Shorter College asks community for donations to help Job Corps students
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Officials with Shorter College are asking for donations to help students they are housing following the shutdown of the federal Job Corps program.
The Little Rock Job Corps Center closed after the U.S. Department of Labor announced its plans to pause operations, leaving residents displaced. School officials said they have welcomed 20 students to their campus for housing and enrollment since the shutdown.

School officials said the students arrived with minimal personal items and are asking for donations of the following items:
Twin XL sheets, mattress covers, comforters and pillows
Towels, washcloths, hygiene and feminine products
Toilet paper
Non-perishable snacks
Gift cards from Walmart, Target or Family Dollar
Job Corps closing hits home with Little Rock families
Donations can be dropped off at Shorter College located at 604 Locust Street in North Little Rock. Mail donations can also be sent to the same address. Financial donations can be made at Items can also be purchased on Amazon.
