Robbers break into Guelph jewelry store with sledgehammer
Guelph Police are looking for multiple suspects who robbed a jewelry store on Wednesday.
Police were called to the Stevenson Street and Speedvale Avenue area around 1:39 a.m. for a break-and-enter. When officers arrived, they found the back door smashed.
Security video showed two men getting out of a Black Range Rover SUV before using a sledgehammer to break into the store. The men then made two trips, each time grabbing 'armfuls' of merchandise and placing them in the SUV.
Staff at Royal Gold Jewellery & Precious Metals at 328 Speedvale Ave East confirmed to CTV News they were the ones who were robbed.
They told officers jewelry fittings, hardware, a box of samples and gold solder, used to join pieces of metal together, were taken.
The first suspect was described as a white man, wearing all black with white accents, gloves and a balaclava.
The second man was also white and wore an orange and yellow construction vest, a white T-shirt and carried the sledgehammer.
A third man, who was driving the SUV, was wearing a blue shirt, jeans, a black, red and white hat and a red bandana.
Police asked anyone with information to call Const. Daniel Urbshas at 519-824-1212, ext. 7240, or email durbshas@
