Rubina Dilaik Pledged To Have A Size-Zero Figure After Being Body Shamed At Age 19: "Wish Somebody Told Me..."
Rubina Dilaik, freshly off the sets of Laughter Chefs 2, opened up about being body shamed on her YouTube podcast Kisine Bataya Nahi. She shared that she was criticised for the way she looked on the sets of her first show in 2008 while talking to Ankita Lokhande on the podcast, She recalled that she went on a strict soup-only diet to lose weight. She said that while she was able to shed the extra kilos, the "glow" was gone when Rubina started her second show. "I was called chubby. I used to wonder... I have baby fat here and there. Ek director ne camera ke peeche se chillakar bola that, 'waapis bhejo Himachal mein... isko na chalna aata hai aur dikhti bhi golmatol hai '."(Once a director told me that they should send me back to Himachal... She doesn't know how to walk and is fat.) "You are literally mistreated. It stains your memory to an extent that I went on boiled spinach soup and nutri (diet) for one complete year, and I pledged to myself that I am going to get to size zero, and I achieved that," said the actor on her podcast. Speaking about looking pale and sick in the show, Rubina Dilaik highlighted, "My energies were so down. That phase... when I look back... I am like, what was I thinking... I wish somebody had taught me how to embrace myself. Kisine nahi bataya, aap apne me khoobsurat hai. (No one told us that you are beautiful in the way you are.) "I was 19-20 when I came, and I had come from the mountains... having grown up on ghee, milk, curd... golmatol bachcha hai... woh freshness thi... in my second show, my cheekbones used to be visible... my waist was snatched... but the glow was missing.. It took me a long time to get out of this cycle. I don't want that for my children now." Body shaming is believed to leave a drastic impact on a person's life. In fact, several studies, including the one published in the South African Journal of Psychiatry, found that body shaming can affect a person mentally and socially.

‘I'm going to get to size zero': Rubina Dilaik opens up about a year of extreme dieting
Actress Rubina Dilaik recently opened up on her podcast about a challenging period early in her career, where the intense pressure to meet certain beauty standards deeply affected her. Recalling the emotional toll, Rubina described how harsh comments about her appearance on set pushed her into drastic decisions. 'Toh yeh set par aapka pehla show hai aur chilla kar aapko, aapke look ke liye literally pratadat kiya jaata hai. It stains your memory,' she shared. Determined to meet the industry's expectations, she resorted to an extreme diet: 'To an extent that I went on boiled spinach soup and Nutris for one complete year. And I pledged to myself—I'm going to get to size zero.' 'But I looked so sick and pale. My energies were so down. That phase, when I look back, I think—what was I even thinking?' she reflected, adding that she wished someone had guided her to accept herself as she was. She recalled how her entry into the industry was marked by innocence and health. 'I was 19 or 20 when I entered the industry. I came from the mountains—ghee, doodh, dahi kha kar. I was a fresh-faced, round-cheeked kid. And when I see my first show now, I see that natural glow.' However, the physical transformation she undertook for her second show left her feeling empty despite the external changes. 'Those cheekbones, that snatched waist… it didn't have the glow. And slowly, I started believing that maybe this is beauty,' she admitted. Live Events Rubina also revealed how this distorted perception of beauty began to shape her self-image. 'That psychology started attracting people and situations that validated my inner fears. I allowed that mindset to shape how I saw myself.' Her honest account stands as a poignant reminder of the quiet harm that the pursuit of perfection can inflict—and how embracing one's true self is the real path to healing. [With TOI inputs]

Rubina Dilaik Reveals Abhinav Shukla Said THIS And Made Her Wait For 9 Months After Proposing
Rubina Dilaik shared that when she proposed, Abhinav Shukla answered 'okay,' keeping her in suspense for nine months before saying yes. Just when you think you've seen every shade of couple drama under reality TV's spotlight, COLORS is ready to stir the pot with a fresh twist. The channel's much-awaited reality show Pati Patni Aur Panga – Jodiyon Ka Reality Check is all set to hit television screens, and it's already creating a buzz ahead of its launch. At the centre of the excitement are Bigg Boss favourites Rubina Dilaik and Abhinav Shukla, who will be seen baring their hearts and quirks in the premiere episode. In the very first episode, Rubina will be seen sharing a hilarious yet endearing story about how her proposal to Abhinav broke every textbook rule of romance. On the morning of January 1st, as she rang in the new year, Rubina decided to take a leap of faith and tell Abhinav that she wanted to grow old with him. However, what followed was far from the dramatic, sweeping response one might expect. Recounting their proposal moment, Rubina says, 'On the first day of the new year, fresh out of the shower, I looked at Abhinav and said, 'I want to grow old with you.' He paused… and just said, 'Thank you.' Bas, that was it. For months, I kept wondering if that was a no or a maybe. And then one fine day, out of nowhere, after almost nine months, he says, 'Me too.' That was his answer to my proposal, nine months later. That's just how we are — thoda hatke, thoda unpredictable, but very real. Our biggest panga is our difference of opinion. He's all logic and science, I'm full emotion and creativity. But maybe that's what makes us click." Pati Patni Aur Panga, hosted by Sonali Bendre and co-hosted by Munawar Faruqui, will offer an unfiltered look at what makes relationships work — from small everyday victories to disagreements and dilemmas. Rubina Dilaik and Abhinav Shukla tied the knot on June 21, 2018, and embraced parenthood last year after the arrival of their twin daughters, Jeevda and Edhaa. The duo often shares adorable photos of their daughters on social media, allowing fans a peek into their life off-camera. Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
