As supervisor, MBA graduate carried out thefts in colony: Cops
Bhopal: Awadhpuri police on Thursday claimed to have solved four consecutive theft cases by arresting the accused—a colony supervisor who reportedly used his knowledge of the area and residents' movements to carry out the crimes. The accused was caught while trying to verify if the gold he stole was genuine. Awadhpuri police recovered 160 grams of gold jewellery worth Rs16 lakh and Rs 58,000 in cash from his possession. Awadhpuri SHO Ratan Singh Parihar said that the accused, Rohit Pal, 27, a resident of Bangrasia, was working as a supervisor in the same colony where the thefts occurred. He holds an MBA degree and previously worked for the builder during the colony's development. This gave him an insider's understanding of house layouts and how doors could be accessed—particularly by reaching through windows from the terrace. One of the theft victims, Ankur Babeley, a resident of Soumya Green Valley Colony on BDA Road, reported that he went to Chhatarpur with his family on May 22 and returned on May 28 to find his house ransacked. The main gate's lock was intact, but the first-floor door handle was broken. Jewellery and cash amounting to Rs75,000 were stolen. Similar thefts occurred at three other homes in the area. During the investigation, police noticed similarities in all the cases, indicating they were carried out by the same person—someone familiar with the colony and residents' travel schedules. CCTV footage from the area was reviewed, and informants were activated. The breakthrough came when an informant tipped off police that a man visited a local jeweller to check the authenticity of gold ornaments. Based on suspicion, police detained colony supervisor Rohit Pal. Upon questioning, he confessed to all the thefts. He confessed that he committed the thefts to arrange money for his drug habits and luxurious demands.

Buoyed projections?
Listen to article The government's projection of an exalted growth rate of 4.2% for the next fiscal year has made jaws drop. On what premise it is so confident is hard to guess, but the ground realities suggest a dismal picture. The beleaguered dispensation is pinning its hopes on tight monetary control and effective management of the economy – but that is no small task. All the projected targets for the ongoing fiscal year were missed as the economy achieved 2.68% growth as against the projected 3.6%. The agrarian sector merely posted 0.56% growth and the country is now on the verge of importing grains. So are the pathetic statistics with industry and other plum portfolios. The euphoria seems based on the sole achievement that the economy has swelled to $411 billion with a per capita income rise to $1,824. Likewise, the services, transport, storage, construction, information and communication sectors have managed moderate upward trends. All this seems to have encouraged the government to propose new growth targets of 4.4% in commodity-producing sectors; 4.5% in agriculture sector, 3.5% in LSM and 3% in mining. Inflation is being seen at 7.5%. But there is a surprising squeeze too that the government is eyeing: the construction sector which grew by 6.6% this year is targeted at only 3.8%. So is the case with electricity, gas and water supply sectors that are nourished by 29% this year, but are projected to grow by only 3.5% next year. This is untenable and what crosscurrents they will leave behind is another enigma of sorts. On the international front, there is a tight-walking for the government as the IMF is too inquisitive, having almost torpedoed the plans on crypto, and insisting on tax collection to be raised to Rs16 trillion. On the other hand, the Planning Commission says it has only left with Rs880 billion and only high-priority developmental projects will see the light of the day. The rare hope-line is the largesse of the ABD which has doled out $800 million to strengthen fiscal sustainability and improve public financial management programmes.

Two officers, 3 constables suspended for negligence in duties leading to murders, other crimes
Nagpur: Two officers and a constable from Yashodhara Nagar police station, and two head constable from New Kamptee have been suspended for negligence in their duties, which led to heinous crimes like murders. The action was taken on the orders of deputy commissioner of police Niketan Kadam following a probe into their conduct. The suspended officers are assistant police inspector Tulsiram Dhakulkar, sub-inspector Raosaheb Khairnar, and constable Pritam Thakur of Yashodhara Nagar, and head constables Pravin Manapure and Luvkush Bhanose of New Kamptee. Police sources said the suspensions are linked to lapses in handling two separate murder cases reported in Yashodhara Nagar recently. Senior officials said Khairnar and Thakur were suspended for their negligence in dealing with the complaints related to goon Sohail Chand, who was ultimately murdered at Van Devi Nagar Chowk in broad daylight on Friday. The assailants, who had first sought police help, had gone ahead and taken the law in their own hands. Dhakulkar had been held responsible for dereliction in duty and failing to stop another murder in the past by not taking concrete action in a matter. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Shubh Aarambh with Honda Shine 100! Dhakulkar and his investigation team were behind a probe that falsely implicated 43-year-old cloth seller Murtuza Ansari in a narcotics case involving MD drugs. An offence was registered against Ansari at Yashodhara Nagar police station, but he was discharged after CCTV footage showed how the drugs were placed in his vehicle to implicate him in a fake case. Also, Rs16,000 seized from Ansari during the action have not been returned to him to date. This is not the first time Dhakulkar's actions came under scrutiny. A few years ago, while posted at Pachpaoli police station, he was involved in a similar MD drugs case. The high court took serious note of the irregularities, leading to the transfer of five cops to headquarters. Dhakulkar's repeated involvement in such cases has raised serious questions about his conduct. In a related development, head constables Pravin Manapure and Luvkush Bhanose of New Kamptee police station were also suspended for malpractices. The suspensions reflect the police department's efforts to address negligence and misconduct, ensuring accountability among its personnel. The incidents have sparked discussions about the need for stricter oversight and training within the police force to prevent such lapses in the future.
