Kayakers who saved dog following fall from Dublin cliff 'delighted' after Liveline appeal
A pair of kayakers have recalled how they were 'delighted' to hear the dog they saved following a fall from the cliff had survived following a radio appeal earlier in the week. Anne Lynch shared how she had been walking along the cliffs of Howth with her dogs Rollie and Sugar in March when she turned a bend and was unable to see her Pomeranian, who had been a bit ahead of her. On learning that Rollie had gone over the cliff, Anne looked over to see if she could find her pup and then spotted four kayakers who came to the dog's rescue. On Thursday, presenter Joe Duffy spoke to two of the kayakers, Jeff Doherty and Tommy Daly, who explained that they had been out for a paddle when they saw some people (Anne and her friends) hailing them from the shoreline. Jeff detailed how they had thought the people were saying hello first, but quickly realised there was something wrong. At that point, I could see a dog not moving.' The kayaker managed to get over to Rollie, who was 'lying motionless but conscious [with] a bit of blood around his face.' Jeff brought Rollie to Tommy, with the kayakers then managing to inform Anne they needed a vet and would meet them at the shoreline. 'I was delighted to hear yesterday, or the day before, that he'd survived,' Jeff told Joe, 'It really was good news because he'd looked like he was in a bad way. He was totally in shock.' Tommy added that they hadn't known what the outcome was until the radio appeal made earlier in the week. 'I'd say he fell off higher than the top balcony of a block of flats.'

Appeal for brave kayakers who saved dog after fall from Dublin cliff
A woman has thanked brave kayakers who saved her dog's life after it fell from a cliff in Dublin. When Anne Lynch was walking along the cliffs of Howth with her dogs Rollie and Sugar back in March, she turned a bend on the cliff walk when she realised that the Pomeranian, who was a bit ahead of her, was nowhere to be seen. After a brief search, Anne was told by a passing couple that the dog had fallen over the cliff edge. 'After a couple of minutes of trying to call him, I called the Gardaí while my partner stayed [on the cliff].' After calling out for Rollie for another few minutes, Anne said that her partner spotted four kayakers along the water from the north — and after thinking that they were just waving at them, the kayakers confirmed that they were able to see little Rollie, and that he was alive. 'We couldn't really see down the cliff; it jutted out a little bit,' Anne explained. 'So we were hoping that he'd wander out, but he wasn't moving. The kayaker jumped out of his kayak, and put Rollie between his legs and started paddling away.' A woman has thanked b/irave kayakers who saved her dog's life after her beloved pooch fell from a cliff in Dublin. Pic: Liveline/X After being told to meet them at the Sutton Dinghy Club, Anne and her partner could see the kayakers with Rollie in tow; confirming that he was alive but was bleeding and needed a vet. 'He was awake but obviously in shock. He was very quiet, but was awake and looking at us,' Anne added, saying that they brought him straight to the vet — but rushed off without being able to properly thank them for saving their pooch. As for Rollie's injury, an x-ray the next day found that Rollie suffered a number of injuries, including a liver rupture and rib injury, but after surgery, Anne said he's doing well — and despite being an injured pup, Rollie is still able to go on his morning walks with his family; albeit via a different method. Little Rollie miraculously survived the fall, and was rescued by passing kayakers — with Anne hoping that she'll be able to properly thank the people who saved her dog's life. Pic: Liveline/X 'He's a very active little dog, and he wanted to go on all our regular morning walks, so my sister in law sent us a buggy for him, a special dog buggy,' Anne laughed. 'So we drive him around every morning with our border collie so he doesn't miss out. 'We went to a wonderful vet, the Dublin Bay Vets, and we can't thank them enough.' While Rollie is recovering at home, Anne added that if it wasn't for the kayakers, he would've been a goner; saying, 'I think we would've hoped to get help from the Gardaí or the RNLI… we would've had to start figuring out how to get down' 'We just want to say to [the kayakers], we just want to apologise for not getting their names or numbers, but let them know that Rollie is safe, and you saved his life.'

Appeal to find kayakers who rescued dog that fell from Howth cliff
On March 9, Anne Lynch was walking the seven-year-old Pomeranian along the cliff walk, when Rollie took a wrong turn and fell over the edge. Ms Lynch told RTÉ's Liveline today that she feared the worst as Rollie had disappeared from view. Thankfully, the Pomeranian had fallen onto rocks and was rescued by four kayakers who Ms Lynch now wants to thank properly. ' We ran over to the edge of the cliff and we got down on our tummies and we yelled for him, but we couldn't see him,' she said of the moment Rollie fell. 'We were yelling and hoping to hear a bark or a cry, but we didn't hear anything.' While waiting for the Gardaí, Anne says her partner spotted kayakers in the distance, paddling their way. ' Michelle, my partner, looked up and saw these four kayakers. We just started jumping and yelling and waving,' she said. 'Originally they just kind of waved back at us because they were quite the way out. But they finally started coming in and we asked, 'Can you see a little dog down on the bottom there?' 'They said, 'Yeah, we see him … he's alive'.' One of the kayakers got out of his kayak and reached Rollie before reuniting the injured dog with its owner at Sutton Dinghy Club. ADVERTISEMENT ' They handed him to me and, he [the kayaker] said, 'I think he's in shock',' Ms Lynch said. 'He wasn't moving, he was just looking at me.' Rollie had ruptured his ankle, but after numerous x-rays and vet visits, is finally on the mend. ' It's been a long road to recovery. He may still always have a limp. But he's gonna be all right,' Ms Lynch said. Two months on, she now wishes to find the kayakers who rescued her beloved dog and thank them properly. 'Everyone was so wonderful and so worried and trying to help in any way they could,' she said. 'The kayakers, the way they acted so quickly. We'll never forget it.'

Known for delivering affordable fashion and homeware, the high street giant seems to have introduced another crowd-pleaser. The Edit Footbed Sandals from Primark show a remarkable resemblance to the luxury brand Rollie's version but come at a fraction of the cost. Both pairs feature essential design elements like a moulded footbed, cork layering, a flat sole, and an open, rounded toe front. They also boast similar crossover straps and are available in comparable colour schemes. Yet, there are subtle differences between the two. Primark's product description reads: "Take every step in style with these Footbed Sandals from The Edit – where fashion meets all day comfort! These slip-on sandals feature suede-effect straps with elegant detailing for a touch of glamour," reports the Mirror. The retailer adds: "The adjustable fastening ensures a secure fit, while the sole provides grip for easy all-day wear. Pair them with your favourite summer dress or relaxed denim for a chic, laid-back look. Ready to strut in style?" The description for the Rollie shoe states: "Craving stylish comfort?
