Backed by Banijay's global expertise, we're now set to scale the IP across multiple languages and markets, with the ambition of building an international format. At the heart of our approach is our philosophy of 'timeshare of mindshare'. We're not just creating content, we're creating cultural moments. The Rusk creative team will stay actively involved as we expand the universe of Playground, aiming to grow from one show to between five and ten each year. This is just the beginning of a bold new chapter in gaming and youth content."

Rusk Chamber provides surprise retirement party for longtime businesswoman

The Rusk Chamber of Commerce organized a surprise retirement party for Joann Jackson. After more than 70 years operating J&J Jewelry, a jewelry and gifts store, Jackson has decided to close the business and retire. The final day of store operation will be Saturday, May 31. Chamber Chair Kelli Dover organized the party. Chamber members, friends and family members attended the event which was a pleasant moment for Jackson. 'This is too much of a surprise,' she said. 'I appreciate everybody.' After refreshments were brought in and set up, Dover presented a proclamation on behalf of the chamber. It recounted the 1954 opening of Henry's Jewelers with Jackson's first husband Earl Henry and her commitment to continue the business after his passing in 1970. The document noted her second marriage to Joe Jackson, the change in the store name to J&J Jewelry and the many attributes that made her business such a lasting success. 'Her unwavering faith, tireless work ethic and enduring lover for her family, customers and community have been an inspiration to all who know her,' stated the proclamation. A proclamation by Rusk Mayor Ben Middlebrooks named May 31, 2025 as Joann Jackson Day. It, too, mentioned Jackson's history regarding the store and her contributions to the community. 'Joann became known far and wide for her exceptional customer service, offering free engraving and gift wrapping, ordering special items for her customers and treating each person with dignity and kindness, regardless of the size of their purchase,' stated Middlebrook's proclamation. Carlton Cruthers read a poem he wrote for the occasion and Michele Slaton presented a certificate from Senator Robert Nichols recognizing Jackson's 70 years of business. She said her family had been asking her to retire for the past 15 years. She said she will miss the people most. Her plans for retirement include volunteering at the Heritage Center of Cherokee County, starting a once a month Bible study at her church and visiting relatives. 'I have relatives I've not been able to visit, being in business, so I'll have time to visit my family – grandkids and great grandkids,' Jackson said. Although it doesn't officially begin until June 1, Jackson said she is already enjoying the idea of retirement.

Everton 2-0 Southampton: the fans' verdict

We asked for your views on Southampton's performance against Everton. Here are some of your comments:Russell: Until the subs came on that performance was shameful. I feel as bad as you could possibly feel about my football club at the moment. The whole club is so broken. No desire to get forward, no effort, no passion, just backwards and sideways passes - mostly all in our own half. The whole performance and this team is totally gutless. I'm ashamed of what my football club has become this Saints away at Goodison Park was going to be a foregone conclusion. As a Saint, I'm happy that Everton left on a high. As a Saint, we go on next year in the Championship. Redefining "pathetic", week by Go 1-0 down with no goalscorer in the XI. Takes Rusk nearly 60 minutes to react/change. The only positive to take is that like with the previous four incompetent managers, he will soon be gone!Charles: I was very, very disappointed with Saints. No shape, no guts and did I notice for sale signs on the backs of Saints' players shirts? I doubt if they will get any offers. No get up and go, no interest. For the last game of the season, they should play the under-21 team and the directors should declare that the last game of the season be free of charge to all season ticket-holders.

Pep Guardiola gets brutal Man City reminder during Southampton stalemate

Two years ago, when Manchester City were on their way to winning the Treble, Pep Guardiola had a meltdown for the ages at St Mary's when his team were knocked out of the Carabao Cup. The paint on the away dressing room walls might be starting to blister again. Guardiola will be furious that his team failed to leave the south coast with a victory that would have lifted them level on points with second-placed Arsenal just a day before the Gunners go to Anfield. The bald Catalan doesn't have much use for a hairdryer - but you can be sure that his players would have been feeling plenty of heat. Whether the two points dropped will cost City a place in the top five and qualification for the Champions League remains to be seen. But if any more proof was needed that the deposed champions are a million miles away from the team they used to be, this was it. The visitors had Erling Haaland back. Phil Foden started his first game for a month alongside Kevin De Bruyne. But they didn't lay a glove on a team that had already been relegated and who were in danger of sharing Derby County's tag of being the worst side in Premier League history until chalking up their 12th point of the season. City have got games against Bournemouth and Fulham to get the points they need - and next week they face Crystal Palace in the FA Cup Final. How Southampton would love to have similar worries. City fans of a certain age will be familiar with the story of the Saints' season: wwo wins in 36 games, relegation confirmed in the first week of April - and just the three managers. Owner Dragan Solak is a Serbian tycoon who owns telecoms conglomerates and media companies. His wealth is estimated at close to £1.5billion. But he's no Sheikh Mansour. And even if he was, PSR puts paid to any delusions of grandeur these days. Southampton were promoted through the play-offs last year with Leicester and Ipswich. The fact that the Europa League final next month will be contested by one team that started the weekend in 15th and another who are one point and one place worse off illustrates the magnitude of the task facing every new arrival. Leeds, Burnley plus one other, you have been warned. Simon Rusk is the interim boss at St Mary's once more. Previous experience includes a spell in charge of Stockport in the National League, three months as an assistant at Dundee and a stint instructing the players at Nottingham Forest how to take free-kicks and corners. The fact that Rusk was put in charge of the Saints' highly-rated Under-21 team last summer suggests he knows his way around a training pitch - but he drew the short straw for two games when Russell Martin was sacked just before Christmas and again when Ivan Juric followed after the drop was confirmed. The manner in which his players gripped and grappled at every set-piece suggested they had spent plenty of time being drilled. Rusk had also worked on a six-man defence that even had Tyler Dibling doubling up as a right-back - and the visitors just couldn't find an answer. City keeper Ederson was given a touch of the ball when his team kicked off - and that was literally it for the Brazilian. But at the other end, Aaron Ramsdale was barely troubled himself until the visitors launched a desperate late onslaught that saw substitute Omar Marmoush shudder the crossbar. Southampton threw bodies in the way. In the seven minutes of injury-time, many of Rusk's players were cramping up in agony - and most of the 30,000 loved every single show of sacrifice. At the final whistle, they had forgotten the reality of Championship football again next season and were singing loud and proud about the Saints going marching in.
