RMC ‘Swachh Path Abhiyan' to fix roads, curb mosquito menace

Ranchi: In a bid to make roads safer, cleaner, and free from mosquito breeding, the Ranchi Municipal Corporation rolled out 'Swachh Path Abhiyan' to repair potholes and tackle post-monsoon public health hazards. Weeks of heavy rainfall have left many key roads in Ranchi scarred with craters, slowing traffic and increasing accident risks. Stagnant water in low-lying areas has also fuelled mosquito breeding, prompting a surge in complaints about dengue and malaria risk. "In the last two days alone, we have filled nearly 50 large craters. This drive will continue until all critical stretches are repaired," said city manager Rupesh Ranjan. The initiative combines road maintenance with targeted anti-mosquito measures. Teams are using stone dust to level small potholes, while larger stretches are undergoing patchwork repairs. In parallel, special fogging and chemical spraying are being carried out in waterlogged areas. Ranjan emphasised the campaign's long-term approach. "This is RMC's first dedicated road-and-hygiene drive after the rainfall. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Could This NEW Collagen Blend Finally Reduce Your Cellulite? Sandeep Kumar, a florist who runs a stall at Kutchery Chowk, said that the repairs were overdue. "Kutchery is one of the busiest intersections in Ranchi, with buses, two-wheelers, and pedestrians crowding it all day. Broken patches here not only slows down traffic but also splashes dirty water on people during the rain. Fixing them makes it safer for everyone," he added.
