Castle Cary firearm report leads to arrest of teenager

Police investigating reports of someone acting suspiciously with a suspected firearm have arrested a and Somerset Police said it received two calls earlier about an incident in Castle Cary, with both callers believing the man may potentially be in possession of a black officers detained a man in his late teens at an address on Station Road at 09:00 GMT.A black baseball bat was recovered and the teenager arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence. Insp Roseanna Green, of the local neighbourhood policing team said: "Searches of the address are ongoing and at this time we've not located a firearm."Needless to say the members of the public who reported their concerns to us did absolutely the right thing in calling us straight away."Police say more visible patrols will be carried out in their area in the coming days to reassure the local community.

Boy, 15, arrested after man and teenager are stabbed

A 15-year-old boy has been arrested after a man and a teenager were stabbed. Police were called to Raglan Terrace, Yeovil, at around 15:30 GMT yesterday to reports of a serious assault. A man in his 50s and a teenage boy were taken to hospital by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries. Police confirmed this morning that a boy, 15, was being held in custody on suspicion of wounding with intent and affray. The man's injuries are described as serious but not life changing, and he remains in hospital. The boy's injuries were described as superficial and he has been discharged. Neighbourhood Policing Insp Roseanna Green said: "We understand this will be alarming and distressing for members of our community. "We have dedicated resources carrying out enquiries into this incident and members of the public can expect to see a heightened police presence over the coming days. "Neighbourhood policing officers will be conducting high visibility patrols throughout the town following this incident and we will be working with local schools to provide reassurance."
