Kourtney Kardashian slams 'controlling and bossy' Caitlyn Jenner over step-parenting style

In a candid new interview with sister Khloe Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian Barker opened up about her rocky relationship with Caitlyn Jenner growing up - and revealed the tension was so intense, it led her to move out of the family home as a teenager. Speaking on Khloé's podcast Khloé in Wonder Land, Kourtney shared that she found Caitlyn - then Bruce, before her transition - 'controlling and bossy' as a stepparent, which ultimately pushed her to live full-time with her father, the late Robert Kardashian. 'I'd be like, "I wanna call my dad!" and then he'd, like, hang up the phone,' Kourtney recalled, using Caitlyn's old pronouns. 'We'd have yelling wars.' Kourtney was around 11 years old when Caitlyn married their mother, Kris Jenner, in 1991, shortly after Kris finalized her divorce from Robert. At the time, Kim was 10, Khloé was six, and Rob Jr. was just three. Kris and Caitlyn would go on to have two daughters together, Kendall and Kylie, expanding the already blended Kardashian-Jenner household. But while Khloé expressed appreciation for Caitlyn's approach to step-parenting, saying she 'never tried to be dad,' Kourtney's experience couldn't have been more different. 'Really, he tried to be dad for you?' Khloé asked in surprise, to which Kourtney replied, 'He tried to be controlling and bossy. Like, certain friends can't come over.' Kourtney went on to explain that it wasn't just Caitlyn's strictness that pushed her away - it was also the example set by her dad's then-fiancée, Denise, who she credits with showing her what a positive stepparent relationship could look like. 'Denise was our dad's fiancée for five years,' Khloé told listeners. 'We loved her, we still love her.' Kourtney agreed, adding, 'I think about what an amazing example she was to all of us. 'She taught us so much about being young ladies at the time. I think having that really positive experience with Denise really helped me, too.' Khloé admitted that she thought Kourtney's negative feelings had to do with thinking Caitlyn was trying to 'replace' her dad, but she said that wasn't it. She then also hinted that Kourtney's reaction might have influenced Caitlyn's later approach with her younger siblings. 'Maybe mom had a talk with him, maybe your rejection taught him something,' Khloé suggested. Ultimately, Kourtney revealed that her discomfort with Caitlyn's parenting style became too much to handle. 'That's why I moved into dad's,' she said. Kourtney has previously shared that she made the move when she was 16, with Kim eventually joining her. Their father, Robert, tragically passed away from esophageal cancer in 2003. Kourtney was 24 at the time. Kris and Caitlyn eventually separated in 2013, and Caitlyn came out publicly as transgender in 2015. Despite the family's evolution - and their many ups and downs - Kourtney's story is a powerful reminder that even under the same roof, childhood experiences can be profoundly different. 'See?' Khloé said during the podcast, clearly stunned by the revelations. 'You can live in the same house, be raised by the same parents, and have totally different experiences. I'm sorry you went through that.' 'Thank you,' Kourtney replied. 'It was fine.'

Kim Kardashian graduates from law school apprenticeship

NEW YORK — Kim Kardashian's legal ambitions are nearly a reality — now that the reality star has graduated from her law school apprenticeship. An insider told Us Weekly that the 44-year-old also has passed the bar prerequisite known as the multistate professional responsibility exam. On Wednesday, 'excited and proud' friends, family and legal mentors threw a surprise party for Kardashian in Beverly Hills, which the SKIMS founder initially believed to be a 'regular family brunch.' The accomplishment comes six years after Kardashian, who still needs to pass the bar to practice law in her native California, first made public her dream to practice law, which was revealed in Vogue's May 2019 cover story interview. Kardashian at the time said she 'aced' her torts test. In late 2021, she passed the 'baby bar' after three failed attempts, writing on Instagram: 'This wasn't easy or handed to me. 'I failed this exam 3 times in 2 years, but I got back up each time and studied harder and tried again until I did it!!! (I did have COVID on the 3rd try w a 104 fever but I'm not making excuses),' she continued. Kardashian's late father, Robert Kardashian, was one of O.J. Simpson's defense attorneys in his trial for the murders of ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman, for which Simpson was acquitted. Months after announcing she'd passed the baby bar, Kardashian was declared legally single from Kanye West, and they settled their divorce in late 2022. But it doesn't seem like the 47-year-old controversial rapper, now legally known as 'Ye,' will be using his ex-wife's legal services any time soon, even as he faces mounting lawsuits for alleged antisemitic harassment of Jewish employees, copyright infringement, sexual harassment and 'real estate issues.' Sources revealed to Us Weekly earlier this year that Kardashian might file for 'full custody' of their four children.

Kim Kardashian's Kids Honor Robert Kardashian at Law School Graduation

Originally appeared on E! Online Kim Kardashian has no objection to these graduation looks. The Kardashians star celebrated her completion of law school on May 21, with her and ex Kanye West's kids Chicago West, 7, and Psalm West, 5, donning special outfits at a private commencement ceremony in honor of her academic milestone. For the momentous occasion, Chicago wore a dark pinstripe suit similar to the one Kim sported during a 2023 visit to Harvard Business School. Meanwhile, Psalm channeled the 44-year-old's late dad Robert Kardashian—who was a defense attorney in O.J. Simpson's 1995 murder trial—by rocking a beige suit with a blue shirt and patterned tie that was on trend at the height of the decade. Kim was clearly touched by her little ones taking "style inspo," as she put it, from her and Robert, who died at age 59 in 2003 after being diagnosed with esophageal cancer. Kim Kardashian dons a graduation cap and marches closer to becoming a lawyer

Kim Kardashian waves as she arrives to testify regarding a robbery of millions of dollars in jewels from her Paris hotel room in 2016, in Paris, Tuesday, May 13, 2025. (AP Photo/Aurelien Morissard) BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. — Kim Kardashian is a step closer to following in her father's footsteps and becoming a lawyer. She has completed a legal apprenticeship and is now eligible to take the California bar exam, her representative confirmed Wednesday. The entrepreneur and reality TV star posted an Instagram Story from a small private ceremony at the Beverly Hills Hotel, where she smiled as she donned a graduation cap. Jessica Jackson, a lawyer who mentored her in the program, called it 'one of the most inspiring legal journeys we've ever seen.' 'Six years ago, Kim Kardashian walked into this program with nothing but a fierce desire to fight for justice,' Jackson says in a speech in the video. 'No law school lectures, no ivory tower shortcuts, just determination. And a mountain of case law books to read.' California allows people to study under a lawyer or judge as an alternative to law school. Kardashian could become a licensed lawyer if she passes the state's notoriously difficult state bar exam. Jackson said Kardashian spent '18 hours a week, 48 weeks a year for six straight years' on the program. Her late father, Robert Kardashian, was an attorney and counted O.J. Simpson among his clients. Kardashian revealed the milestone roughly a week after she testified in a Paris courtroom about her fear of being killed during a 2016 armed robbery. 'I was certain that was the moment that he was going to rape me,' she told a Paris court May 13 about the ordeal. 'I absolutely did think I was going to die.' Kardashian has in recent years been a criminal justice reform advocate and in 2018 successfully lobbied President Donald Trump to commute the sentence of Alice Marie Johnson, a grandmother who was serving a life sentence without parole for drug offenses.
