Palestinian Islamic Jihad loses contact with group holding Israeli soldier
Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) on Tuesday announced that it has lost contact with its own guards that are holding an Israeli soldier captive in Gaza. PIJ said it does not know the fate of Rom Braslavski or those who were assigned to keep him alive. Fighting factions in Gaza, including Hamas, have often lost contact with one another and their own teams as they turn to more primitive communication methods to avoid detection and surveillance.

We lost contact with unit guarding 'Israeli' captive Rom Braslavski: Quds Brigades
The military spokesperson for Quds Brigades, Abu Hamza, announced on Tuesday that contact was lost yesterday with the security unit responsible for guarding the 'Israeli' soldier Rom Braslavski, who has been held captive in Gaza. According to the statement, the unit went out of communication following an 'Israeli' incursion and the encirclement of areas where the captive and the unit were believed to be present. "We do not know their fate at this time," Abu Hamza said. He further accused 'Israeli' Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his "extremist right-wing government" of deliberately ignoring the issue of Israeli captives since the beginning of what he described as a "genocidal war" against the Palestinian people. "The enemy's leadership is making every effort to kill its own captives and return them to their families in coffins," the spokesperson stated.

Palestinian militant group Islamic Jihad released a video Wednesday showing an Israeli hostage alive, in which he appeals to the Israeli government and U.S. President Donald Trump to secure his release. Palestinian resistance group Islamic Jihad released a video Wednesday showing an Israeli alive, in which he appeals to the Israeli government and US President Donald Trump to secure his release. Israeli media identified him as Rom Braslavski from Jerusalem, who was abducted on October 7, 2023. In the nearly seven-minute video, the captive, appearing to speak under duress, lifts his shirt to reveal scratch marks on his skin. He gestures frequently with his hands as he pleads for his release. He also describes enduring severe conditions, citing a lack of food and water. On October 7, Palestinian militants abducted 251 people to Gaza. Of those, 58 remain in captivity, including 34 whom the Israeli military says are deceased.
