Woman killed and man airlifted to hospital after motorbike collided with tractor
A woman has died and a man has been airlifted to a major trauma centre after the motorcycle they were riding collided with a tractor in rural Shropshire last night. West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to reports of a serious collision involving a motorcycle and tractor on the A458 in Rowton, Shrewsbury at 6.27pm, yesterday, Sunday, July 27. Two ambulances, two paramedic officers, the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford and the Welsh Air Ambulance responded to the scene. Despite the best efforts of everyone at the scene, the 56-year-old woman died. While the man, aged 59, was airlifted to Royal Stoke University Hospital for further emergency care. A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: 'When ambulance crews arrived, they found an off-duty nurse performing CPR on a woman motorcyclist. "The team of ambulance staff quickly took over resuscitation efforts and commenced advanced life support. 'A man, also from the motorbike, was assessed by ambulance medics and was given trauma care for serious injuries before being airlifted to Royal Stoke University Hospital for further emergency care.' West Mercia Police said: "Officers are appealing for information following a fatal collision on the A458 near Shrewsbury. "Around 6.30pm yesterday (Sunday 27 July), a tractor and a motorbike collided on the A458 in Rowton. "Sadly, the passenger on the motorbike, a 56-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. "The motorbike rider, a 59-year-old man, is in hospital with serious injuries which are not deemed to be life-threatening or life changing. Staffordshire consultant admits to raft of sexual child offences
A former hospital consultant has pleaded guilty to multiple sex offences, including attempting to incite a girl to engage in sexual activity and possessing extreme pornographic Matthew Isles, from Whiston near Cheadle, worked at the Royal Stoke University Hospital and County Hospital in Stafford as an ear, nose and throat 53-year-old was arrested in February and subsequently charged with a number of offences. Former Stoke consultant in court over multiple child sex offences

He is further charged with attempting to incite a 15-year-old girl to engage in sexual activity, possessing extreme pornographic images portraying sex acts involving a person and live animals, three counts of distributing indecent images of children via messaging apps, and one of attempting to engage in sexual communication with a were told on Wednesday that the former medic was also charged with observing a person doing a private act in 2023 for sexual gratification by recording them without consent, three counts of making indecent images of a child, one of possessing prohibited images of a child, and one of possessing extreme pornographic images "portraying an act likely to result in serious injury to person's private parts".The remaining new charge alleges that he was in possession of a "paedophile manual movie" in February this year at Whiston "which contained advice or guidance" about sexual Isles was granted conditional bail to appear at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court next hospital trust has said it was fully cooperating with police in the investigation. Four raced to hospital after car crashed outside Alton Towers with air ambulance scrambled to scene
FOUR people have been rushed to hospital after a car was involved in a crash at Alton Towers. Emergency crews including an air ambulance were scrambled to the scene of the one-vehicle smash on the entryway to the major theme park this morning. 2 One man was quickly flown to Royal Stoke University Hospital suffering from "potentially serious injuries", while three other men, who sustained minor injuries, were taken to the same hospital by ambulance. The first call came in shortly before 11am today, West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed. It then deployed an ambulance and paramedic officer, alongside a helicopter from the Midlands Air Ambulance at Cosford. A spokesperson for the trust said: "We were called to reports of a one car RTC at a location off Farley Lane in Alton at 10.55am. "We sent an ambulance, a paramedic officer, the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford and two Community First Responders to the scene. "On arrival, crews found four men. The first of whom, a passenger, was treated for potentially serious injuries and conveyed by air ambulance to Royal Stoke University Hospital. "The three other patients were treated for minor injuries and conveyed by land ambulance to Royal Stoke University Hospital for further treatment.' More to follow... Woman dies in crash involving car and fire engine
A woman died after she was involved in a crash between a car and a fire engine in Cheshire, police have said. The collision happened shortly before 07:30 GMT, at the junction of Crewe Road and Close Lane in Alsager. Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said the fire engine was responding to an emergency at the time. The 59-year-old driver of the car, a Lexus NX, received casualty care from firefighters until paramedics arrived and was later taken to Royal Stoke Hospital, where she died. No firefighters were seriously hurt, and an investigation into the crash is under way. Anybody with information which may help has been urged to contact Cheshire Police.
