Harry Potter TV reboot series starts filming as more cast members announced

Production on the new Harry Potter TV series has begun, with further casting announced and filming taking place in Hertfordshire The eagerly awaited Harry Potter TV series has officially begun production, with additional casting details now revealed. The new HBO adaptation of the beloved fantasy novels is currently being filmed at Warner Bros Studios Leavesden in Watford, Hertfordshire. On Monday, HBO unveiled further casting news: young actor Rory Wilmot will portray Harry's schoolmate Neville Longbottom, while Amos Kitson has been cast as his cousin Dudley Dursley. Sherlock's Louise Brealey is set to play Hogwarts' Quidditch coach Madam Rolanda Hooch, and Game Of Thrones' Anton Lesser will take on the role of wandmaker Garrick Ollivander. ‌ Each season promises to be a faithful rendition of JK Rowling's Harry Potter books, with the author also serving as an executive producer. ‌ This follows the highly successful film adaptations that featured Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint in the lead roles. Other previously announced cast members include acclaimed American actor John Lithgow as Hogwarts headmaster Professor Albus Dumbledore, Welsh comedian and actor Paul Whitehouse as Hogwarts caretaker Argus Filch, and The Rivals' Katherine Parkinson as Molly Weasley. ‌ The first official snapshot from the series showcases McLaughlin dressed as Harry, donning his iconic black robes and red Gryffindor uniform. Bertie Carvel, who is set to play Cornelius Fudge in HBO's upcoming series, recently revealed he may not remain part of the show beyond the first season. Speaking to The Times, the acclaimed British actor admitted his future in the highly anticipated reboot could hinge on the fans' reaction to his portrayal of the Minister of Magic. He told his interviewers: "I don't know how it's going to fit into my life. I've read one script, which I loved, and I've read the books. ‌ "I hadn't before I got the role. I think I saw one of the films, maybe two. As a boy if I had read these books I would have devoured them. So I am coming at it with a really open mind. "Whether I come back [after the first series] probably depends on what the fans think. I mean, I'll be furious if it's not an amazing part." In addition to the new cast, HBO also confirmed a number of new department heads for the series. These include Director of Photography Adriano Goldman, Hair and Makeup Designer Cate Hall, Stunt Coordinator Paul Herbert and SFX Supervisor Mark Holt.
