Two teens arrested after fight at Centre Station, Moline

Two teens were arrested yesterday after police said they were part of a fight at Centre Station in Moline, according to a news release from the Moline Police Department. Officers responded to Centre Station, 1200 River Drive, on February 27 at about 3:34 p.m. for a large fight among juveniles. Centre Station is the MetroLINK bus station in downtown Moline. According to a news release from the department, a verbal argument began on a MetroLINK bus carrying several high school age teens. A woman reported that a group of boys were harassing girls. When the bus stopped at Centre Station, a physical fight broke out in the parking lot. Multiple Moline Police officers, including Moline Police School Resource Officers and a squad car with a social worker responded to the scene. Metrolink employs deputies from the Rock Island County Sheriff's Office who also responded. While officers were investigating the fight, MetroLINK buses continued arriving on scheduled routes to drop passengers off at Centre Station, resulting in an additional large group of people gathering at the bus station. Several teens began rushing officers and other students. They surrounded the squad car with the social worker and a student who was detained during the investigation. A 16-year-old boy charged a group of students on the west end of the lot. An officer intervened and the boy pushed the officer. The officer tried to arrest the boy, but he fought with the officer and a deputy until he was arrested for resisting a peace officer. A 15-year-old boy was arrested for aggravated battery as part of the original fight call. The case is still under investigation by the Moline Police Department, the Rock Island County Sheriff's Office and MetroLINK. Anyone with information should contact the police at 309-797-0401, Crime Stoppers at 309-765-9500 or use the P3 Tip App. The students' names are not being released due to their ages.
