‘Black Mirror' Is Becoming A Graphic Novel — Get A Free Sneak Peek

In "Black Mirror" episode USS Callister, spaceship captain Robert Daly may have a darker side than it originally appears. Twisted Comics Black Mirror fans will soon be able to experience the dystopian world of their favorite satirical sci-fi anthology series in graphic-novel form, and publisher Twisted Comics is giving a free preview of what's to come. On Thursday, the U.K.-based indie publisher released on gaming platform Steam the first 20 pages of the inaugural issue in the comics series. The issue is an adaptation of season 4 episode USS Callister , which routinely ranks as one of the most beloved Black Mirror installments. In the episode, the co-founder of an immersive online multiplayer game called Infinity, feeling underappreciated by co-workers, simulates a Star Trek –style space adventure within the game where he serves as the fearless captain on a quest to defeat an archenemy. Naturally, this William Shatner-like leader has a dark, vengeful side. This is Black Mirror after all. The first issue in Twisted Comics' first graphic-novel adaptation of "Black Mirror" episodes publishes later this year. Twisted Comics Twisted Comics is known for its best-selling series of psychological thrillers Twisted Dark, among other offerings . That a publisher with 'twisted' in its name is behind the Black Mirror graphic novels feels fitting given how macabre and transgressive the show can get as it explores the unintended consequences of our reliance on digital technology and how it exposes human flaws. Twisted Comics founder and editor-in-chief Neil Gibson wrote the USS Callister issue, which is illustrated by artist Silvano Beltramo, with a cover by Butcher Billy. 'It's great to see the best stories retold in different ways,' Gibson, a longtime comics lover, said over Zoom from London. 'It's my mission in life to get more people reading and creating comics.' Gibson is an avowed Black Mirror fan who has seen all but one episode since TV writer Charlie Brooker's series debuted on British public broadcasting channel 4 in 2011 — it gained a global cult following once it started streaming on Netflix in 2016. Next up in the Twisted Comics graphic-novel series will be an adaptation of the moving season 3 episode San Junipero, about a town where older and deceased people can live forever in virtual reality as their younger selves. That one's expected in 2026, with the USS Callister available for preorder now, and expected to publish later this year. An early look at USS Callister, the first issue in a new graphic-novel series based on sci-fi anthology series "Black Mirror." Twisted Comics Gibson wouldn't say exactly how many Black Mirror episodes overall will get the comics treatment, only that it will be 'many.' Twisted Comics is selecting episodes for adaptation by reviewing episode rankings for the most celebrated, he said. 'With my stories, the aim is always to entertain, educate and surprise, and Black Mirror does that. It makes you think, and some of the stories stay with people for days.' Twisted Comics secured the rights to adapt Black Mirror from Banijay Rights, which represents the Black Mirror brand. The early snippet of USS Callister is available on Steam via Inky Pen , an all-you-can-read comic subscription service that's available on the Nintendo Switch and just launched on Steam. Twisted Comics is also currently running a Kickstarter campaign for the USS Callister issue that offers perks such as the chance to be drawn in the actual comic alongside the spaceship's crew. The campaign has already exceeded its goal by more than $38,000 dollars, with six days to go, proving no amount of dystopian bleakness will deter true Black Mirror fans. The visual style on the comic alternates between the world of the gaming company and the world of the fictional spaceship. Twisted Comics

Proper No. Twelve Irish Whiskey Launches ‘One for All Project': Investing in the Heroes Who Protect Our Communities

With $5 million already donated to first responders, the whiskey brand unveils a major initiative for firehouses facing significant resource shortages nationwide JERSEY CITY, N.J., June 10, 2025--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Today, Proper No. Twelve® Irish Whiskey announces the launch of the One for All Project, a nationwide initiative addressing the severe funding crisis facing fire departments across the United States. Proper No. Twelve has always stood behind the courageous heroes who fight for us every day, having donated over $5 million to first responders since the brand's inception. Now, rooted in its core values of loyalty, camaraderie, and community, the brand is deepening that commitment through a long-term, strategic effort to support firefighters across America. The reality for the firefighter community is stark: 72% of career and volunteer fire departments report not having enough funding to cover basic operations1, compelling firefighters to use personal funds for necessary equipment like safety gear and specialized tools. According to the National Fire Protection Association, every $1 invested in disaster mitigation saves communities $6 in reduced damage and emergency costs2, yet departments continue to face significant financial challenges. The One for All Project represents Proper No. Twelve's commitment to addressing this critical—and unacceptable—issue. In the program's initial phase, Proper No. Twelve provided 12 firehouses with $10,000 grants to help cover the costs of essential safety gear, equipment, and station repairs. One of these firehouses – The Jersey City Fire Department, Engine 11 – was selected to receive $40,000 of additional funding to complete a transformational project, revitalizing a critical community resource. Proper No. Twelve is proud to announce that applications are now open for 12 additional firehouses to receive $10,000 grants. Firehouses are encouraged to visit for more information on the program and to apply. For Engine 11, funding is enabling upgrades of two vital spaces in disrepair: Gear storage will be upgraded from cramped cages that are not up to code to state-of-the-art lockers that allow for proper drying of gear and quicker access. Their kitchen—a critical communal space where firefighters rest, recharge, and share meals—will be transformed into a modern, functional area. "Nationwide, fire departments like ours are facing a growing funding crisis, making it harder to secure the basic tools and equipment needed to keep ourselves and our communities safe," said Chief Robert Daly of the Jersey City Fire Department. "This incredible support from the One For All Project will help us bridge that gap, ensuring that our firefighters can do their jobs safely and effectively. Just as Proper No. Twelve stands for loyalty and camaraderie, our firehouse is built on those same values—we're a tight-knit community serving our community." The public will also have the chance to make a direct impact by voting for the firehouses that will receive this essential funding between July 1 and July 8. Americans reveal their secrets to hosting the best cookout as summer approaches

Summer isn't complete without four cookouts, three getaways, two concerts, and two festivals, according to a recent poll. The survey of 2,000 Americans uncovered the must-haves for a perfect summer, barbecue trends, and the most popular barbecue foods and flavors on Americans' grills. Advertisement Two-thirds of Americans (66%) said summer grilling season is their favorite time of year, and over a quarter (27%) confessed that no matter what season it is, they're always looking forward to next year's summer barbecue season. Conducted by Talker Research on behalf of SpartanNash, the study found that Americans plan to attend five barbecues this summer and host four, on average. 7 Summer isn't complete without four cookouts, three getaways, two concerts, and two festivals, according to a recent poll. BlueOrange Studio – Gen Z was more likely than any other generation to say summer isn't complete without at least one barbecue. Advertisement According to results across generations, there are 11 guests, on average, at the perfect cookout, and most respondents believe barbecuing is a communal effort, as 64% stated that it's a sin to show up to a cookout without bringing anything to share. Looking at grilling trends more closely, the most popular cookout sides are potato salad (60%), corn on the cob (54%), baked beans (53%), and watermelon (48%), though this did vary by generation. While 70% of baby boomers reach for potato salad, tastes are changing, with about half of millennials (47%) and Gen Z surveyed (53%) voting for mac and cheese as their favorite side of choice. 7 Gen Z was more likely than any other generation to say summer isn't complete without at least one barbecue. Monkey Business – Advertisement Regardless of the sides they're enjoying, the survey found the top cookout activities are cards (27%), cornhole (26%) and swimming (24%). And taking a closer look at the main event — what's actually on the grill — the survey asked Americans about their favorite grill staples and found that hamburgers (77%), hot dogs (65%), chicken (55%), steak (54%), ribs (46%) and bratwurst (25%) are most loved. The poll asked respondents about which shoes they like to wear to a barbecue and found that 20% prefer to staff the grill as the 'grill master' and 22% like to be in charge of the side dishes as the 'sides supervisor.' Twelve percent enjoy organizing the desserts as the 'sweets specialist,' and another 12% opt to cover the drinks as 'cooler captain.' Advertisement 7 The study found that Americans plan to attend five barbecues this summer and host four, on average. Robert Daly/Caia Image – Taking a snapshot of America's barbecue veterans or 'grill masters,' most (61%) have been grilling for over 20 years, and 45% said they fire up the grill at least once a week. 'Summer is the perfect time for cookout favorites – from a brat with all the toppings to a table full of sides, salads, and other barbecue staples,' said Erin Storm, senior vice president and chief marketing officer. 'With a variety of grilling staples, sides, and brats, we're excited to give grill masters a one-stop destination to explore bold, new flavors and create the ultimate summer grilling experience.' The survey looked at grilling flavor preferences and found that most people (77%) like to try new flavors when grilling or attending a cookout. And Americans' favorite flavors on the grill are barbecue flavor (61%), garlic (34%), a generally smoky flavor (30%), teriyaki (25%), honey (25%), and brown sugar (24%). 7 Most Americans surveyed (61%) have been grilling for over 20 years, and 45% said they fire up the grill at least once a week. shaiith – Uncovering consumption habits for one of America's favorite grill staples, bratwurst, 43% said they eat brats at least once per month, and only one in 10 (13%) of brat eaters will have theirs plain. The best brat toppings varied greatly by generation. While mustard came out as the No. 1, it might be on its way out, as 60% of baby boomers selected it, compared to just a third of Gen Zers. Advertisement Sauerkraut is also fading in popularity, as it was revealed to be a favorite topping for baby boomers (40%), but not so much for Gen Z (11%). Instead, younger generations are increasingly reaching for cheese and peppers — toppings that, generationally, baby boomers were the least likely to select. And the best way to cook bratwursts, according to the poll, is on a grill (52%), over an open fire (13%), and in a smoker (11%). 7 The survey looked at grilling flavor preferences and found that most people (77%) like to try new flavors when grilling or attending a cookout. zphoto83 – 'It's clear that grilling season brings people together, whether it's to enjoy classic summer staples or to discover new, unexpected flavors,' said Storm. 'While the ingredients for the best summer ever might look a little different from cookout to cookout, our goal is to offer fresh, fun, and unique options for every picnic table all summer long.'
