2025 Memorial Cup Round-Robin Preview: Medicine Hat Tigers Versus Moncton Wildcats
After dealing with the hosts in a high scoring affair, the Medicine Hat Tigers will get their second dose of the QMJHL in this year's Memorial Cup round robin when they take on the Moncton Wildcats. Moncton has the more recent game under their belt, dropping a 3-2 decision to the London Knights, but are still a scrappy team that can score goals.
Looking at the style of play Moncton employed in Saturday's matchup, Medicine Hat will need to be on their toes. With rush chances aplenty, and high octane offense coming up the ice, the Tigers defence may have their work cut out for them but the black-and-orange back end have plenty of solid skaters to mitigate that.
Medicine Hat will need to stay out of the box as their penalty kill nearly became their undoing on Friday, allowing three power play goals. That performance is certainly out of the ordinary for them, and fans can expect a much tidier game 5v4.
After a three-point performance against Rimouski, Wiesblatt is hungry for more in game two, The Tigers captain knows how to make things happen and has a motor that doesn't seem to quit while the team follows his example.
Roussea was very much a large part of the reason the game against London went to an extra frame, as the longtime Halifax Mooseheads netminder made 45 stops in the loss. Medicine Hat will need to throw everything they have at the net, and find some creative ways to get it there.
