Cityflo implements full-stack driver safety intelligence systems across metro fleets
Cityflo, an urban mobility firm, said it has rolled out a comprehensive AI-powered driver safety stack across its fleet, as part of its broader push to create enterprise-grade operating standards in a space that has long lacked formalisation. The move marks a significant leap in how road safety and fleet discipline are enforced within the country's mobility sector, it said. 'As the industry grows, while we add more buses—we need stronger systems to run them better,' said Rushabh Shah, CBO, Cityflo. 'Our belief is that operational excellence begins with full transparency on what is happening inside and outside the cabin. This rollout is about institutionalising safety and performance—not just reacting to lapses, but preventing them altogether.' At a time when the conversation around mobility is largely dominated by electrification and app interfaces, Cityflo said it is placing focus on what happens behind the wheel. Its new system blends two key technologies: an advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) that supports the driver with on-road alerts, and a driver monitoring system (DMS) that supervises driving behaviour within the cabin. Together, they form a dual-safety net designed to reduce risk, improve accountability, and deliver consistency in driver performance at scale. Deployed in partnership with safety intelligence startup Cautio, the system has already been integrated across most Cityflo buses and Luxe cabs operating in Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Delhi. Full fleet integration is expected in the next month. This upgrade comes at a critical time—India accounts for 11% of global road fatalities with just 1% of the world's vehicles, as per the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. Over 90% of crashes linked to human error, often related to driver fatigue, distraction, or poor judgement under pressure. Cityflo's dual-system approach aims to directly tackle this root cause. With over 600 trained drivers on payroll and a fleet of 400+ buses, Cityflo operates across Mumbai, Delhi, and Hyderabad—covering more than 10 million kilometres and serving over 6.6 million rides annually. Cityflo is among the few mobility operators in India building systemic capabilities that goes beyond software layers and bus supply.

Cityflo enters four-wheeler rental vehicle market, to compete with Uber and Ola
Cityflo , a premium daily commute firm said it is launching Luxe, marking its first entry into the four-wheeler space, expanding its service footprint beyond buses into private rentals. The move comes amid growing dissatisfaction with the reliability and quality of on-demand cab rentals in urban India. Most cab operators have struggled to scale while maintaining consistent service quality. Poorly maintained vehicles, erratic cancellations, untrained drivers, and fluctuating fares have left a visible gap in the market for a more premium, dependable offering. 'There have been legacy players who have delivered exceptional service in this space—but largely within specific niches,' said Jerin Venad , CEO, Cityflo. 'With Luxe, we are extending that standard of excellence to a wider, underserved market—guided by the same operational discipline that underscores our daily commute services. Today, we have over half a million customers who use Cityflo primarily for their office travel. Luxe is a natural extension—built for the same customer when they need a more personalized, flexible option, whether for business meetings, weekend trips, or special occasions.' India's urban rental mobility market is evolving rapidly. According to a report by IMARC, the Indian car rental market was valued at $2.74 billion in 2024 and is expected to grow at a CAGR of 14.5% through 2033, reaching nearly $9.3 billion. Despite this, in metro cities—where demand for high-quality rentals is rising – few brands are equipped to meet this need with consistent quality. The space remains fragmented, dominated by individual operators or unorganised fleets on larger platforms. The company plans to expand its fleet by 1,600 buses over the next two years and grow revenues four-fold to Rs300 crore by 2027. Founded in 2015 by IIT Bombay alumni Jerin Venad, Rushabh Shah, Ankit Agrawal, and Sankalp Kelshikar, Cityflo provides an alternative commuting solution and serves corporate professionals in Mumbai and Hyderabad, and more recently Delhi. 'We believe the future of mobility and mass adoption in cities like Mumbai and Delhi lies in vertically integrated, professionally operated fleets. Luxe is our first step in that direction for four-wheelers, thereby allowing us to extend the Cityflo standard of service to new audiences and cater to new use cases,' added Venad. The service is now live across Mumbai, with plans to scale across metros in the coming months. Cityflo is backed by several marquee investors including Lightbox Ventures, Anupam Mittal, Alteria Capital, India Quotient and others.
