Castle Cary firearm report leads to arrest of teenager

Police investigating reports of someone acting suspiciously with a suspected firearm have arrested a teenager.Avon and Somerset Police said it received two calls earlier about an incident in Castle Cary, with both callers believing the man may potentially be in possession of a black firearm.Firearms officers detained a man in his late teens at an address on Station Road at 09:00 GMT.A black baseball bat was recovered and the teenager arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.
Insp Roseanna Green, of the local neighbourhood policing team said: "Searches of the address are ongoing and at this time we've not located a firearm."Needless to say the members of the public who reported their concerns to us did absolutely the right thing in calling us straight away."Police say more visible patrols will be carried out in their area in the coming days to reassure the local community.
