Carlisle mum tragically passes away after house fire
A Carlisle mum has tragically passed away following a house fire in the city earlier this week.
Carlisle mum of two, Kayleigh Lennox, tragically passed away on Thursday, May 1, her family has confirmed to the News & Star.
Kayleigh's sad passing comes days after a house fire at her home in Carlisle on Monday, April 28.
Her two children are currently receiving treatment at Newcastle's Royal Victoria Infirmary.
The news of Kayleigh's passing has led to an outpouring of grief and sympathy from the local community, with a mass set to be held in her memory today (Friday, May 2) at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Primary School.
One tribute to Kayleigh on social media said: "This beautiful, strong, brave young lady paid the ultimate sacrifice saving her children from a fire and sadly passed away last night.
"Kayleigh is a true hero."
In addition, Carlisle-based youth charity The Rock Project said that it is 'profoundly saddened' by the news of Kayleigh's passing.
Writing on social media, they said: "The entire team at the Rock Youth Project is profoundly saddened by the tragic house fire that took place on Monday night in our community.
"We grieve the loss of Kayleigh and hold her boys close in our thoughts.
"Our deepest sympathies extend to her family and friends during this incredibly challenging time."
