Tiger Woods secret Ryder Cup role revealed in US bid to wrest back trophy
American captain reveals the importance of Woods to his build-up Keegan Bradley has revealed the in-depth Tiger Woods advice and support in his bid to rip back The Ryder Cup. The United States skipper is set to emulate his iconic countryman by being a playing-captain for his country. Woods did the dual role during America's 2019 Presidents Cup triumph over The Internationals at Royal Melbourne. Bradley is edging closer to the 12-man team with a three-under score at the halfway mark of The Open another big step towards ditching his walkie-talkie for clubs. Woods is handing out vital pointers in how to do both jobs and Bradley said: 'Tiger has been really helpful. He obviously turned this position down and it came to me, so he's been very helpful in this process. 'Tiger has been really, really great to me over the course of my career. He does a lot of things for us players that he doesn't do for the media. so he's been really helpful to me my whole life. 'Really kind to me actually. During this process, he's been one of the most helpful people that I've had. 'So many times in my career I've leaned on other players to help me go through situations, whether it's endorsements or certain situations or how I feel in tournaments. I have no one to talk to about this. I can't call someone who's done it. 'Tiger did it at the Presidents Cup. I've spoken to him a ton about this. There's a few other guys that have done it in the Presidents Cup. The Ryder Cup is a much different animal.' Bradley copped it from Euro fans as Ryder Cup fever made its way to Portrush. He was minding his own business walking off the ninth tee during the second round just as a giant roar went up from the Rory McIlroy Army nearby. McIlroy's birdie putt at the fourth caused an eruption of noise and there was also cheering just down the bottom of the next fairway as Bob MacIntyre also tapped in for a birdie of his own at the fifth. Bradley was having an amiable chat with countryman Daniel Berger at the time as he made his way down back up from the far-end of the Dunluce Links when the impressive work of the European boys going on around him became too much for one excited local to keep inside. As the USA captain got to within a few yards of the fan lurking just outside the ropes waiting to cross the fairway, the barb of: 'Go on, Europe.' soared into the air aimed right into the lughole of the New England man. Bradley is savouring the fact he can star at The Open and plan Bethpage as he said: 'The home team usually plays a certain way. You can look it up. We're very close to signing the captain's agreement and getting the course of play set. ''ve got to play really well to make the team just as if I wasn't the captain. I had a very similar year at Rome and didn't make the team. I have to keep going. I really need to play well this event and then in the Playoffs. 'I want to obviously wait until the time comes to pick the players and see how I'm doing, and if there's somebody that is playing great that can take my spot, I'll be thrilled for that. I just want to put the best team on the course at Bethpage. I have to really figure out how this would work, but we have a plan. We have a 'for instance' that could happen. 'That can obviously change during the week. You've got to see how each player is playing. But we're learning as we go just like everybody else.'

Keegan Bradley receives barb from Europe fans as Ryder Cup fever hits The Open
American skipper got it in the lug from a chirpy local at Portrush Keegan Bradley copped it from European fans as Ryder Cup fever made its way to The Open. The American skipper was minding his own business walking off the ninth tee during the second round at Royal Portrush just as a giant roar went up from the Rory McIlroy Army nearby. As the USA captain got to within a few yards of the fan lurking just outside the ropes waiting to cross the fairway, the barb of: 'Go on, Europe.' soared into the air aimed right into the lugholes of the New England man. Bradley has made it clear that he is not going to discourage the home fans from turning up the heat on Luke Donald's side when they get to Bethpage and he himself has been carried by a wave of euphoria during events in his homeland ever since being appointed as the boss. Chants of 'USA, USA' have met Bradley whenever he has stepped onto a Stateside piece of turf, but this was an opportunity for a home fan to turn the tables and it was not going to be missed. Bradley gave it the rubber ear as he didn't stop his conversation with Berger and drifted away down the fairway to play his ninth hole. The Euro boys know it is going to be heavy duty for them when they get to Bethpage in September and made it clear to his team that is going to be ruthless. Donald gathered his established stars and some team hopefuls together at an East Lothian setting last weekend ahead of the Genesis Scottish Open for a gathering where the squad assembled and enjoyed dinner and a relaxed evening. Danish kid Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen, who was at the event, gave an insight into the messaging from the grouping from the skipper as he revealed: 'His message was, you know, we know that the environment we're going to go into in New York is going to be nothing like a European side's ever seen before. 'It's going to be absolutely ruthless and the better we can be at not reacting to whatever might be there emotionally, just kind of keeping our head down and minding our business and sticking together as a group, the stronger we can be as a team. 'One thing is that we have world-class players, but the better we can be as a team, the better chance we have to go get the trophy home with us.'
