Emmerdale in another schedule shake-up as soap to air an earlier extended episode TONIGHT

EMMERDALE is set to air an earlier extended episode TONIGHT in a schedule shake-up. Last night's instalment was pushed back due to ITV's coverage of the UEFA Women's Nations League. 4 4 4 Fans will be treated with an hour long instalment tonight to make up for the lost episode. It will be airing on screens from 7pm until concluding at 8pm. Viewers had been left desperate for answers as Monday's episode ended on a tense cliffhanger. Ruby Fox-Miligan confessed to the police that she killed her abusive father, Anthony Fox. Upon hearing a body had been recovered from the dredged village lake, Ruby and her family were left panicked. Believing her days were numbered, she snuck away from home to give herself up. Ruby killed Anthony – who had molested her as a child and even fathered her daughter, Steph – in January, although initially Aaron Dingle was believed to have done it. Although Aaron did brutally batter him, – leaving Aaron to recruit John Sugden to help him dispose of the body. Viewers are aware the body in the lake is actually Nate Robinson, who hasn't been seen in the Dales since September last year. In February, the soap revealed Nate's true fate after seemingly departing for Shetland. A hen party crashed into the icy lake, which is when fans spotted the body for the first time. It was only a bracelet from Nate's daughter Frankie that revealed his identity. John Sugden was later revealed to have killed Nate accidentally - before disposing of his body in the lake. The army medic has since become one of the show's most acctive killers – also offing his ex-boyfriend on his wedding day to Aaron. Darkest soap storylines Over the years the likes of EastEnders, Emmerdale and Coronation Street have all tried to try outdo each other with their outlandish plots in a bid to keep us tuning in each week. But here are some of the darkest that had fans in shock... EastEnders: Tony grooming Whitney (2008-2009) - Tony King first appeared in Albert Square in 2008 as the boyfriend of Bianca, played by Patsy Palmer. But it was quickly revealed he was a paedophile who had been grooming vulnerable Whitney, Bianca's adopted stepdaughter from a previous relationship, since she was 12. The shocking storyline attracted more than 200 complaints within a week of it beginning. Whitney waited until her 16th birthday to reveal the truth to a horrified Bianca, who called the police. Emmerdale: Holly's drug addiction and shock death (2010-2016) - In 2010, Holly Barton (played by Sophie Powles) became Emmerdale's first teenage drug addict. The shocking storyline saw her taking cocaine on a night out before developing a deadly heroin habit. Parents John and Moira desperately tried to help get their daughter clean but when Holly returned in 2016, following a four-year absence, she quickly relapsed. Fans were left stunned and heartbroken when distraught Moira found Holly dead in her bed from a heroin overdose. Hollyoaks: Luke's rape (2000) - Actor Gary Lucy was just 17 when he took on this groundbreaking storyline, which saw his character Luke Morgan become soap's first male rape victim. Luke had endured a long-running bullying campaign by football rival Mark Gibbs - who raped him after Luke stood up to him. Luke was left suicidal following the brutal attack, before opening up to his brother Adam. Gibbs was sentenced to eight years in prison. Gary won the Best Actor gong at the British Soap Awards in 2000 for his performance. Coronation Street: Evil Richard Hillman (2001-2003) - Just a mere mention of 'Richard Hillman' is enough to send a shiver down the spines of soap fans. He is often ranked one of the most evil soap villains and it's not hard to see why. The smooth-talking financial adviser bashed his ex-wife Patricia over the head with a shovel. In a bid to keep his mother-in-law Audrey quiet, he set fire to her house. And when Maxine caught him trying to murder Emily Bishop, he took a crowbar to her head. He made his exit from the cobbles in 2003 when he drove Gail Platt, played by Helen Worth, and her family into the canal. They survived, but he didn't. Ruby, Aaron and John had been keeping quiet about the cover-up. However, Ruby's husband Caleb and his half-siblings Cain and Chas Dingle were later brought into the fold. Will Ruby's confession inadvertently bring down her co-conspirators? Emmerdale airs on ITV1 and ITVX.

Emmerdale star Beth Cordingly faces agonising decision over her future on the soap amid British Soap Awards nomination

She's up for two gongs at this year's British Soap Awards. But Emmerdale star Beth Cordingly, 48, is facing a major dilemma that could shape her future on the show. Although she's only been on the ITV soap for 18 months, Beth has already made a lasting impression as fiery Ruby Fox-Miligan. Her powerful performances have earned her nominations for Best Leading Performer and Best On-Screen Partnership with William Ash, who plays her on-screen husband, Caleb Miligan. Beth's turn as the bold and unpredictable Ruby has clearly resonated with audiences and critics alike. But despite her success, she admitted she's torn about staying on. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to Daily Mail's showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. In a recent interview with The Mirror, she said: 'The problem is, I never intended to do more than a year. She added: 'I took the job for lots of reasons. When my daughter and I decided I would take the job, I didn't know I would fall in love with it the way I have. 'I don't know if Emmerdale Village is built on a ley line or something but there is something really magical about that place.' When she was first offered the role, Beth hesitated, concerned about the commute from her home in Brighton to the set in Leeds. She turned to her daughter for advice, and together they agreed she'd take the role for just 12 months. However, that deadline has now come and gone. Elsewhere in the interview, Beth revealed she was 'blown away' by her Best Leading Performer nomination and said she was 'really chuffed' to be one of four women nominated - alongside Emmerdale co-star Eden Taylor-Draper and favourites Kellie Bright and Lacey Turner. As for working with Will, she couldn't wish for a better on-screen husband as she praised him highly and said she feels 'incredibly lucky' to work alongside him. When she first auditioned, Beth knew Ruby was going to be a troublemaker, but she had no idea about her trauma or the repercussions the storyline would unleash. Her powerful performances have earned her nominations for Best Leading Performer and Best On-Screen Partnership with William Ash, who plays her on-screen husband, Caleb Miligan (both pictured on the show) But the promise of tension and drama was what made her pitch hard for the role in the Yorkshire-based soap, despite living in Brighton with her 11-year-old daughter. Her reasons for doing so were mainly because she wanted to be a character who 'drives the drama' rather than a 'reactive' one. Off-screen, Beth is in a happy relationship with actor Ian Kelsey, 58, a familiar face to Emmerdale fans as Dave Glover, who was killed off in 1996. The couple have been together for four years, and Beth often credits Ian with giving her the confidence to take bold steps in her career. She claimed it's 'no coincidence' that her career has gone on a new trajectory since she got together with Ian four years ago. But she revealed she's often warned against dating a fellow actor. She revealed some people would say "Oh God, I'd never go out with an actor" and said there's a running joke among actors where they will often say, "Is your partner an actor or a normal person?" However, she feels 'lucky' to be with someone where there is 'zero jealousy' and only support. Beth is no stranger to soaps, she broke through in Family Affairs and then became a regular on The Bill. She even had a brief stint on EastEnders as Shirley Carter's cellmate. But for Beth, Emmerdale is in a league of its own. She praised the show's tight-knit culture, saying there's no divide between cast and crew, something she hasn't always experienced elsewhere. Still, despite her love for the show, Beth has no plans to relocate permanently to Yorkshire as Brighton, where she grew up and now raises her daughter, as it still feels like home. And although she spends a lot of time thinking about moving up to Leeds, she loves the fact her daughter is growing up where she did, by the sea and beach.
