Ladbaby Roxanne Hoyle's rag to riches story - '£20 a week' to tea with Elton
Roxanne Hoyle, one half of internet sensation LadBaby, talks about her marriage to Mark, parenting, the dark side of fame - and a surreal celebrity moment involving Elton John She's the matriarch of Britain's most famous online family, amassing over a million followers, and a whopping five Christmas number ones. She's a comedy duo with her husband Mark, but Roxanne Hoyle – better known as LadBaby Mum – has faced her fair share of public scrutiny, from trolling to recent headlines about Mark's alleged fidelity (Roxanne insists that a man in a viral TikTok clip who seems to grope a woman on a night out was not her husband). Here, Roxanne opens up exclusively to OK! about parenting sons Phoenix, nine, and Kobe, seven, and her relationship with Mark – from those early days when they survived on '£20 a week' to being some of the most successful social media stars in history. Roxanne, you just celebrated your 10-year wedding anniversary – congrats! Thank you! We've been together longer than that, but yeah – 10 years married! For us, we're all about divide and conquer. We support each other, we have date nights, we're with the kids all the time and we work together – people always ask how we manage it! But, honestly, we're best mates. We've been through so much and come out stronger. I never thought I'd get married, let alone to someone I love so much and with two lovely boys. I'm really grateful. What was life for you two like before all this success? Well, we met over cocktails in London and fell in love – cheesy, but true. When we got pregnant with our first, Mark worked a couple of jobs and I stayed home. We had literally £20 a week to live on – it was joyful, but it was so hard. That's why we'll never forget where we came from. That's why we give back, support food banks and do what we do now. What is it about you and Mark that just works? We're like two big kids together. We never want to grow up and not have fun. After what we've been through, we just say, 'Why not?' If you get the chance, grab it. How do you protect your relationship, behind closed doors? We always talk, every day. We're close with our boys, too, they can come to us with anything. I think we've stayed the same people we were when we met 15 years ago. The world 's changed around us, but we haven't. You're very open about parenting – what's the hardest part? The fatigue – that phase when the boys were teething or not sleeping – I'd just be so tired. You can feel like you're losing yourself. But I'd always remind myself: it's a bad day, that's all. Would you have more kids? I'm really blessed with my two. People always say, 'Have a girl!' but I've got sisters and I'm happy. I feel lucky. You've said your story's one of 'never giving up'. Was writing your book, Our LadBaby Journey, emotional? Oh, yes. Mark and I are both dyslexic, so we talked it through together to write it. It was like reliving everything – the deepest, darkest moments, remembering that time, living in one room with a kettle and a bed, and then the joy of eloping for our wedding, having the kids, the Christmas songs, helping the food banks. On reflection, it was great, because we lived through that. Wow. All that before 40! It's absolutely insane. What were those dark moments you relived? Being trolled online – even when we were doing something nice, like a charity song with Ed Sheeran and Elton John. There was no reason for it, but people can be cruel. Then just the exhaustion of parenting, those early days. There were times I felt like, 'I can't do this'. But then you meet a nurse or someone who says, 'Thank you, your videos helped', and that just lifts you. You've faced harsh some comments online about your relationship, your looks – how do you deal with those? I ignore them. If anything, they light a fire in me to do more. I don't have time to waste on negativity. I can't listen. I'm just focused on the children and positivity and creating greatness that can go on to do even better things. That's what I do, that's who I am. You're looking amazing right now – has anything changed? I turned 40 last year – then everything changes! The kids are in school now, so I've got more time for me. I wanted to feel stronger, have more energy. I've changed a bit, but I'm still me. I'm embracing the age, but I also wanted more energy to keep up with my boys. I want to see them grow older, and be there for them – and able to outrun them! What's something people get wrong about you? That I've changed. But I'm still the same person. Just because I look different doesn't mean I've changed inside. I'm still just Rox. You've had five Christmas number ones – more than The Beatles! What's been a surreal celeb moment? Elton John singing back the lyrics I wrote on my sofa while drinking tea – that was cool! I even bought him silly Christmas glasses from Poundland for the video, and he wore them! Any music legends you'd love to collaborate with next? Mariah Carey would be hilarious. And Adele, singing about sausage rolls! Can you imagine? Would you do a reality show? I love a challenge. People are always asking when I'll go on Strictly because I'm always dancing – I'd love to beat Mark at dancing. I'd give it a go, as long as it's something where I could come out with a new skill. You recently visited Downing Street for the Formula for Change campaign, to make sure families have access to affordable baby formula. Why was that important to you? People should be able to afford to feed a baby – motherhood's hard enough as it is. We've always tried to use our platform for good, and to see over 100,000 people sign that petition blew us away. Our followers made a huge difference. I just pray it goes on to change the world.

WWE Raw star shades CM Punk over unwanted backstage accolade
WWE superstar Roxanne Perez has called out her mentor CM Punk for one key quality. The former NXT Women's Champion, who has been causing a stir on Monday Night Raw in recent weeks with Giulia on Netflix, didn't hesitate when she was quizzed on the men's and women's locker room. Speaking exclusively to Metro in Las Vegas, she branded Punk as the wrestler with the worst fashion sense. 'Oh my gosh. I'm sorry, Punk, but sometimes you gotta match a little bit more,' she laughed. 'I'll help you out. Gotta match the shoes with the shirt, I'm sorry!' It wasn't the only time she called out Punk in our interview, as she also named him the 'biggest s**t talker' in the locker room. She's learned a lot from the Second City Saint, who is poised to speak on tonight's Raw for the first time since WrestleMania 41, although she joked she's outgrown his advice. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video After admitting it's 'awesome' having him around, she quipped: 'I feel like sometimes he talks too much, and I feel like I know what I'm doing now, so I don't need him as much. 'But I definitely learned a lot of s**t talking from him!' At just 23 years old, Roxanne is already shining in WWE and making waves on the main roster after helping define the last two years of NXT, and her appearance in this year's WWE 2K25 is already her third video game since 2023. 'I feel like I never imagined myself doing anything else,' she said. 'I started pretty young, 13 years old. For some reason I just had a feeling that it was gonna happen if I just get going.' Roxanne – who was trained by WWE Hall of Famer Booker T – smiled: 'I feel like I manifested it, I envisioned it, and now I'm living it.' She's truly living the dream, and in January she left quite the impression as she finished runner up in the Royal Rumble, narrowly losing out to Charlotte Flair. 'It just shows how WWE views me,' she said. 'I was chosen to be last two standing with Charlotte. So I think that that just shows what the future is going to look like. And pretty soon.' The so-called Prodigy oozes confidence, but she confessed that the bravado 'definitely didn't come naturally', even after signing her first WWE contract. More Trending 'I definitely was not as confident as I am now. I was definitely nervous to be surrounded by all the people that I looked up to,' she said. '[But then] I realised that they're my equals, I could be them one day, and I could do more than them one day. So I think that's the mentality that I had to have, and I think that's got me pretty far.' View More » WWE 2K25 is out now. Netflix is the home of WWE in the UK. Boozed-up businessman refused to cough up £40,000 after bizarre John Swinney charity auction bid
Dinner guests were promised a 'once-in-a-lifetime opportunity' of having Mr Swinney as an 'employee for the morning' UNDER THE HAMMERED Boozed-up businessman refused to cough up £40,000 after bizarre John Swinney charity auction bid Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) A BOOZY charity bash guest put in a £40,000 bid to 'hire' John Swinney for a day — then refused to fork out the cash after waking up 'horrified'. The First Minister had offered to turn up at a workplace as one of the auction lots at the British Business Awards in Edinburgh. But insiders say one attendee got carried away and took part in the bidding despite not having funds to pay for the prize. Last night a senior SNP source explained: 'It seems quite a bit of drink was taken on the night. 'The guy woke up horrified the next day. That has to be the world's worst hangover — you wake up and realise you've bought the First Minister. But you don't want him. 'There was a bit of panic about what to do when it became clear the winning bidder had not been serious.' Dinner guests were promised a 'once-in-a-lifetime opportunity' of having Mr Swinney as an 'employee for the morning'. His time with a firm was limited to a maximum of two hours — and the engagement had to take place in Scotland. Event organisers confirmed the original winner had been found to be 'without the means' to pay for their new staff member. But after worries that the First Minister would be left on the scrapheap, the second top bidder, Change Waste Recycling, stepped in — and they also honoured the £40,000 hammer price. Mr Swinney was one of a series of auction lots at the glitzy event, which was hosted by Rob Brydon, star of TV shows Would I Lie to You? and Gavin and Stacey. It raised £1.2million for homelessness charity Social Bite. Guests also got the chance to bid for an array of other high-end prizes, including a three-course dinner with Deputy First Minister Kate Forbes and Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar, plus ten guests, which fetched £27,000. Guests were serenaded by ex-Police rock legend Sting, who played acoustic versions of his greatest hits, including Roxanne and Every Breath You Take. Sir Bob Geldof also attended the bash at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre. And he launched into an expletive-laden tirade against Sir Keir Starmer and US President Donald Trump. When asked if he was looking forward to his work experience stint at the waste management centre, the First Minister joked: 'I undertake a waste management activity at 6am when I'm running through the streets of Edinburgh trying to keep fit.' He also confirmed he would not be auctioning himself off to raise party funds for the SNP. Mr Swinney added: 'I don't think I'll auction my services off to any other organisation but I'm looking forward to this.' Social Bite founder Josh Littlejohn said: 'We are glad to say that Edinburgh-based firm Change Waste Recycling has generously stepped in. "They are the lucky winners to have John Swinney join them. "And a very big thanks to the First Minister for being such a good sport and for taking time out of his very busy schedule to help us raise these essential funds for Social Bite.'

Senior Dog And Owner Planned to 'Grow Old Together', Then Tragedy Struck
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. A senior dog was left facing an uncertain fate after tragedy ripped away the life she once had, leaving her all alone in the shelter. For the longest time all Roxanne, 13, knew was the happy home she shared with her owner. "The plan was to grow old together," Bruna, a volunteer at Cobb County Animal Services in Georgia, explained in a video posted to her TikTok, @ last month. Sadly, life had other plans. "Roxanne's owner passed away," Bruna, who only gave her first name, told Newsweek. "The family said they couldn't care for her, so they left her at the shelter." Roxanne was surrendered to the shelter at age 13. Roxanne was surrendered to the shelter at age 13. TikTok/ It's a sad scenario, but sadly it's one that has played out many times before. Stephen Hammond, Director of Cobb County Animal Services, told Newsweek: "We find as our population continues to age, more and more senior dogs and cats are outliving their owners. If the owners don't make arrangements in their wills or have family willing to take their pets, then they most often wind up in shelters. As you can imagine a pet that has lived with you for many years is now confused and lost without you." Bruna recalls Roxanne being left "heartbroken and confused" at her sudden change of circumstances. Yet even then, she could see she was a senior dog deserving and capable of seeing out their final few years in a happy home. "She was a little unsure of her surroundings, but she was a very loving and sweet girl from the beginning," Bruna said. It can sometimes be difficult for older dogs to attract attention from visitors. Many end up overlooked, enduring extended stays in the shelter as a result. In 2021, a study published in the journal Animals, based on data from a raft of no-kill shelters, sought to identify the common characteristics found among long-term shelter dogs. Time and time again, these dogs were found to be older in age, often ignored in favor of younger and more malleable canines available for adoption. "Senior dogs are generally harder to adopt out and usually don't fare well in a shelter," Hammond said. Sometimes they come with their own challenges and most adopters think they want a puppy. Adopters also think about the heartbreak of bonding with their new pet and then losing them within a few years. " Hammond notes that there are some but "not enough" willing to take on a senior pet. "They understand the heartbreak and are prepared for that inevitable day yet are willing to come back for the next one," he said. Bruna was determined to find one, taking to TikTok and Instagram to champion Roxanne. "Could you give her a nice and loving home for her to spend her golden years?" she asked in a post shared to both platforms. "She doesn't ask for much, all she asks for is a nice and warm bed, love, and affection." Her efforts had the desired effect. The video explaining Roxanne's situation went viral, amassing over 340,000 views. More importantly, when the dust had settled on social media, Bruna was pleased to announce that a family had decided to adopt Roxanne. Not only that, they had gone to incredible lengths to give her the forever home she deserved. "Her new family saw her video here on TikTok and drove all the way here to adopt her," Bruna revealed. "They said it took them 12 hours to come, and on the way back they left the shelter at noon and arrived back home at 3 am because of traffic." Hammond added: "Seeing a dog like Roxanne leave the shelter brings joy to all of us. We see a lot of bad and sad situations in our line of work, but it is times like this when a dog like Roxanne leaves the shelter, we are reminded the good in the world always outweighs the bad. It also provides our Team with renewed purpose and the energy to carry on knowing they are making a difference everyday. Roxanne is now adjusting to another new environment with her new family in Pennsylvania. While some adjustment will be required, Roxanne has all the attributes needed to make it a happy home. It's a remarkable turnaround for a dog that was once facing the most uncertain of futures and a reminder that there is still hope for each and every senior shelter dog.

CBB's Roxanne Pallett's life since CBB - from fleeing UK to TV star husband
Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Roxanne Pallett's once burgeoning acting career took a nosedive following her infamous 2018 stint on Celebrity Big Brother, which resulted in her being ostracised from the entertainment industry and widely condemned by the public. Hailing from Cumbria, 42 year old Roxanne first dipped her toes in showbiz with girlband Urban Angel before transitioning to acting, rising to fame as Jo Stiles in Emmerdale. Roxanne graced the ITV soap for a mere three years, yet during this time she garnered several award nominations and became a well-known figure. Her career trajectory was on the up with subsequent gigs on Dancing on Ice, Casualty, and Waterloo Road, not to mention an array of stage roles and even a stint on a radio breakfast show. However, a controversial incident involving fellow housemate Ryan Thomas in the Big Brother house turned public opinion against her, culminating in her fleeing overseas in shame. The pivotal moment that contributed to Channel 5's decision to cancel the series involved Roxanne accusing Ryan of physically assaulting her "like a boxer would punch a bag." She branded Ryan a "woman beater" and tearfully demanded his removal from the show in the Diary Room, reports the Mirror. Big Brother issued Ryan a formal warning, explaining: "Big Brother noticed that whilst almost play fighting, you punched Roxanne in the ribs." Subsequently, Roxanne refused to share a room with Ryan, citing fears for her safety, while Ryan, known for his role on Coronation Street, was visibly distressed over the allegations. Those tuning in from home saw the incident differently, accusing Roxanne Pallett of intentionally trying to depict Ryan Thomas as abusive, a claim that only proved baseless come eviction night. It was then that Ryan discovered he was vindicated, as chants of "Get Roxanne out!" echoed from the live audience. Upon her exit, Roxanne faced a challenging interview with Big Brother host Emma Willis, confessing she had made a "terrible mistake" and expressing regret by saying: "I'm the most hated girl in Britain." She owned up to her allegations being "massively wrong" and withdrew from social media following a significant backlash, with Ofcom receiving 25,327 complaints over her alarming accusations. In the wake of the controversy, Roxanne revealed her intense struggles with mental health, even contemplating suicide. A year on, appearing on The Jeremy Vine Show, when asked if she considered taking her life, Roxanne simply replied: "Yes." Reflecting sorrowfully on past events, she said: "Looking back at those clips, it's awful. It was a really awful time for a lot of people." Yet, she also recognised her development, noticing: "It's only now that I watch those back that I realise how far I've come and what a bad place I was in." Determined to reinvent herself, she affirmed: "I never want to be that person again. I never want to react like that to a situation." In the discussion, Roxanne also mentioned her career difficulties post-scandal, feeling "blacklisted" due to the incident. Seeking a new chapter, Roxanne decided to make the big move to New York where she crossed paths with none other than firefighter Jason Carrion, famed for his stint on 'Married at First Sight. ' Fortuitously for Roxanne, Jason's quest for love on the reality show hadn't panned out, and the couple sealed their love in January 2020 with an intimate wedding ceremony, not long after their engagement in November. Following the nuptials, Roxanne shared a touching message, possibly nodding to her previous trials, saying: "There's an old saying that difficult roads lead to beautiful destinations. Well, it was worth every broken step that got me here, and I thank God every moment that out of everyone in the whole world, I was led to you. You are my safest place and my greatest adventure. Thank you for choosing me. On our wedding day, we celebrated our commitment to one another. A day I'll truly remember as perfect in every way." The joy didn't stop there for Roxanne; in 2021, she and Jason welcomed their son Maverick into the world. Bursting with pride over her husband and newfound parenthood, Roxanne once even launched an Instagram handle devoted to their shared life but soon ceased posting, choosing the path of privacy again. She reflected in 2021, stating: "I've learned the importance of privacy and have focused on becoming a better person, not just for myself but for my family." Most recently, Roxanne has hinted at the possibility of making a comeback to acting but remained ambiguous about any solid intentions to return to television. In a mystifying conversation with The Sun, she disclosed: "I don't want to rush back into anything that isn't right for me. I've learned so much about myself and what I truly want in life, and I want to make sure whatever I do next aligns with that." (Image: REX/Shutterstock)
