Prince William and Princess Sophie wow crowds as they team up for rare Royal double act

PRINCE William and his aunt Sophie teamed up yesterday in a rare royal double act. They toasted each other with gin during a joint engagement at the Royal Cornwall Show — and she proved to be a tonic by helping out with the heir to the throne's duties. 4 4 4 The Duke of Cornwall and Duchess of Edinburgh were met with cheering crowds yesterday. When he was offered a Rattler cider, Wills, 42, quipped: 'Everyone remembers their first Rattler. You don't remember your last.' He pretended to turn his nose up at the zero per cent alcohol option he was initially offered and asked for the proper stuff. At a gin stand, Wills joked he could 'see what today's going to be like' and also teased Sophie. They had been taken into a food and drinks tent, where Sophie was also seen happily chatting to a mother and baby about local produce. They went first to a chutney stand and then to the gin stall as William said: 'We've come from the chutneys straight into booze.' They were shown several gins before each were given one to try. He caught the Duchess going for another sip and joked to her: 'She said, 'You're not allowed to finish it'. You've got to watch her.' Sophie, 60, responded: 'He's learnt from the best.' Wills joked back: 'I've been caught out with whisky a few too many times. "I think I can do that and then, 'Oh no I couldn't'.' The pair were also given a traditional Cornish pasty by Ann's Pasties. They then moved to the Healeys Cyder Farm stand, where William said: 'Look at the Rattler selection. Ah, definitely I'm happy about that.' Head of hospitality Laura Clerehugh, 36, said: 'I was going to say, you've had a Rattler.' William responded: 'Everyone remembers where they were when they had their first Rattler, I can tell you that.' He then laughingly agreed that you don't remember your last. Wills then asked about the 'zero' on the bottle, and when told that it meant zero alcohol he put the cup down and said: 'Oh no, no, no. I need original. Someone bring out the big guns.' Sources said the day was a huge success. Sophie has been touted as the Royal Family's 'secret weapon' thanks to her unwavering support for the monarchy and dedication to charities. She was ranked the fourth hardest working royal of last year, having carried out 257 engagements. Her welcome contribution comes at a difficult time for the Royal Family. They were rocked last year when the King and the Princess of Wales were diagnosed with cancer. Charles continues to receive treatment, while Kate announced earlier this year that she was in remission. The King had a blast yesterday as he fired an artillery piece on a visit to the Royal Regiment of Artillery at Larkhill, Wiltshire. 4

Prince William Cracks a Joke About Families Not Always Wanting to See Each Other

While on a June 4 royal engagement, Prince William made a quip about families not always wanting to see each other. This comes as increased attention is on his ongoing rift with younger brother Prince Harry, who he apparently hasn't spoken to in two years. New reports say that the only time William and Harry will likely see each other is at the funeral of their father, King Charles, and even then might have no chance at a full on a royal engagement yesterday, Prince William made a joke about families not always wanting to see each other amid his ongoing rift with younger brother Prince Harry. Per The Telegraph, on June 4 the Prince of Wales—decked out in camouflage—served troops breakfast in his first visit to the Army Air Corps in his new role as Colonel-in-Chief. According to the outlet, the future king—who has been feuding with Harry for the better part of seven years—added that families could be 'a mixed bag' after asking soldiers how often they saw loved ones. 'Some of them might not want to see you that much,' William quipped on Wednesday. William and Harry are not thought to have spoken in two years and have no relationship at the moment. Sources say that for William, his relationship with Harry has reached the point of 'no turning back,' and in undertaking his new role as Colonel-in-Chief, he is stepping in for a role Harry himself would have likely filled had he not stepped back as a working member of the royal family in 2020, over five years ago. (Harry was an Apache helicopter commander and co-pilot gunner with the Army Air Corps during his second tour of Afghanistan from 2012 to 2014.) According to a source speaking to Us Weekly, 'The funeral of [King] Charles would be the first time that courtiers would imagine' William and Harry reuniting, with the insider adding, 'I can't imagine William would invite Harry to his coronation.' 'Any reconciliation between the brothers would require so much more than just a single conversation,' royal commentator Amanda Matta told the outlet. 'It would demand a real reckoning with the emotional damage on both sides.' 'This isn't just about two brothers falling out like you and I would understand it,' she added. 'This complex and widening rift is about two very different worldviews—one is rooted in preserving tradition, the other in breaking from them when they start to cause harm.' A 'basic working relationship' between the brothers would be 'hard to rebuild,' Matta continued, adding that 'Right now, it feels like they're speaking entirely different languages.' Getty Images Plans for the sequel to 2004's 'The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement' were first revealed by The Hollywood Reporter in 2022. Her grandmother, the elegant queen dowager, was played by Julie Andrews. In the second film, Mia went on the hunt for a husband. Hathaway, 42, announced on Instagram last year that she'd return for the third entry in the franchise, which will be directed by Adele Lim, the co-writer of 'Crazy Rich Asians.' Back in 2023, she told Forbes she's 'pretty much retired' from acting. Chris Pine, who played Mia's love interest Nicholas in the second flick, has said he has no clue if he'll be involved or not. 'The first time I heard about it was on the internet when someone sent me a screenshot,' he admitted last year on 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.' 4 The palace used in 'Royal Engagement' was Longford Castle in England. Getty Images Shooting on '3' in the Czech Republic would kick Genovia about 900 miles west. The stand-in palace used for 'Royal Engagement' was Longford Castle in Wiltshire, England. The family movie's release date is still unknown, but miracles will happen again soon.
