Speaking on 24 Hours in Lidl, she revealed how to get up to 60 per cent off full price items. Roo said there is a specific time to get more value for money, but you need to act fast. The best time to shop in the nationwide stores is between 4-5pm, when the orange sticker markdowns begin to appear. Roo said: "They have set points in the day where you do a check and a refill with whatever has been left out. "You'll actually see them being marked down, so you'll be able to get them before they go back out onto the shelves. "They're not marked down on the day like other supermarkets, they're marked down two days before, generally." 4 The supermarket has deals on cupboard essentials including pasta and couscous Credit: Getty Images - Getty Greek, French and Italian week are popular and can be a good opportunity for you to stock up on items including pasta and cous cous. The supermarket puts out 5kg boxes of wonky fruit and veg for just £1.50 every morning. This could save you around £3.50 compared to buying all the items separately. 'Thousands of people watch me clean online - daily shower hack is game-changer'

As someone who used to have a messy room when they were younger, Roo Day has turned things around and has become known to hundreds of thousands online for her nifty cleaning hacks With more than 850,000 followers on Instagram, Roo Day is known for her nifty cleaning hacks and motivational videos. Whether she's seeing how much she can clean in 60 minutes, deep cleaning her dishwasher or adding vacuum lines to her velvet sofa, the 'cleanfluencer' has the motivation to do household chores that many of us dread. But it hasn't always been the case. "When I was younger, my room was honestly the biggest mess. I was the girl who would have cups of tea that would grow their own life forms in every room. Genuinely, all of my friends love to bring that up. I tell everyone on the internet that at the first opportunity," she says. ‌ ‌ "I feel like for me, I'm just not a naturally clean, tidy person. It's something that I've had to really, really teach myself, and it's something that came with me being more house-proud. Once you were like paying the bills and you have the house yourself, you suddenly do then become a lot more house-proud. It's something that I've really grown at as I've grown up." As part of her cleaning routine, fans of Roo will recognise her famous one-hour speed cleans. In a bid to take the dreaded overwhelming feeling that can come with tackling a huge tidy up, Roo gives herself 60 minutes to see just how much she can clean when up against the timer. She sticks a timer on her iPad and takes her followers along for the ride - and people are hooked. 'The motivation is the fact that it is only one hour. I think if you're not limiting yourself to an hour, the amount that I get done could easily take you a few hours. I found that I was taking two, three hours to get the same amount done that I was getting done if I just put myself under that time limit and if I put my phone away," she says. 'If I didn't have the timer, I'd probably sit down, have a little doom scroll, get distracted and find something else to do. Whereas when I'm on a time limit I'm like, no, this is just my one solid hour to do it. I think people can really amaze themselves with the amount that they are able to get done in an hour.' ‌ As Roo knows all too well, some tasks simply add up. Where at first you may think it'll take an hour to sort the entire bathroom out, three hours in you realise you're nowhere near finishing. However, that's where Roo says acceptance is important. 'It's about saying, okay, all I have is an hour right now. I'm going to start it, I'm going to do the best I can. If you start cleaning your bathroom and you didn't actually do the shower, you did not actually manage to deep clean the toilet, that's okay. You can come back to that another day. It's just about doing your best in an hour and being fine with what you didn't get done. There's always tomorrow to come back,' she explains. As well as sharing her handy – and relatable – cleaning and lifestyle hacks online, Roo has written the book Getting Sh*t Done. Just like her social media pages, the book is bursting with advice on how we can get the maximum done in the shortest time frame and break down everyday tasks into small, stackable habits. ‌ 'One thing that I find incredibly useful is weaving it amongst your day and habit stacking it in. Every time you're making yourself a tea or brewing yourself a coffee, use the time the kettle's boiling to unload the dishwasher. Or after you've had a shower, give it a quick wipe over. I feel like a lot of people will stand there and zone out in the shower, but I zone out while I'm scrubbing,' she says. 'It's finding ways to tie your cleaning habits to existing things that you're already doing. It's such a good way to fit in as much as you can throughout the day.' Getting Sh*t Done by Roo Day (£16.99) is out now

Why you should keep dogs out of water after couple's beloved pet dies after walk

Hannah May Washington and Jordan Shearman have urged dog owners to be extra careful on walks after the death of tragic Cocker Spaniel Roo. If you're out on a walk with your dog on a hot day - and they seem to be fairly common at the moment - it's only natural that your furry friend might want to splash into a burn or pond to cool off. And as long as there are no superfast currents or hidden drops, surely they'll be fine, right? Not necessarily. One couple sadly said goodbye to their beloved pet after a seemingly innocent dook in a lake. And they are warning all dog owners to be careful when around water with their pooches, just in case the worst could happen to them too, Wiltshire Live reports. ‌ Hannah May Washington and boyfriend Jordan Shearman were out in Anton Lankes in Andover, Hampshire, on April 30, 2022, with one-year-old Cocker Spaniel Roo. ‌ Their pup loved splashing around in the water on their regular walks there, but there was something amiss on this trip. The couple said: "We have taken Roo to the lakes many times before, but not so much recently, and did notice that a lot of the areas he would usually swim, was incredibly dirty, much more so than normal, so we didn't spend so much time swimming in those areas, however he did jump in briefly for a lot of them" Anton Lakes sits just north of Andover, and boasts a river and a lake within its nature reserve. Despite its beauty, it was suspected that there may have been blue-green algae in the water, which is deadly to dogs. According to the UK Centre for Ecology and Hydrology, the substance is a type of bacteria which can produce toxic chemicals that are very harmful to both humans and animals. It naturally occurs in lakes, ponds, canals, rivers, and reservoirs. UKCEH said: "They are particularly a health risk during warm summer months when their concentrations increase in the water to form blooms and scums on the surface. This can look like green or turquoise wispy paint, green scum or clumps of green particles". Roo's walk seemed to be fairly normal until the pup's eyes appeared a bit droopy towards the end of the trip. The couple said: "We figured he had gotten too much water in his eyes so we decided to end the walk and return to the car". ‌ But on the way home, Hannah "knew straight away something was wrong" as the dog was unsettled and struggling to stand up. They rushed Roo straight to Strathmore Veterinary Clinic. Hannah said: "While in my arms Roo began to have fits, struggling to breath, foaming at the mouth, it was the worst experience of my life having to hold him, speaking to him, telling him mummy and daddy loved him." ‌ But in the 15 minutes it took to get to the vets, the Cocker Spaniel pup had become worryingly pale and struggling to breathe. His heart then stopped beating and, around 7pm that day, Roo tragically passed away. Hannah said: "Our worst nightmare had officially happened, our precious, young, baby Roo had lost his life, so suddenly." The couple, who were 23 and 24 at the time, had just celebrated one year living together in their first home. Speaking about Roo, Hannah said: "He was everything in our lives, quite literally. Our lives, our habits, our plans, revolved around our lovely pup, and so I can't even begin to describe the pain we are in." ‌ Hannah and Jordan shared their story as a warning to dog owners about the dangers of blue-green algae, and how deadly it can be. Test Valley Borough Council tested the water in the days after Roo's death, issuing a warning to locals to "please keep dogs out of the water" at Anton Lakes. "Although no cause of death has been confirmed with the council, following feedback from the vet we are taking a precautionary approach and are working with the Environment Agency to test the water for blue-green algae. 'This algae occurs naturally in bodies of freshwater but can be potentially dangerous to people and their pets. We are hoping to receive the results of the tests by the end of next week, and while we await the outcome, we are recommending that people and pets stay out of the water. Residents and pet owners can find out more about blue-green algae and its effects via the Kennel Club website.' ‌ In August that year, Miniature Jack Russell Maple also died after a walk at Anton Lakes. The water was tested again and "low levels" of blue-green algae were found. According to the Kennel Club the effects of blue-green algae on dogs may vary but there are some recognised effects including: dribbling tiredness vomiting and diarrhoea (both of which may be bloody) effects on the heart and blood pressure convulsions problems breathing organ failure They add that signs often start within an hour, but may occur within a few minutes, or can sometimes be delayed by a few days. Many cases are life threatening and dogs can die very quickly.
