Mark Dowd set to become new Roscommon manager
Mark Dowd has been named as Roscommon's new senior football manager, replacing Davy Burke. The current Roscommon Gaels manager was part of a management team that won an All-Ireland in 2006 with the county and was part of the backroom team for the senior side's Connacht titles in 2010 and 2019. Dowd also previously managed the county's Under-21 side, winning a Connacht title in 2015. Well thought of, Dowd was also part of the management team that won the Senior title in 2022 in Strokestown and brought the Gaels to a county final in 2024. His backroom team has not yet been announced, and his appointment is subject to ratification. Roscommon Chairman Brian Carroll said: 'We are delighted to welcome Mark Dowd as the incoming manager of the Roscommon Senior Football team. Mark has an outstanding track record at both club and county level, and he brings with him a wealth of knowledge, experience, and passion for Roscommon football. We are confident that his leadership will help drive this team forward and build on the progress of recent years. I have had the pleasure of working with Mark on numerous occasions over the last 12 years and I know the Roscommon Senior Football team is in safe hands going forward. On behalf of Roscommon GAA, I would like to wish Mark every success in the role and assure him of our full support as he begins this exciting new chapter.' Roscommon earned promotion back to Division One in 2025, but endured a difficult Championship campaign where they finished bottom of their All-Ireland group and were knocked out in the Connacht

Roscommon GAA to propose Mark Dowd as new football manager
Mark Dowd is set to become the Roscommon senior football manager following the conclusion of Roscommon GAA's recruitment process. The Strokestown native will be put forward for ratificaiton at the next Roscommon GAA county board meeting. Dowd brings a wealth of experience in management and coaching at both club and intercounty level. He was part of the 2006 minor management team which claimed the All-Ireland Minor title and guided Ballaghaderreen to the Mayo SFC title in 2012. He also managed the Roscommon U21 team to a Connacht championship title in 2015. Dowd was part of the coaching setup during Roscommon's Connacht SFC wins in 2010 and 2019. He played a key role in his home club's 2022 Roscommon senior championship triumph. He is currently the manager of Roscommon Gaels.
