Teen's surprise mid-flight Moana performance goes viral, sparking mixed reactions online

A video of a teenage girl's impromptu mid-flight performance has taken social media by storm, leaving many travellers divided over what is (and isn't) acceptable behaviour at 30,000 feet. Brazilian content creator Romeu shared the now-viral clip on TikTok, capturing the teen's heartfelt performance of How Far I'll Go from Disney's Moana. The girl is seen belting out the popular children's song into the plane's PA system, turning the cabin into a captive audience, whether they liked it or not. 'When your Delta flight is delayed 2 hours and you circle Orlando for another 2, but then a little girl sings Moana on the crew mic and suddenly everything feels okay,' Romeu captioned the video. While the TikTok creator loved the performance, others online are ready to activate airplane mode on the teenage girl. 'This is actually my worst nightmare and personal hell,' one user commented on the viral video. 'Imagine you finally get your baby asleep and this happens,' another unimpressed viewer said. 'She's a good singer ok, that I will admit, but NOBODY wants to hear a 12yr old singing Moana when all they're trying to do is get to where they need to go. It's not cute, it's not whimsical and joyous, it's just inconsiderate and embarrassing,' wrote another. Some questioned the teen's parents for letting their daughter take centre-stage in the aisle. One user wrote, 'No hate to the girl, but the PARENTS should know how to read a room. Not everything should be centred around your child. She isn't Moana, life isn't a Disney movie.'

‘Nightmare': Simple flight act leaves social media divided

Frustrated frequent flyers didn't quite get a fairytale ending. Travelling with kids can be a challenge, but for some, being stuck on a delayed flight with a kid singing Disney songs through the aircraft's intercom is torture worse than violent turbulence. A flight, which was delayed by two hours, before being forced to circle Orlando for an additional two hours, has gone viral after Brazil-based content creator Romeu shared the clip of the tween's performance of How Far I'll Go from the Disney film Moana. While plenty of people were prasing the sweet scenes, there were plenty more who appeared to believe it was a fate worse than death. 'This would send me over the edge,' one person commented beneath the trending clip. Video of the chaos has scored more than 1.8 million TikTok views. The viral visuals, shared by Romeu, a Brazil-based content creator, featured the tween's controversial crooning on the flight — which was delayed by two hours and then was forced to circle Orlando for two additional hours before landing. 'This is actually my worst nightmare and personal hell,' an equally unimpressed onlooker ranted, referring to the little princess's impromptu performance. 'I would cry tears of anger,' wrote another. 'Absolutely zero hate to this girl but major side-eye to her parents,' a separate naysayer said. 'Even if it were a professional singer, I do not want to be subjected to a concert without consent.' When on a flight, folks barely want to hear you speak. Bobbi Storm, 36, a Grammy-nominated gospel singer, was nearly booted off a 2023 Delta flight when she refused to stop performing her new single — which she insisted was just her 'doing what the Lord is telling me to do.' And Taylor Swift fanatics irked a plane-full of peeved people with their rendition of the pop star's Bad Blood during a Southwest Airlines flight out of Colorado that same year. Footage of the ill-fated singalong scared up 1.7 million TikTok views from annoyed online audiences. 'I would have to ask to be put on a different plane,' one commenter crowed. 'I just wanna fly, not listen to a bunch of women sing.' But when it came to the mini Moana wannabe on Romeu's Orlando flight, a handful of cyber spectators did indeed appreciate the gal's sweet sounds. 'She's actually really good!!!!' wrote an emphatic fan. 'I think it's cute considering it's a flight to Orlando,' another agreed. 'Probably full of kids anxious to get to Disney.' 'I would've sung with her,' added a supporter. 'I love Moana.'

Flight Delayed by Two Hours—No One Prepared for What Young Passenger Does

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. A flight to Orlando was delayed for hours when a young girl decided to treat frustrated passengers to a song, according to a viral video. TikTok user Romeu, who posts under the username @druziroaming, posted the clip Wednesday, and wrote in a caption: "When your Delta flight is delayed 2 hours and you circle Orlando for another 2... But then a little girl sings Moana on the crew mic and suddenly everything feels okay." It showed a girl with the PA system phone held up to her face, singing How Far I'll Go from the hugely popular 2016 Disney movie. Some passengers can be heard humming or singing along, while others look back at her with a smile on their face. Newsweek has contacted Delta Airlines for comment outside of business hours and will update this story if they respond. The video exploded in popularity, and has been viewed close to 9 million times in around 24 hours, along with picking up more than 1.1 million likes. But while Romeu appeared to enjoy the surprise concert, others in the comments weren't as kind, expressing they wouldn't be happy if this happened on their flight, and saying it should not have been allowed. Romeu's video was by far the most viral, but several other flight passengers shared the experience from their own seats. One, from user @stephtravelstories, showed a woman looking displeased as the singing echoed over the intercom. But her partner, sitting beside her, appeared to be loving it, nodding his head and giving the peace sign. And one, from user @maadisyyyynn, described the singing girl as "brave." Madisyn's video showed her happily mouthing along to the words as the girl sang, and grinning at the camera. Stock image of flight passengers sitting on a plane. Dovapi/Getty Images In the comments, Madisyn said a lot of the flight were "definitely annoyed," because many people had missed connecting flights due to the delay, but said she herself enjoyed it, and said that, when the girl was finished, many people clapped for her. Various stitches and reposts from users were also less than complimentary about the incident. Orlando is home to the Walt Disney World Resort and Epcot, which features a Moana-inspired attraction called Journey of Water, with the character of Moana available to meet at Disney World itself. In 2023 alone, Disney World boasted more than 17 million Disney fan visitors to the park, according to data from Statista. Do you have funny and adorable videos or pictures you want to share?
