'Makhayil' of Royal Camel Corps wins HM's Cup for second consecutive year
Muscat: HH Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs, presided over the closing ceremony of His Majesty the Sultan's Camel Racing Cup Festival 2025 on Thursday. The event, organised by the Diwan of Royal Court, took place at the al Fuleij racetrack of the Royal Camel Corps in the Wilayat of Barka. The concluding day featured six competitive rounds, drawing enthusiastic participation and showcasing the heritage sport's enduring appeal. The Royal Camel Corps' camel Makhayil secured first place, claiming His Majesty the Sultan's Cup for the second year in a row.

Sayyid Shihab to preside over closing ceremony of camel fest
Barka – On behalf of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, H H Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs, will preside over the closing ceremony of the 2025 His Majesty the Sultan's Camel Cup Festival on Thursday. The event will take place at the Royal Camel Corps' race track in Al Fulaij, wilayat of Barka. The festival is organised by the Royal Court Affairs, represented by the Royal Camel Corps. The final day of the festival will feature six rounds of races, including a special fifth round for yearlings. The winner of this round will be awarded the coveted His Majesty the Sultan's Cup. In addition to the races, the closing ceremony will showcase a rich display of Omani heritage, including traditional songs and camel performances by the Royal Camel Corps. The festival reflects the Royal patronage and continuous support for the camel sector, an integral part of Oman's cultural identity. The event plays a key role in preserving the heritage and promotes the breeding and safeguarding of pure Omani camel strains for future generations.
