'David and Victoria Beckham's spooky similarities to royals before new titles'

Arise Sir David Beckham! At last a knighthood for Golden Balls and the nation's golden boy. Our favourite footballer is looking more regal by the day. Snapped a couple of weeks ago alongside the King and legendary gardener Alan Titchmarsh at the Royal Chelsea Flower show, Becks has been putting in hard graft as an ambassador for the King's Foundation. Already an OBE, in February he even enjoyed a private dinner at Highgrove, the King's Gloucestershire pad. Becks learnt long ago that all good things require time and effort. (Lest we forget, unlike some, he queued over night to pay his respects to the late Queen.) But David's devotion to monarchy goes further that glad-handing and good photo-ops. Long dubbed celebrity royalty, the Beckhams have recently acquired an uncanny resemblance to the King and Queen. A bit like the House of Windsor, once upon a time the Beckham's large brood was function personified. Not many more. Like the King himself, David discovered that when his darling boy Brooklyn married an American actress (use the term loosely) things would never be the same again! Apparently Posh and Becks don't like Nicola Peltz. And she doesn't have much time for them. Brooklyn didn't make any of his father's 50 birthday events. (At least Harry rocked up for the coronation). Then Romeo waded in – two brothers feuding! Where have we heard that before? Cue lots of sexist muttering about a dim son being controlled by an ambitious American woman. Echoes of the past. No wonder Harry and Meghan have taken the young pair under their wing in Montecito. They are so well suited. One couple owns a hot sauce company, the other peddles jams and you can read ALL about it on Instagram. The Californian friendship was only a matter of time, after all the Sussexes' spat with David and Victoria (over leaks to the press apparently) left space for new friends. Meanwhile back in Britain, the King's heart must have sung when he saw Beloved Becks on his Birthday Honours List. First mooted for a knighthood in 2011 (blocked after implications in a tax avoidance scheme for which he has now been cleared) David is a national hero, a big royal fan, and, like the king, a beleaguered father. Poor David, his family woes are proof (if any were needed) that money does not always buy happiness, but surely the titles will help restore order. From today Victoria and David aren't any old Beckhams, they are Sir and Lady Beckham. Brooklyn and Nicola now have their work cut out. Last time I checked, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are not at liberty to bestow titles.
