Popular Tarrant village race returns with 40th anniversary special
The Tarrant Valley 10 is celebrating its 40th anniversary with a special race day. The Tarrant Valley 10 (TV10) is set to take place in the scenic village of Tarrant Monkton, with the Langton Arms pub gearing up to host the runners and spectators. The race is scheduled for Sunday, June 1, at 10.30am, and will be followed by a one-mile children's race. Runners can pre-book online at to save at least £5 compared to the on-the-day price. Additional prize categories have also been introduced, which include the first male over 70, first female over 65 and first male and female under 20. The event promises a fun-filled morning for everyone, with a BBQ, ice-creams, teas, coffees and a raffle. Rogue Racer will provide chip timing for both the adult and children's races through the picturesque Cranborne Chase countryside. The Langton Arms, a village pub owned by local farmers James and Barbara Cossins, will be supporting the event. The Cossins' "Love Local, Trust Local" initiative promotes quality for Dorset suppliers and businesses. The pub offers a locally sourced menu and a variety of drinks. (Image: Tarrant Valley 10) Proceeds from the non-profit village event will go to the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance charity and Horatio's Garden. The air ambulance service, funded by donations, completed nearly 3,000 missions last year. Horatio's Garden provides garden sanctuaries for spinal injury patients, offering them respite.

Village race to mark special 40th anniversary
Tarrant Monkton is gearing up for the 40th annual Tarrant Valley 10 race. The event, starting at 10.30am on Sunday, June 1, will also host a one-mile children's race. To mark the special year, every participant will receive a commemorative medal. Additional prize categories have been introduced for the first male over 70, first female over 65 and first male and female under 20. The race, through the scenic Cranborne Chase, will be chip-timed by Rogue Racer. After the race, participants are invited for lunch at the Langton Arms, which will be open and serving food. The not-for-profit village event will donate its profits to the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance charity and Horatio's Garden. The Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance charity flew almost 3,000 missions last year, while Horatio's Garden creates garden sanctuaries for NHS Spinal Injury Centres. A spokesperson for the event said: "This is a special year for us as it is the 40th anniversary since our inaugural race way back in 1985. "To celebrate this, every runner will receive a special 40th anniversary commemorative medal, including all the runners in the children's race."
