Birmingham man killed while allegedly trying to elude police officer
PLEASANT GROVE, Ala. (WIAT) — A 67-year-old Birmingham man was killed in crash that happened while he was allegedly trying to elude a Pleasant Grove police officer Monday.
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, Ronald Morton was fatally injured when the Nissan Altima he was operating hit head-on with a Toyota Highlander. The crash happened around 12:20 p.m. on Ensley Pleasant Grove Road.
Alabaster police officer Rishan Wright dies following brief illness
Morton, who was reportedly not wearing a seat belt, died at the scene. The driver of the Highlander was transported to UAB Hospital for medical treatment.
Troopers with the ALEA Highway Patrol Division are investigating the crash.
