Teen dies after Rocky Mount shooting involving family members, police said
A 16-year-old male is dead after a shooting in Rocky Mount late Saturday night, police said.
Shortly before 10:30 p.m., Rocky Mount police responded to a ShotSpotter alert in the 500 block of Center Street. They were told by a 911 dispatcher that a male had been shot.
They found the 16-year-old suffering from a gunshot wound. Nash County EMS took him to UNC Nash Hospital, where he died shortly after. He was identified as Larry Davis, Rocky Mount police said in a news release on the department's Facebook page.
A suspect has been identified, but 'based on the facts known at this time and in consultation with the District Attorney's Office, no charges are being filed,' police said.
'This was an unfortunate situation between family members, and our thoughts and prayers are with those affected by this tragic loss,' police said in the news release.
Police said an investigation will continue. They have asked anyone with information to contact the Rocky Mount Police Department at 252-972-1411.
