Bryan Adams thinks his remarkable UK Singles Chart record will be surpassed
Bryan Adams expects his UK chart record to be broken. The 65-year-old singer's 1991 track (Everything I Do) I Do It For You topped the UK Singles Chart for a record 16 consecutive weeks that year but he believes he will be surpassed by another artist eventually – after Drake came close with One Dance in 2016, a track that remained at the summit for 15 weeks. Speaking to Classic Pop magazine, Bryan said: "Oh, sure it can. I mean there's been people that are already close." Asked if he finds it special to still hold the record, he said: "Hmmm, that is amazing and long may it be so, but the reality is something will eventually knock it off." Bryan admits that he didn't think the track – which featured in the film Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves – would be such a big hit, although record producer Robert 'Mutt' Lange felt otherwise. The Summer of '69 rocker said: "I had no idea, but I knew that Mutt did, because I remember him pulling into the studio one day and he said, 'You know what? This song really has an international melody', and those words stuck with me because he was so right. There wasn't a country in the world that didn't play that song afterwards. "When he was producing it, he was thinking global. Hats off to both Mutt and Michael Kamen, because they're the ones that were really the geniuses behind it." Bryan's new album Roll With The Punches will be released next month and he explained how the record's title track came about. The Canadian singer said of his creative process: "The tap doesn't necessarily go off. Then one day something will happen, like Roll With The Punches will come together, and that becomes the cornerstone song for an album. You know it right away, as soon as you get that particular song. "It's happened to me umpteen times on records. In fact, every album has one sort of signature (track), and I thought, 'Oh yeah, that's the beginning of a record.' "So, then you have your direction. And then you also have songs that you demoed prior to that, which you might need to rethink in order to bring them into that same energy space."

I saw Bryan Adams in Glasgow's Hydro- he wore a kilt
Canadian superstar Bryan Adams declared it was great to be back in "Bonnie Scotland" as he showcased his incredible career to fans at the Hydro tonight. The legendary singer flattered the Scottish fans by donning a kilt as he launched into new song Roll With The Punches. Familiar territory quickly returned with the anthem Run To You. He then said: 'Hello Glasgow, how are you? 'Got lots of songs to play for you tonight. 'Great to be back in Bonnie Scotland.' And the fans were delighted to welcome the star, especially when he performed an acoustic version of Cloud Number Nine. It showed off the 65-year-old's voice beautifully. Raspy and soulful, it's the perfect instrument for any rock anthem. Having a nostalgic moment, the singer then said: 'I was thinking about the first time I ever came to Glasgow. 'I'm pretty sure the first time was with Tina Turner.' Introducing their 1985 duet It's Only Love, he added: 'We lost her a couple of years ago which was a great loss to music. 'A great loss to me because she was my friend.' A touching moment was followed by the crowd taking the spotlight on the big screen for You Belong To Me which proved to be hilarious. READ OTHER BRYAN ADAMS REVIEWS: Review of Bryan Adams at Glasgow Hydro in 2022 Review: Bryan Adams at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow in 2018 A sense of intimacy was created in the venue throughout the show with clever stage lighting used to make the Hydro feel smaller. But the lack of big screen action meant the audience missed out seeing some of Adams' stage performance up close. It wasn't needed however for When You're Gone - his 1998 duet with Melanie C - which had the crowd singing in unison while Adams carried the tune acoustically. A good songwriter, a talented artist, and a voice like no other, there isn't much not to like about Bryan Adams. He's a solid performer who never fails to put on a spectacular live show. Taking requests from fans, he surprised with a cover of The Proclaimers' I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles) - quite fitting for his stage attire. Playing for well over two hours - what else would you expect from a legend? - he of course, inevitably gave the moment all 90s music fans waited for…that song from Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. (Everything I Do) I Do It For You spent 16 consecutive weeks at number one in the UK for a reason. The gorgeous ballad is an absolute anthem and still sounds as powerful today as it did in 1991. Finishing off in style with The Summer of 69, he then walked through the audience to the back of the arena to perform Straight from the Heart and All For Love from a smaller stage, it was a moment to remember. He then signed off: "You've been wonderful." No Bryan, you've been wonderful. @glasgowtimes We were out reviewing the legendary singer Bryan Adams tonight. He performed this Scottish anthem by The Proclaimers. How do you think he did? Full review, visit Glasgow Times online. ♬ original sound - Glasgow Times
