‘Tough taskmaster hai': Javed Akhtar REACTS to working with kids Zoya-Farhan and we bet you don't want to miss this
Veteran screenwriter and lyricist Javed Akhtar has been in the industry for several decades. From working with 90s directors to working with his children, he has done it all. He is also quite open about his thoughts and doesn't shy away from speaking his heart out. Recently, he opened up about working with his children Zoya Akhtar and Farhan Akhtar. He also called Zoya a 'tough taskmaster'. In a recent interview with The Lallantop, Javed Akhtar opened up on working with his children and said, 'Kaam karna apne bachho ke liye bada mushkil hai.' He further added, 'Dusro ke liye kaam karna asaan hai, apne bachho ke liye bada mushkil hain. Unko aisa nahi hai ki hamara baap hain toh hum kuch kahe nahin. Humein toh kuch kehna hi hain. Zoya tough taskmaster hai.' (It's easier to work for others; working for your own children is very difficult. They don't think, 'He's our father so we won't say anything.' In fact, they feel they must say something. Zoya is a tough taskmaster). Although both Zoya Akhtar and Farhan Akhtar have made their mark as filmmakers, they gravitate toward very different genres. Reflecting on this, veteran screenwriter Javed Akhtar praised them as smart storytellers and noted that their filmmaking styles are distinctly unique. He added that while both are successful in their own right, neither could make a film quite like the other. For the unversed, Zoya Akhtar is known for some hit films like Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Dil Dhadakne Do, and Gully Boy. Meanwhile, Farhan Akhtar is both an actor and director. He has played pivotal roles in Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Dil Dhadakne Do, Rock On!! and more. Making a directorial debut with Dil Chahta Hai, he is gearing up for his next directorial Don 3, starring Ranveer Singh in the lead role. He will also be seen in 120 Bahadur.

Vir Das auditioned 9 times for Delhi Belly, rejected Rock On for the film; Aamir Khan almost played Vijay Raaz's role. Watch
It's hard to imagine Delhi Belly without Vir Das singing 'Jaa Chudail', Kunal Roy Kapur sprinting in a burqa, and Imran Khan's bug-eyed constipation. But as it turns out, the cult classic could've looked very different. In a new behind-the-scenes video on Aamir Khan's YouTube channel, director Abhinay Deo, writer Akshat Verma, and actor Vir Das open up about the film's wild casting process and all the curveballs along the way. Turns out, Vir Das was never supposed to play Arup. 'Technically, when we started the casting, Vir was meant to play Tashi, Imran's character,' Akshat revealed. To which Vir added, 'Which would have never worked out.' Perhaps, that is why he ended up auditioning nine times for the film. 'For me, the Delhi Belly process was that unknown number, because I auditioned 9 times and every time I used to get a call from some new landline at Aamir Khan Productions.' In fact, that wasn't even the only film he was testing for that year. 'I auditioned 6 times for 3 Idiots, 5 auditions for Rock On!! and 9 auditions for Delhi Belly,' he said. 'Delhi Belly and Rock On!! fell on the same dates and I was getting Purab Kohli's role, but I chose Delhi Belly over it.' Meanwhile, Kunal Roy Kapur wasn't even in the running initially. The team had their eyes on his brother, Aditya Roy Kapur, but things took a turn. 'Kunal was never meant to do the film,' they shared. But when he walked in, he fit right into the film's chaotic spirit and the rest was history. Even Vijay Raaz's now-iconic gangster role almost went a different route. 'We wanted Aamir to play that character,' the team said, 'but he was more interested in Kunal's role.' Eventually, Vijay Raaz was cast and brought his signature deadpan brilliance. Aamir Khan, instead, ended up doing a cameo as Disco Fighter, which, let's be honest, became a legendary moment in its own right.
