Kota Kinabalu: The Malaysian Armed Forces Veterans Association (PVATM) Sabah Branch continues to strengthen its development and welfare agenda for its members through several key initiatives currently underway. PVATM Sabah President Ruhimin Jaafar said one of the most important focuses at present is securing land for the construction of the PVATM Sabah Welfare Centre, which he described as an urgent necessity for the organisation's future. 'Initial efforts have already been initiated and received positive feedback from the Sabah Lands and Surveys Department. However, these efforts need to be intensified to expedite the process. 'The search for a site for the development of the welfare centre is among the main agendas being pursued and requires full support from all parties. 'We ask everyone to pray that this matter proceeds smoothly and is facilitated,' he said during the 43rd PVATM Sabah State Annual Delegates Conference 2025 here Sunday. Ruhimin also announced that a total of 10 members had been selected as recipients of the Pingat Setia Sentiasa Berjuang (PSSB) for this year, compared to only five recipients in the previous year.

'All plans are subject to the organisation's strength and financial capacity, as each award involves expenditure that must be managed carefully and prudently. 'However, I am confident that the PVATM President will consider this matter, as there are still many deserving veterans who have yet to receive recognition,' he said. Also present were PVATM Malaysia President Datuk Shahrudin Omar and the Malaysian Armed Forces Veteran Affairs Department Director Major Ismail Mera. * Follow us on our official WhatsApp channel and Telegram for breaking news alerts and key updates! * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news?
