It's hard to imagine Delhi Belly without Vir Das singing 'Jaa Chudail', Kunal Roy Kapur sprinting in a burqa, and Imran Khan's bug-eyed constipation. But as it turns out, the cult classic could've looked very different. In a new behind-the-scenes video on Aamir Khan's YouTube channel, director Abhinay Deo, writer Akshat Verma, and actor Vir Das open up about the film's wild casting process and all the curveballs along the way.
Turns out, Vir Das was never supposed to play Arup. 'Technically, when we started the casting, Vir was meant to play Tashi, Imran's character,' Akshat revealed. To which Vir added, 'Which would have never worked out.' Perhaps, that is why he ended up auditioning nine times for the film. 'For me, the Delhi Belly process was that unknown number, because I auditioned 9 times and every time I used to get a call from some new landline at Aamir Khan Productions.' In fact, that wasn't even the only film he was testing for that year. 'I auditioned 6 times for 3 Idiots, 5 auditions for Rock On!! and 9 auditions for Delhi Belly,' he said. 'Delhi Belly and Rock On!! fell on the same dates and I was getting Purab Kohli's role, but I chose Delhi Belly over it.'
Meanwhile, Kunal Roy Kapur wasn't even in the running initially. The team had their eyes on his brother, Aditya Roy Kapur, but things took a turn. 'Kunal was never meant to do the film,' they shared. But when he walked in, he fit right into the film's chaotic spirit and the rest was history.
Even Vijay Raaz's now-iconic gangster role almost went a different route. 'We wanted Aamir to play that character,' the team said, 'but he was more interested in Kunal's role.' Eventually, Vijay Raaz was cast and brought his signature deadpan brilliance. Aamir Khan, instead, ended up doing a cameo as Disco Fighter, which, let's be honest, became a legendary moment in its own right.

Dil Raju denounces industry practice of buying YouTube views for trailers, songs: ‘Don't want to fake numbers anymore'

Producer Dil Raju attended the trailer launch of his upcoming film Thammudu, starring Nithiin. He opened up about the industry practice of buying YouTube views for trailers and songs, announcing that he's denouncing it. Here's what he said. (Also Read: Allu Aravind backs Pawan Kalyan and questions theatre bandh during HHVM release; Dil Raju claims 'miscommunication') Raju stated at the event that he has directed his PR team not to buy any views on YouTube for Thammudu's trailer or songs. He said, 'I've been meaning to talk about this for a while now, and I must address it today. Whatever views you see on YouTube for this film are original. I've told my PR team and everyone working for me that the numbers must reflect real views. I do not want to fake numbers anymore.' He stated that he's adapting this practice so he knows beforehand, as a producer, how much the audience is really interested in his films. 'I want to know how many views my songs or trailers bring in so I'm prepared for how much reach it'll have upon release. When we're buying views, there's a large number for us to show, but we don't really know if it's reaching the intended audience. Even if it's difficult, I've decided to take the first step in doing this,' explained Raju. When everyone looked shocked at the tangent his speech took, Raju claimed that he wasn't stating anything 'controversial', reasoning that it's the only way producers can 'correct' themselves. 'I am not saying anything controversial. I believe we (producers) will know how to correct ourselves only when we see genuine numbers. If the film is worth it, people will watch it anyway. Look at how Sankranthiki Vasthunam became an all-time record. Court also became a super hit. 2025 has proved that all we need is good content.' In January this year, Raju was called out by the press for releasing a poster for the Ram Charan-starrer Game Changer, claiming it earned over ₹186 crore worldwide on its opening day, when in reality it earned that amount in its lifetime. He defensively said, 'I've already said we (producers) have weaknesses we can't discuss. I admit that, no. Don't you know how much the film has already collected? So you calculate and put out posters for films now.'

Alia Bhatt Shares A Sneak Peek Into Her "2 Days At Cannes"

Alia Bhatt made a spectacular red carpet debut at the Cannes Film Festival 2025. She served not one but four stunning looks. The credit goes to stylist Rhea Kapoor for choosing the mesmerising outfits. Now, the Jigra star has shared glimpses of her two-day extravaganza. The video, posted on YouTube, opens to Alia Bhatt getting ready for Day 1. Her makeup and hair are being done as she sits patiently in the chair. 'We're here at Cannes. Rhea's not looking happy,' Alia sings playfully, teasing Rhea. To this, Rhea replied that she was 'thinking' about how to tie her look together. Alia Bhatt is the brand ambassador of L'Oréal Paris and walked on the Cannes red carpet for the beauty major. 'This is my first time at Cannes and I'm nervously excited,' admits Alia Bhatt. She refuses to have a centre-parted hairstyle, claiming that it doesn't suit her face. Her makeup artist follows the instructions and combs her pin-straight tresses into a side-parted fashion. Blush on her cheeks gave her a rosy glow, her eyebrows are filled and a soft eyeshadow is dabbed - sculpting her face beautifully. Hairspray helped her get-ready to keep Alia's neat bun in place. Then, Alia Bhatt slipped into the ivory-nude Schiaparelli mermaid gown. After a quick photoshoot on the hotel balcony, she arrived at the red carpet. The actress greeted the attendees with a smile, shook hands with some of them and posed with Bridgerton star Simone Ashley. Alia Bhatt's second look was a Giorgio Armani Prive gown. It was picked from the label's spring/summer 2025 collection. The strapless number was a bejewelled wonder and the beaded hair cap was reminiscent of the 1920s flapper style. Alia Bhatt's next two sartorial avatars were from Gucci. She radiated old Hollywood glamour in a sunflower-yellow pencil skirt, a matching corset top and a cropped jacket. The floral headscarf screamed French fashion. Soon after, she switched to a nude-hued monogrammed GG sari, embracing a desi charm.
