Jet Li sparks health concerns after sharing video from hospital bed

Jet Li sparked concern on Aug 17 after sharing a video of himself in a hospital bed. Photos: Jet Li/Weibo, Jet Li/Douyin China-born action superstar Jet Li raised health concerns after posting a video of himself in a hospital bed on Sunday (Aug 17). In the clip shared on Douyin, the Chinese version of TikTok, the 62-year-old was seen resting with IV drips attached. The actor didn't disclose the reason for his hospitalisation, simply captioning the post: 'I've recently faced another unexpected challenge.' Li, who now holds Singaporean citizenship, also shared on Weibo a photo taken in a corridor outside what appeared to be an operating room. "There's a problem with my hardware, so I sent it back to the factory for repair... Don't worry too much about me," he wrote. The photos quickly went viral on social media, drawing an outpouring of well wishes and prayers for his recovery. Industry sources later reassured fans that Li's condition isn't serious and that he's only undergoing short-term treatment. 'It's just a small benign tumour, once removed there's nothing to worry about,' a source close to the actor told Chinese media. In a Weibo update on Monday (Aug 18), Li shared a photo of himself enjoying some noodles, revealing that he has already been discharged. "Thank you again for your thoughts and blessings. I'm sorry for worrying everyone. I've left the factory and am eating something delicious," he wrote in the captions. Li was first diagnosed with hyperthyroidism in 2010. While the condition initially left him looking frail, the Romeo Must Die (2000) star later reassured fans that his illness was manageable with medication. Over the years, Li's changing appearance led to constant speculations about his health – including multiple death hoaxes. During his first public appearance in years in November 2023, Li said he was surprised so many people believed those rumours.

Suda51 returns with a sword-swinging, gun-slinging, sci-fi action game

Grasshopper Manufacture founder Suda51 made an appearance at Sony's State of Play showcase to reveal Romeo is a Dead Man — a game that has no relation to the 2000 action masterpiece Romeo Must Die , as far as we can tell. Romeo is a Dead Man stars Romeo Stargazer, a dude who was pulled back from the brink of death, gained time-shattering powers, and became a universe-hopping special agent for the FBI. Using a sword and guns, Romeo battles various sci-fi robots and beasts across multiple universes, featuring hyper-bloody gameplay. By the time I finished watching the debut trailer for Romeo is a Dead Man , I'd completely forgotten that it started out with a hand-drawn cartoon family enjoying a nice curry dinner. It quickly devolves into a black-, white- and red-splattered fever dream of exploding heads and doorway demons, providing the first hint that this is definitely a Suda51 project. Grasshopper Manufacture's previous games include Killer7, No More Heroes , Lollipop Chainsaw and Killer is Dead , and its latest release seems to fit right in with these titles. Romeo is a Dead Man is a third-person action game, and it's due to hit PlayStation 5 in 2026.

Action star Jet Li attends youngest daughter's graduation ceremony in the US

Chinese born-superstar Jet Li recently attended his youngest daughter Jada's graduation ceremony in New York, the United States. Photos: Jet Li/Weibo Action star Jet Li recently travelled to New York, the United States, for his youngest daughter Jada's graduation ceremony. In a Weibo post, Li, who has kept a low profile in recent years, shared his joy at seeing all four of his daughters successfully complete their college education. 'Dad is at the bottom of the list, with not even a diploma,' the 62-year-old joked in the caption, before adding, 'This is the highlight of my life, so please allow me to show off!' Accompanying his post were five photos – including two with Jada, 22, and one of him at the graduation hall. While in New York, Li also spent time with his 25-year-old daughter Jane, exploring the city together by taking the train, strolling through Central Park and enjoying hot dogs. The actor, who was born in mainland China, also expressed his gratitude to the ethusiastic fans who gathered outside his hotel in the US just to meet him. 'It was a rare half-day of leisure. I thought to myself how nice it is to enjoy such a simple and ordinary day. 'The moment I returned to the hotel, my world changed. I was blocked at the entrance. Thank you all for still liking me after all these years,' he wrote. Li has two younger daughters – Jada (middle) and Jane – from his second marriage to actress Nina Li Ching. For the record, Li has two older daughters – Si Li, 37, and Taimi, 35 – from his first marriage to former actress Huang Qiuyan, which ended in divorce in 1990. In 1999, Li went on to marry fellow actress Nina Li Ching, with whom he shares Jane and Jada. Although rumours have circulated about a strained relationship between Li and his two older daughters following his divorce from Huang, the actor personally denied these claims in 2023. Li debuted with the 1982 film Shaolin Temple and has starred in projects such as Once Upon A Time In China (1991 to 1997), Romeo Must Die (2000), The Mummy: Tomb Of The Dragon Emperor (2008) and more. His last acting project was Disney's 2020 live-action remake of Mulan .
