ICE Barbie Kristi Noem's bold jewelry choice at the White House in savage illegal migrant taunt

Whether she is touring a notorious El Salvadoran prison or attending a two-hour Trump cabinet meeting, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem knows what time it is. Noem was famously spotted wearing a $50,000 Rolex Cosmograph Daytona when she toured the infamous Cecot prison shortly after the administration deported more than 200 people including alleged gang members there. She sported the high-priced bling just days after the illegal migrant who allegedly snatched her Gucci handbag was publicly identified. Noem, whose fashion choices have earned her the monicker ICE Barbie, was seen wearing the watch again at Wednesday's televised cabinet meeting at the White House. A pool reporter spotted the accessory at the start of the event, where Noem and other cabinet secretaries each got time to defend the work of their agencies – while tossing myriad complements in Trump's direction. Noem jumped into the discussion after the meeting had been underway for an hour and 20 minutes, after Education Secretary Linda McMahon provided an update on Harvard University's lawsuit against the administration. She said Homeland Security 'pulled back their grants' because Harvard wasn't providing information on critical activity by its students. 'And until they give us that list, they're not getting any more grants from homeland.' That prompted Trump to respond that 'the attitude they have is not American.' He added that 'a grant is a grant. We don't have to give grants.' Noem has been in the news repeatedly, and not just because of her agency's furious activity in what the administration calls a 'mass deportation' campaign. Her trip to El Salvador came shortly after the government there released footage of inmates having their heads shaved as they were transferred there from a U.S. military aircraft. She stood in front of dozens of silent prisoners who were behind bars. She has also been photographed on horseback and riding an ATV at the Mexican border as the administration crafts a tough-on-immigration image. On Easter in Washington Noem had her Gucci handbag snatched. It included her identification, passport, and $3,000 in cash. A suspect without legal documentation was later arrested, and records show he went on a spending spree i mmediately after the incident. Noem, the former South Dakota governor and lawmaker, has an estimated net worth of about $ 1 million, according to her financial disclosure. That included cash savings of about $265,000 and livestock equipment worth up to $100,000. Her husband Bryan Noem had commercial real estate worth up to $500,000 and an insurance brokerage worth between $1 million and $5 million.

Kristi Noem's Nabbed Purse at a Burger Joint Is Still a Washington Mystery

It is the mystery that has gripped Washington. On Sunday night, Kristi Noem, the head of the Department of Homeland Security, was dining downtown at Capital Burger with her family when a thief snatched her purse out from under her chair. The culprit scored, big time: The bag contained Ms. Noem's driver's license, medication, apartment keys, blank checks, department badge, passport and $3,000 in cash. The Capital Burger caper made for capital farce — the top official charged with patrolling the nation's borders and protecting it from terrorist threats, burgled in plain view of her security detail. That it happened to Ms. Noem, of all cabinet officials, only added to the drama. In an administration full of ready-for-TV characters, Ms. Noem stands out. Last year, she drew attention for writing in her autobiography about shooting her dog who proved 'untrainable' and 'dangerous.' More recently, she made headlines for wearing a $50,000 gold Rolex Cosmograph Daytona watch while touring a notorious prison in El Salvador. In the photos and videos she posts in her role as homeland security secretary, she wears tactical gear, poses with guns and accompanies border agents on missions to nab migrants; even some of President Trump's allies have characterized many of her actions as little more than stunts. The robbery was common knowledge among the lunchtime crowd this week at Capital Burger, a pub that sits in the shadow of the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. It's the kind of place with a giant pretzel and kung pao brussels sprouts on the menu. 'It's a little weird,' said John Lauck, 28, who said he worked for the military and was in town from Texas. 'I don't know why anybody would have that much money on them.' Thank you for your patience while we verify access. Alarmingly easy way thief stole Kristi Noem's bag from under her nose

The man who allegedly stole the handbag of Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem used an alarmingly simple method to grab the Gucci purse, which was loaded with cash, according to security footage reviewed by Secret Service investigators. Noem had been dining at The Capital Burger restaurant in Washington D.C. on Sunday when her bag was stolen. It contained around $3,000 in cash and her DHS access badge as well as her driver's license, apartment keys, passport, medication, blank checks, makeup and a Louis Vuitton Clemence wallet. Footage of the incident showed the suspect had been sitting at a table next to Noem's before moving purposefully closer to her as he targeted the Gucci bag placed near her feet, a law enforcement source told CNN . He then used his left foot to slide the bag away from her, the source said. The thief was captured surveying the restaurant before discreetly picking up the bag, hiding it under his jacket, and leaving. Noem was completely unaware of the thief and only noticed her bag was missing once she got up from the table, according to the source. It remains unclear whether the thief knew how Noem was or if she was a random target. The Secret Service is leading the investigation and is working to trace any use of her cards. Noem had been dining with her family at the time and Secret Service agents were in the restaurant with her, according to the source. They did not say how many agents were there or where they had been placed inside the restaurant. Explaining why Noem was carrying such a large sum of cash, a DHS spokesperson said: 'Her entire family was in town including her children and grandchildren – she was using the withdrawal to treat her family to dinner, activities, and Easter gifts.' The Homeland Security Secretary could be seen standing in front of a cramped prison cell as inmates watched her make a threat to immigrants. "If you come to our country illegally, this is one of the consequences you could face,' she said in a video posted on social media. In the clip, Noem could also be seen sporting the luxury watch, identified as an 18-karat gold Rolex Cosmograph Daytona. She was accused of "flaunting her wealth" during the visit. Jonathan Wackrow, a former Secret Service agent, warns that Noem could still be "at higher risk for targeted threats, both by foreign and domestic actors," explaining that her public profile alone "makes her a symbolic target." He said the theft of her bag could signal a security problem. 'This is a security breach that actually has high consequences, and it needs immediate and further review by the Secret Service and DHS and other law enforcement partners,' he told CNN.

Rare Rolex Daytona Expected To Command Up To $1.6 Million At Auction

A unique Rolex Cosmograph Daytona will be one of the highlights of Sotheby's Important Watches auction in Geneva on May 11. The 1999 Cosmograph Daytona, Ref.16516, in platinum with a diamond-set mother-of-pearl dial has an estimate of $800,000 - $1.6 million. It is one of the rarest Rolex watches ever made, according to the auction house. It is a commissioned Rolex wristwatch, from a brand that famously doesn't do privately commissioned limited editions. This model is confirmed for the first time to be the last of four Daytonas commissioned to Rolex in a single order by the same private collector who requested anonymity and created between 1998 and 1999. It comes to auction for the first time. All four watches have the same reference number 16516, the last digit, '6,' refers to the use of platinum, a first for a Daytona, Sotheby's said. For more than a decade, the automatic Daytona was offered only in stainless steel, two-tone steel and gold, yellow gold and white gold. An exception was made in 1999 when one person was granted a Cosmograph Daytona rendered in platinum. The first time Rolex started producing platinum Daytonas in a series was in 2013, to mark the 15th anniversary of the model. 'This highlights the historical importance of this special commission created nearly 15 years earlier,' Sotheby's said in a statement. The existence of a platinum Zenith-powered Daytona was, for many years, a myth fueled by speculations that swirled around one name in particular: Patrick Heiniger, Rolex's CEO from 1992 to 2008. Heiniger is believed to have been seen wearing a platinum automatic Daytona before they were made in a series. Until Sotheby's unearthed the first known example in 2018, the story was widely considered as being apocryphal within the watch community. The four dials in the commission are all different, making each watch unique. This is the last of the four watches from the commission coming for the first time on the market. This makes it the last chance for a collector to be the first to acquire a piece of Rolex history, Sotheby's said. This Rolex Daytona, with a mother-of-pearl dial set with ten diamonds, was manufactured by Rolex in circa 1999 and comes with its certificate and accessories. The other three in the series featured a dark mother-of-pearl dial, a lapis lazuli dial and a turquoise dial. This example being the only one set with diamonds. All three were sold by Sotheby's way above their initial estimate in 2018, 2020 and 2021, with the lapis lazuli hardstone example achieving a world record price of $3.2 million at Sotheby's 2020 Hong Kong sale. 'A milestone in the history of the Cosmograph Daytona, its rarity, provenance and superlative craftsmanship make this 1999 Cosmograph Daytona, Ref.16516 with a diamond-set mother-of-pearl dial, one of the most important examples ever to be presented at auction. It is also an exceptional book ending to the sale of this extraordinary commission of four masterpieces, three of which have already found new homes through previous Sotheby's sales,' said Benoît Colson, head of Watches, Sotheby's Geneva.
