Ladbaby Roxanne Hoyle's rag to riches story - '£20 a week' to tea with Elton
Roxanne Hoyle, one half of internet sensation LadBaby, talks about her marriage to Mark, parenting, the dark side of fame - and a surreal celebrity moment involving Elton John
She's the matriarch of Britain's most famous online family, amassing over a million followers, and a whopping five Christmas number ones. She's a comedy duo with her husband Mark, but Roxanne Hoyle – better known as LadBaby Mum – has faced her fair share of public scrutiny, from trolling to recent headlines about Mark's alleged fidelity (Roxanne insists that a man in a viral TikTok clip who seems to grope a woman on a night out was not her husband).
Here, Roxanne opens up exclusively to OK! about parenting sons Phoenix, nine, and Kobe, seven, and her relationship with Mark – from those early days when they survived on '£20 a week' to being some of the most successful social media stars in history.
Roxanne, you just celebrated your 10-year wedding anniversary – congrats!
Thank you! We've been together longer than that, but yeah – 10 years married! For us, we're all about divide and conquer. We support each other, we have date nights, we're with the kids all the time and we work together – people always ask how we manage it! But, honestly, we're best mates. We've been through so much and come out stronger. I never thought I'd get married, let alone to someone I love so much and with two lovely boys. I'm really grateful.
What was life for you two like before all this success?
Well, we met over cocktails in London and fell in love – cheesy, but true. When we got pregnant with our first, Mark worked a couple of jobs and I stayed home. We had literally £20 a week to live on – it was joyful, but it was so hard. That's why we'll never forget where we came from. That's why we give back, support food banks and do what we do now.
What is it about you and Mark that just works?
We're like two big kids together. We never want to grow up and not have fun. After what we've been through, we just say, 'Why not?' If you get the chance, grab it.
How do you protect your relationship, behind closed doors?
We always talk, every day. We're close with our boys, too, they can come to us with anything. I think we've stayed the same people we were when we met 15 years ago. The world 's changed around us, but we haven't.
You're very open about parenting – what's the hardest part?
The fatigue – that phase when the boys were teething or not sleeping – I'd just be so tired. You can feel like you're losing yourself. But I'd always remind myself: it's a bad day, that's all.
Would you have more kids?
I'm really blessed with my two. People always say, 'Have a girl!' but I've got sisters and I'm happy. I feel lucky.
You've said your story's one of 'never giving up'. Was writing your book, Our LadBaby Journey, emotional?
Oh, yes. Mark and I are both dyslexic, so we talked it through together to write it. It was like reliving everything – the deepest, darkest moments, remembering that time, living in one room with a kettle and a bed, and then the joy of eloping for our wedding, having the kids, the Christmas songs, helping the food banks. On reflection, it was great, because we lived through that. Wow. All that before 40! It's absolutely insane.
What were those dark moments you relived?
Being trolled online – even when we were doing something nice, like a charity song with Ed Sheeran and Elton John. There was no reason for it, but people can be cruel. Then just the exhaustion of parenting, those early days. There were times I felt like, 'I can't do this'. But then you meet a nurse or someone who says, 'Thank you, your videos helped', and that just lifts you.
You've faced harsh some comments online about your relationship, your looks – how do you deal with those?
I ignore them. If anything, they light a fire in me to do more. I don't have time to waste on negativity. I can't listen. I'm just focused on the children and positivity and creating greatness that can go on to do even better things. That's what I do, that's who I am.
You're looking amazing right now – has anything changed?
I turned 40 last year – then everything changes! The kids are in school now, so I've got more time for me. I wanted to feel stronger, have more energy. I've changed a bit, but I'm still me. I'm embracing the age, but I also wanted more energy to keep up with my boys. I want to see them grow older, and be there for them – and able to outrun them!
What's something people get wrong about you?
That I've changed. But I'm still the same person. Just because I look different doesn't mean I've changed inside. I'm still just Rox.
You've had five Christmas number ones – more than The Beatles! What's been a surreal celeb moment?
Elton John singing back the lyrics I wrote on my sofa while drinking tea – that was cool! I even bought him silly Christmas glasses from Poundland for the video, and he wore them!
Any music legends you'd love to collaborate with next?
Mariah Carey would be hilarious. And Adele, singing about sausage rolls! Can you imagine?
Would you do a reality show?
I love a challenge. People are always asking when I'll go on Strictly because I'm always dancing – I'd love to beat Mark at dancing. I'd give it a go, as long as it's something where I could come out with a new skill.
You recently visited Downing Street for the Formula for Change campaign, to make sure families have access to affordable baby formula. Why was that important to you?
People should be able to afford to feed a baby – motherhood's hard enough as it is. We've always tried to use our platform for good, and to see over 100,000 people sign that petition blew us away. Our followers made a huge difference. I just pray it goes on to change the world.

Love Island needs to stop casting influencers and 20-year-olds – we know why they're on there and it undermines the show
Here's why I am falling out of love with Love Island... FAME GAME Love Island needs to stop casting influencers and 20-year-olds – we know why they're on there and it undermines the show WE'RE about to jump head first into another long hot summer, brimming with bikinis, fire pit chats and cringe new slogans, with the sultry tones of Iain Stirling's 'tonight… on Love Island' wafting through our living rooms. And while that might spark excitement for diehard fans like me, there's also a creeping sense of deja vu - because once again, despite vocal feedback from viewers, we're getting the same recycled formula: a villa full of 20-somethings and influencers. 7 We're about to jump head first into another long hot summer, brimming with bikinis, fire pit chats and cringe new slogans Credit: Instagram 7 Many of this year's Islanders have sizeable social followings Credit: instagram/sophirelee 7 Olivia and Alex were a success story - but an Insta following wasn't a guarantee on their series Credit: Rex This year's summer Love Island cast is a who's who of social media stars. There's from Sophie Lee's popular Instagram account, Helena Ford's travel diaries, and TikTok personalities Megan Forte Clarke and Aaron Buckett. Megan Moore and Rose Selway also boast impressive followings - the latter rubbing shoulders with Love Island alum, thanks to her celeb-favourite tweakment clinic. And then there are the 20-year-old's among the cast, who are apparently 'looking for love,' on the show. Now I'm not saying you can't fall in love and meet 'the one' at 20 - Olivia Bowen was just 22 when she met her now-husband Alex Bowen, and Love Island superstars Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury were only 21 when their jacuzzi date turned into one of the show's most iconic love stories. But things were different then. Love Island wasn't a guaranteed career launchpad. A deal with PLT was a bonus, not a certainty. Now, those going on the show have seen the roadmap to fame paved before them, and enter the villa with eyes on the prize - and the prize is not love. Frankly, there really aren't enough success stories to say that casting 20-year-olds on the show is a winning formula. In fact, Love Island is more likely to move to Canvey Island at this rate, than it is to find a couple of 20-year-olds who put all their eggs in each other's baskets. So doesn't it feel a bit odd that we're all sat, every night from 9-10pm, investing all our time into people who, let's face it, are on the show to further their followings, and not to recreate a storyline out of a Nicholas Sparks novel? Would it not be more rewarding to watch people in their 30s, - those who may be genuinely starting to question if love is still out there- given a real shot at finding their someone? It would surely make the show a lot more relatable for a lot of people, instead of seeing influencers sling one-liners at each other on a Balinese bed, before heading into the outside world to land a situationship and a podcast deal. And nostalgia for the old Love Island is running high on social media. Viewers seem keen to bring it back to the days of construction workers and fishmongers walking onto our screens, not people who are friends of a friend with an Islander, or have famous football star dads and brand deals lined up. Love Island 2025 cast revealed as footballer, actress and beauty influencer who cheated death sign up But let's be honest, you can hardly blame the 20-year-olds and influencers for going on to the show. Of course, given half the chance, they're going to want to further their careers on the UK's biggest dating output. You'd take one look at Molly-Mae's business empire and flashy mansion, Olivia Attwood fronting huge TV shows, and Tasha Ghouri strutting her stuff on Strictly and think, I want a slice of that. And if you're presented with a stepping stone to pop you closer to fortune and fame, wouldn't you jump onto it? Still, it's starting to undermine what Love Island was originally about. It's less of a search for soulmates, and more a talent pipeline for the next PrettyLittleThing ambassador or social media star, as opposed to sourcing the UK's most enviable romance story. But then you could also argue, if it's not broken don't fix it? I just worry that it will become broken, that people are starting to fall out of love with the island of love. As a huge fan of the show, I'm not ready to switch off just yet. But I no longer watch with rose tinted glasses, I watch with a lot more scepticism than I once did, which is a shame. I find myself trying to decipher between showmance and serious, instead of sitting back and enjoying the chaos of it all. And I guess the big question is, can Love Island ever get back to how it once was? Can people still find true love over fame? Well we could at least give it the best chance to prevail by choosing age and career wisely when casting. Maybe then we could rekindle that magic of the earlier seasons, you know, the ones that made Love Island iconic in the first place. 7 Are people starting to fall out of love with the show? 7 Contestants aren't wrong for wanting to find success on the show Credit: Instagram 7 Can people still find true love over fame? Kylie Jenner reveals plastic surgery secrets including doctor details and breast implant size in buried TikTok comment
KYLIE Jenner has finally revealed her plastic surgery secrets - including doctor details and breast implant size - in a buried TikTok comment. She captioned it: 'Help a girl out @Kylie Jenner, I just want to know how to get them to sit like that, respectfully.' To the surprise of many, the beauty mogul replied directly to the clip, writing: '445 cc, moderate profile, half under the muscle!!!!! silicone!!! garth fisher!!! hope this helps lol.' The TikTok exchange comes two years after Kylie first confirmed she had undergone a secret breast augmentation at 19 - something she denied for years. read more on Kylie Jenner HOT MAMA Kylie Jenner strips off to lingerie for sizzling new magazine shoot Rachel was stunned by the response, replying: 'KYLIEEEEE!!! you are the best THANK YOU!!!!' Fans quickly flooded the comments with praise for the star. Jenner's surgeon, Dr. Garth Fisher, is a well-known celebrity doctor and is a longtime favourite of the Kardashian-Jenner clan. He performed Kris Jenner's facelift on an episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, gave Kourtney Kardashian her boob job, and even carried out a revision facelift for Caitlyn Jenner pre-transition. He also removed a tumour from Khloe Kardashian's face and helped Real Housewives star Lisa Rinna revise her silicone lip fillers. Earlier in his career, he was Playboy founder Hugh Hefner's go-to surgeon. Kylie Jenner snubbed on New York Knicks jumbotron who refuse to show her on celebrity row alongside Timothee Chalamet Kylie first confirmed her surgery in a 2023 episode of The Kardashians, revealing she had the procedure done before giving birth to daughter Stormi, now seven. She told Stassie Karanikolaou: "I got my breasts done before Stormi. Within six months of having Stormi – not thinking I would have a child when I was 20 – they were still healing.' She admitted she regretted the decision, adding: 'I had beautiful breasts, like natural t*ts, just gorgeous… and I just wished, obviously, I never got them done to begin with.' 'I would recommend anyone who was thinking about it to wait until after you have children. I have a daughter too. I would be heartbroken if she wanted to get her body done at 19.' Kylie's latest comments marked a major shift from years of denying surgery rumours. In 2015, the influencer denied breast enhancement on her app, attributing her changing shape to weight gain and ageing. She wrote at the time: 'My boobs are definitely three times the size, which bothers me,' she admitted in 2018, post-pregnancy - but stopped short of confirming implants at the time." 6 Kylie's latest comments marked a major shift from years of denying surgery rumours Credit: Instagram 6 Dr. Garth Fisher, is a longtime favourite of the Kardashian-Jenner clan Credit: Getty 6 Kylie made the admission in response to influencer Rachel Leary Credit: TikTok/rachleary

Aryna Sabalenka: TikTok dance was key to thawing relationship with Iga Swiatek
World number one Sabalenka and four-time champion Iga Swiatek will meet in a blockbuster French Open semi-final on Thursday. It will be the first time the duo, who have been jousting at the top of the rankings for the past three years, have played each other at a grand slam since the 2022 US Open. They barely used to speak until an impromptu bonding session at last year's WTA Finals in Riyadh. Iga Swiatek eased into the semi-finals (Jon Buckle/PA) 'Before it wasn't any communication, any practices with her, but now we are getting better,' said 27-year-old Sabalenka. 'We get along better and we practice more often and we know each other quite well. 'I think everything started when I just came to her and asked to do a TikTok in Riyadh. We just did, like, a little dance together. 'Since that, we were like 'OK, maybe we can communicate, we can be good to each other, we can practice sometimes'. Aryna Sabalenka is bidding for her first French Open title (Jon Buckle/PA) 'So I think that was the first step to a better relationship.' The blossoming friendship will be put on hold when Belarusian Sabalenka continues her bid for a first Roland Garros title against the player who has won her last 26 matches at the French Open. Sabalenka has reached the semi-finals in nine of the last 10 grand slams she has competed at after battling past Olympic champion Qinwen Zheng 7-6 (3) 6-3. It was a shame that the match between two top WTA stars began at 11am, meaning there were hundreds of empty seats around the vast Court Philippe-Chatrier. The scheduling of women's matches has been a hot topic again this fortnight, and Sabalenka said: 'I agree it was a big match and probably would make more sense to put us a little bit later just so more people could watch it.' Swiatek's patchy form since winning the title last year has seen her slip to number five in the rankings, but the 24-year-old from Poland remains the player to beat in Paris after a 6-1 7-5 quarter-final victory over Ukrainian 13th seed Elina Svitolina. The second semi-final will be decided on Wednesday with Coco Gauff taking on fellow American Madison Keys and Russian sixth seed Mirra Andreeva facing the French Open surprise package, world number 361 Lois Boisson.
