Palak Tiwari says mom Shweta Tiwari is her toughest critic: ‘ She's tackled the same kinds of roles at my age.... '

Palak Tiwari recently opened up in an interview about the powerful influence her mother, television icon Shweta Tiwari , has on her personal and professional life. Talking to The Free Press Journal, when asked if her mother is her most honest critic, Palak responded confidently, 'Indubitably, yes.' She shared that Shweta knows her abilities and flaws even better than she does herself. Reflecting on their parallel journeys, Palak said, 'Our journeys are eerily similar — this is roughly the same age she began her career, actually five years younger than I am now. So, she knows the traps and pitfalls of this phase — she sees exactly where I'm going wrong.' 'We're very similar kinds of performers' Palak emphasized that what makes their relationship special is not just the mother-daughter dynamic, but the fact that Shweta is also a seasoned actor who understands the craft deeply. 'We're very similar kinds of performers,' Palak explained. 'She's tackled the same kinds of roles at my age, so when she gives feedback, it's from experience.' Palak shared how Shweta's guidance goes beyond lines and delivery; she notices subtle facial expressions and gestures, offering detailed insights that only someone with years in the industry could provide. With a smile, Palak said, 'She raised me, after all. So she'll watch me and say, 'That thing you do with your eyes, cute in person, not flattering on screen.' It's invaluable, really.' 'When we argue, I get scared…' Palak also recounted a personal story about how deeply her mother's feedback runs. 'She once told me, 'When we argue, I get scared seeing your angry expressions. They're so intense, I hope they never translate badly on screen.' And I was like, 'Seriously? While I was trying to ace that monologue, you were judging my facial expressions?' But that's just her, she always sees the bigger picture.' Despite having a mother who isn't afraid to point out her flaws, Palak approaches her career with grace, balancing the legacy she inherits with her own evolving identity. On the work front, Palak was last seen in 'Romeo S3', a thriller where an officer investigates a drug ring involving virus-laced drugs. The film was directed by Guddu Dhanoa . Romeo S3 Movie Review: A formulaic masala fare that lacks focus

Story: DCP Sangram Singh Shekhawat (Thakur Anoop Singh) sets out to take down a deadly drug cartel in Goa. But when he crosses paths with a vengeful mafioso, the mission spirals into a deeper conspiracy—one that threatens the entire nation. Review: Director Guddu Dhanoa's action thriller follows a fiery cop, Sangram, who goes undercover to infiltrate a drug cartel and expose its masterminds. At the same time, he is investigating his mentor's murder and grows convinced the two cases are connected. The story takes an unexpected turn, unfolding into a larger conspiracy involving a deadly virus—its only antidote in the hands of the self-proclaimed 'monster' mafioso, Jayant Makhija (Aman Dhaliwal). In the midst of this chaos, Sangram must also rescue investigative journalist Tanu (Palak Tiwari) after she's abducted by Jayant and his father. Written by Shailesh Verma, the film is an out-and-out potboiler that suffers from a formulaic plot, an unfocused screenplay, and a meandering narrative. It's riddled with unexplained plot points, underdeveloped characters, and implausible twists—like Sangram's transfer being stalled simply because a video of his vigilante-style justice against rapists goes viral. Despite the below-par narrative, the film's first half maintains an even pace and keeps you somewhat engaged as Sangram outsmarts the cartel. The film's production values and overall look are serviceable, even if not standout. There are a few well-choreographed action sequences, though the film leans heavily on the tried-and-tested formula of slow-motion entries, car chases, and blowing up vehicles. The narrative is further weighed down by a one-sided love angle, with Tanu falling for Sangram, and songs that interrupt the flow. Thakur Anoop Singh handles the action scenes well and has a decent screen presence, though his characterisation and performance often echo Ranveer Singh's Simmba. His emotional moments, however, don't always land. Palak Tiwari is passable as Tanu, but her character is severely underwritten, and she never quite convinces as an investigative journalist. Aman Dhaliwal enters in the second half and is excessively over-the-top as the menacing Jayant. With too many plot points crammed into a single narrative, most of them unconvincing and half-baked, the film loses focus and impact. While a few action sequences manage to grab your attention, they aren't enough to salvage the overall experience. Romeo S3 tries to deliver a massy action thriller but ends up as an over-the-top masala fare with little payoff.

However, it seems like she is more of a saver than a spendthrift. In an interview with News 18, Palak talked about Shweta's spending habits and said, "My mom has worked too hard and too much in life. And that's why she's so simple and frugal all the time. It's not about being materialistic so much so as it's about rewarding yourself." Hence, Palak takes upon herself to pamper her mother by buying her expensive and branded items. 'With the kind of name that she has earned for herself, she should carry a bag that represents that. Why shouldn't she? But she doesn't listen to me. Eventually, I get fed up and buy her stuff. The first designer bag that she owned was bought by me for her because I got tired of that one jholi she kept carrying. I couldn't see her carrying that jholi anymore," shares Palak. Palak was last seen in film The Bhootnii, starring alongside Sanjay Dutt, Mouni Roy, Sunny Singh, Aasif Khan, and Beyounick. Palak Tiwari Calls Mom Shweta ‘Frugal': ‘Was Tired Of Jholi, Got Her First Designer Bag'

Last Updated: Palak Tiwari hopes for mom Shweta Tiwari to 'reward' herself more often and carry bags that represent the name and brand that she has created for herself. Shweta Tiwari raised her children – Palak Tiwari and Reyansh Kohli – as a single mother after going through two troubled marriages. After becoming a household name with Kasautii Zindagii Kay in the early 2000s, she emerged as one of the highest paid female actors of Indian television. And yet, when it comes to money, she doesn't share the greatest relationship with it. A while back, while speaking to us, she had said that she only knows how to save money and that it's her daughter who's a spendthrift. Now, in an exclusive chat with News18 Showsha, Palak refers to her mother as 'frugal' and says that she doesn't know how to reward herself. 'My mom has worked too hard and too much in life. And that's why she's so simple and frugal all the time. It's not about being materialistic so much so as it's about rewarding yourself," she tells us. And that's why Palak doesn't think twice before pampering her by buying her expensive, branded items. 'She's a girl at the end of the day. She's still a girl at heart and every girl loves her bags. If you know that you can afford it and you deserve it, you should go for it. How much will she run behind me, nani and Reyansh? She doesn't give herself any luxury in life, which is why I ask her to prioritise herself once in a while. I tell her to stop buying my brother a new pair of shorts every two days. She can buy herself a nice bag with that money. She deserves it," says Palak. In fact, the first ever branded bag that Shweta ever carried was a gift to her from Palak. Offering us a glimpse into Shweta's habits and lifestyle, the Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan and The Bhootnii actor says, 'But I understand. She's obviously a mother and for her, my money and her money is ghar ka paisa and she doesn't want that paisa to go to Louis Vuitton (laughs). But I love spoiling her." On the work front, Palak is gearing up for the release of her film, Romeo S3, which happens to be the first film that she signed and shot for. Speaking about how Shweta accompanied her to the set momentarily, she remarks, 'She did come to the set on the first day of shoot. She said to my director, 'Sambhal lena meri lallu ko. Meri gadhi abhi tumhaari hui. Please dekh lena usse.' I think any mother would behave that way. But a few moments later, she left because she couldn't watch the shoot anymore (laughs)."
