Karavali Utsav from today in Hubballi
Hubballi: The Rotary Club of Hubli Midtown and the Inner Wheel Club of Hubli Midtown have jointly organised a Karavali Utsav ( coastal festival ) at the Kallur Layout Ground behind the new court in Hubballi. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The event will be held from Thursday to Saturday, said Rotary Club of Hubballi Midtown president Dinesh Shetty. Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Shetty described the coastal festival as a celebration of sea life, featuring colours and emotions through exhibitions and sales. This marks the first such event in North Karnataka. The festival will be inaugurated by speaker UT Khader at 5pm on May 1. Notable attendees include Union minister Pralhad Joshi, district minister Santosh Lad, legislative council chairman Basavaraj Horatti, MP Jagadish Shettar, MLAs Aravind Bellad, Prasad Abbayya, Mahesh Tenginakai, MLC Pradeepa Shettar, mayor Ramanna Badiger, deputy commissioner Divya Prabhu, municipal commissioner Rudresh Ghali, and police commissioner N Shashikumar. The festival will feature over 50 commercial stalls offering food, ready-made clothes, and household items. On Thursday, from 7pm to 9pm, Nandgokul artistes from Mangaluru will present the renowned Mandarthi Mahatme traditional dance performance. The programme includes a Nara Shardula Yakshagana performance by Alvas students on May 2 from 6pm to 9pm. On May 3, there will be a magic show by Kudroli Ganesh from 6.30pm to 9pm, and a Pili dance performance from 4pm to 6pm. Daily cultural programmes will showcase the coastal region's cuisine, traditions, and cultural heritage. The festival will be held from 10am to 10pm with free entry for all visitors. Bunts's community leader Suggi Sudhakar Shetty, Rotary Club of Hubli Midtown secretary Praveen Bhansali, convenor of the event Koustubh Saunshikar, Inner Wheel Club of Hubli Midtown president Shilpa Shetty, and secretary Shailaja Bandage attended the press conference.

Three-day ‘Karavali Utsava' in Hubballi from May 1
Residents of Hubballi-Dharwad will get an opportunity to taste the delicacies and experience the folk art of coastal Karnataka during the 'Karavali Utsava' in Hubballi from May 1 to 3. The event is being jointly organised by Rotary Club of Hubballi Midtown and Inner Wheel Club of Hubbali Midtown Addressing a press conference at the event venue at Kallur Layout in Hubballi on April 30, Rotary Club of Hubballi Midtown president Dinesh Shetty and Inner Wheel Club of Hubbali Midtown president Shilpa Shetty briefed mediapersons about the three-day event, which is being held in Hubballi for the first time. Dinesh Shetty said that the objective of 'Karavali Utsava' was to introduce the food and culture of the coastal region to the people of north Karnataka. The event will be inaugurated by Speaker of Karnataka Legislative Assembly U.T. Khader at 5 p.m. Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, district-in-charge minister Santosh Lad, and a host of elected representatives are expected to participate in the inaugural session. Shilpa Shetty said that, on the inaugural day, 'Mandarti Mahatme', a dance drama, would be staged by Arehole Pratishthana of Mangaluru at 7 p.m. 'On May 2 at 6 p.m., students of Alva's institutions from Moodbidri will present 'Nara Shardoola' Yakshagana episode. On May 3, magician Kudroli Ganesh will hold show from 6.30 p.m. On the same day, there will be 'Pili (Tiger) Dance' from 4 p.m. During the event, every day there will be 'Chande Mela'. Event Chair from Innerwheel Club Shashimangala Aithal said that there would be 50 stalls, including 12 food stalls. Along with food delicacies, handicrafts, readymade garments from self-help groups would be on sale, she said. Event Chair from Rotary Club Kaustubh Saunshikar said the event was aimed at presenting the rich coastal culture and they had kept nominal charges for the stalls. Suggi Sudhakar Shetty, president of Karavali Mitra Mandali, said that all the organisations from the coastal region had extended support to the event. They plan to make it an annual event and would involve every organisation from the coastal region to make it happen. As the president of both Innerwheel and Rotary were from the coastal region, they had taken the initiative to hold such an event in Hubballi.
