Creative Approaches Like Poetry Recitals Can Boost ASEAN Unity - Ministry Sec-Gen
KUALA LUMPUR, May 30 (Bernama) -- Creative approaches such as poetry recital programmes should be strengthened as part of efforts to further foster regional unity and cooperation, particularly among ASEAN countries, says Ministry of National Unity secretary-general Datuk Ruji Ubi. He said that besides political and economic diplomacy, cultural and literary activities should also be emphasised to bring regional communities closer together. 'Creative approaches like tonight's poetry recitals should be further developed to attract greater participation from ASEAN countries, especially those who can recite poems and verses in the Malay language,' he told Bernama here tonight, after attending the poetry recital programme organised by the National Writers Association of Malaysia (PENA) in conjunction with Malaysia's ASEAN Chairmanship at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL).

MADANI Adopted Village: KPN Implements 11 Projects In Kuala Tembeling
Kredit : Kementerian Perpaduan Negara KUANTAN, May 23 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of National Unity (KPN) has allocated RM1 million for the implementation of 11 repair, upgrading and renovation projects in Kampung Kuala Tembeling, Jerantut, that will benefit 796 residents. KPN said the 11 projects under the MADANI Adopted Village programme involved the installation of solar lights, repairs to halls and schools, repairs to recreational and sports spaces and upgrading recreational and social infrastructure. "This project is a mark of the government's commitment to developing the infrastructure and improving the standard of living and well-being of the people,' it said in a statement today. Ministry of National Unity secretary-general Datuk Ruji Ubi officiated the launch of the MADANI Adopted Village Programme in Kampung Kuala Tembeling today. The ministry also expressed appreciation to all its strategic partners who helped make the programme successful, including the Ministry of Finance, the Implementation Coordination Unit (ICU) Prime Minister's Department, the Jerantut District Office and Kawasan Rukun Tetangga (KRT). The KPN said the government has allocated RM200 million this year to continue implementing the MADANI Adopted Village Programme, which aims to benefit rural communities. More Rukun Tetangga areas for Sabah soon

Kota Kinabalu: The Ministry of National Unity (KPN) will increase the number of Rukun Tetangga Areas (KRT) and open up opportunities for economic project implementation through the RT Progressive initiative in Sabah. KPN Secretary-General, Datuk Ruji Ubi , said the Ministry is working to expand the establishment of active KRTs so that they can enjoy various benefits, including an annual grant of RM6,000 and special allocations of up to RM100,000 under the RT Progressive. Advertisement 'As of now, Sabah has 1,121 KRTs, and within the past month or two, five more new KRTs have been established. 'Active KRTs not only play a role as drivers of unity but also have the potential to generate community income through RT Progressive,' he told the media after paying a courtesy call on the Sabah Head of State Tun Musa Aman, recently. The visit aimed at informing about the increase in the number of KRTs and unity kindergartens in Sabah, as well as the preparations for Unity Week celebrations. Commenting further on the RT Progressive programme, he said KRTs with Voluntary Patrol Schemes (SRS) may propose economic projects such as agriculture, food processing, and small enterprises. This open up opportunities for KRTs to play a more comprehensive role, not only in fostering unity but also in promoting local economic development,' he said. According to him, the government has allocated RM20 million to implement the RT Progressive programme nationwide, including support for two to three KRTs in Sabah that are actively running agriculture-based projects. Meanwhile, Ruji also announced that the Unity Week celebration will take place on June 28 and 29, this year. 'One of the key highlights is the Jejak Harmoni programme, aimed at strengthening ties between followers of different religions through joint visits to houses of worship such as mosques, temples, churches, and shrines,' he added. Over 180,000 Sabah Communities Benefit From University Student Volunteer Programmes
KOTA KINABALU, April 28 (Bernama) -- A total of 189,064 communities in Sabah have benefitted from 1,577 volunteer projects by university students selected from public and private universities, teacher training institutes, polytechnics and community colleges. National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang said this year was the ninth year Yayasan Sukarelawan Siswa ran the projects, with 28 missions since 2015 involving 793 students at 50 locations in Sabah. 'All the volunteers today will be appointed as unity agents to strengthen the spirit of togetherness and to instil the value of tolerance and encourage active community participation to build a united and harmonious country,' he said at the close of MADANI in Service: Uni Students Volunteer Mission to Sabah at the Sabah Youth and Sports Complex (Federal) here today, in the presence of National Unity Ministry secretary-general cum Yayasan Sukarelawan Siswa deputy chairman 1, Datuk Ruji Ubi.

JPNIN to focus on community safety at border areas in four states
TUMPAT: The Department of National Unity and Integration (JPNIN) is to focus on enhancing community safety in border towns in four states, namely Kelantan, Kedah, Perlis and Perak to combat the drug menace. JPNIN director-general Datuk Che Roslan Che Daud said earlier Ministry of National Unity secretary-general , Datuk Ruji Ubi, had attended the Cabinet Committee on Combating Drug Abuse (MPJKMD) Coordinating Council Meeting. 'In the meeting, he recommended that the Rukun Tetangga Area (KRT) and Voluntary Patrol Scheme (SRS) be activated at the community level, especially those near the national border to combat drug abuse. 'This is because the existence of active KRTs and SRSs has proven to be able to play an effective role in maintaining community safety and security,' he told Bernama today. Che Roslan said there were two KRTs, namely Sungai Kantan Kajang KRT, Selangor and Chenulang KRT, Kuala Krai, Kelantan, which have been conducting patrols and controls every day to ensure neighbourhood safety in residential areas. 'The effectiveness of SRS will be further enhanced through the MySRS application which allows the department to monitor the implementation of SRS in real time. 'In addition, the role of SRS in the community and further intensifying the implementation of the '1 Family 1 SRS Member' Campaign at all levels, especially at the KRT level, to assist the government in addressing social ills and security issues in neighbourhoods, thus increasing the level of security among the community,' he said.
