Dr Annuar assures RTP projects involving Nangka longhouses will be completed by Gawai

SIBU (April 21): A total of 16 projects under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) 2024 worth RM2.85 million in longhouses across the constituency of Nangka are expected to be completed by this year's Gawai celebrations.
These projects include various infrastructure repair and improvement works involving ruai (communal hall), tanju (veranda), roads, ceilings, parking lots, drainage, and public toilets in the longhouses.
Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation, and Talent Development, who is also Nangka assemblyman Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee, assured that despite initial delays, all projects will be completed before Gawai.
'Today, I came to the ground to observe the progress of the RTP 2024 projects. Although they were supposed to be completed last year, we ensure everything will be ready before Gawai,' he told reporters after visiting Rumah Justin today.
Dr Annuar further explained that Rumah Justin has received a total allocation of RM600,000 since 2018, covering repairs for the upper and lower communal hall, veranda, and other basic amenities.
'Recently, 12 residential units on the ground floor of the longhouse will be improved to enhance residents' comfort,' he said.

Other longhouses that were visited include Rumah Dick, Rumah Bungan, Rumah Marai, Rumah Miskin, Rumah Jok, Rumah Kawau, and Rumah Bongkong.
Additionally, Dr Annuar was asked about project implementation based on the Bill of Quantities (BQ) to avoid the need for Change Notices (NOC), which often delay processes.
'Previously, we provided ceilings, but sometimes they were insufficient. So, we had to issue an NOC, which delayed implementation. Now, when implementing agencies propose projects, they prepare estimates, and we approve them immediately. There are no funding shortages, and execution is expedited. I consider this the best approach,' he explained.
Meanwhile, Rumah Bongkong, the oldest longhouse in Nangka, is currently undergoing comprehensive renovations involving walls, windows, doors, ceilings, and electrical rewiring.
The restoration, costing RM500,000, aims to maintain the traditional identity of the longhouse.
'This longhouse has 19 doors and is the oldest in DUN Nangka. That is why I want to preserve it, ensuring its original identity and structure remains intact,' Dr Annuar said. dr annuar rapaee longhouses Nangka Rural Transformation Programme
