Ludh teachers join protest over transfer & pay
Ludhiana: Teachers from across Punjab, including Ludhiana, marched to the residence of
education minister Harjot Singh Bains
in Gambhirpur village Sunday, accusing his department of injustice, bias and failure to resolve long-standing issues.
The protest was organised by the Democratic Teachers' Front (DTF) Punjab, 6635 ETT Teachers' Union, and 4161
Master Cadre Teachers
' Union, among other such groups.
Calling the AAP govt's 'Punjab Sikhya Kranti' a hollow slogan, the protesting teachers accused the education department of ignoring legitimate demands such as issuing regularisation orders, ensuring fair transfer policies, especially for teachers serving far from their home districts, and others.
They were demanding redressal of grievances related to recruitment, transfer issues, delays in promotions and pending salaries.

They demanded that all names removed from appointment lists, including those of 3,704 master cadre teachers, 6,635 ETT and 899 English teachers be reinstated and they be given job security.
They also sought the implementation of the 6th Pay Commission benefits and DA for computer teachers, reinstatement of traditional pay scales for teachers recruited after July 17, 2020, disbursal of rural, border area wages, reversal of pay cuts for art and craft teachers.
Rupinder Singh Gill, representing DTF, said, "If the May 20 meeting with the education minister in Chandigarh fails to yield concrete resolutions, a state-level rally will be held in Ludhiana."
