Russell Crowe's shock career move revealed as he appears in video alongside popular Italian singer
Russell Crowe has rebooted his music career after recording a cover of Pearl Jam's track 'Breathe' alongside veteran Italian singer-songwriter Zucchero 'Sugar' Fornaciari. The Gladiator star, 61, also appears in a music video for the tune, which was partly filmed in Queensland. Ditching his trademark casual look, Russell sported a suave dark suit in the clip while sitting on a bench under a tree next to a friendly cattle dog. The music video, which Russell co-directed, has already attracted 237,788 views on YouTube and also features Zucchero. The Oscar winner told that his collaboration with the 69-year-old Italian hitmaker, who has sold over 60 million albums, has already made a huge impact. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. 'When they dropped the video in Italy last week, it received huge coverage and ran as a news story, got 2.2million views just on my Instagram,' Russell said. The song was included on Zucchero's 2024 album Discover II, which topped the charts in Italy last November. Describing Zucchero as a 'legend', Russell said their new collaboration began after the pair met in Tuscany in 2024 at a Andrea Bocelli concert. After Zucchero caught Russell's band, Indoor Garden Party, while they were touring Italy, he met the Beautiful Mind actor after a show. 'Backstage over a Guinness, he asked if I'd have any interest in doing a duet with him. I was enthusiastic about the idea, he told me about his new album plans,' Russell explains. Russell's vocals for the tune were recorded at his sprawling property in NSW, while his scenes in the music video were shot at Guanaba on the Gold Coast. It comes after Russell ignited rumours he is set to tie the knot with his fiancée Britney Theriot in Rome. The pair sparked speculation of an engagement when Britney was seen sporting a diamond ring. Claims are circulating they are eyeing up an Italian wedding after reportedly visiting a church during their latest visit to the city. The couple, who started dating in 2020, visited Rome last year when Russell performed with his band The Gentlemen Barbers at the Forum Theatre. They were spotted sightseeing during their lavish getaway and reportedly visited a church in the city. 'Italy was always going to be their wedding destination. Every time they go there, they come back more in love,' an insider told Woman's Day. 'It's always been their dream to get married there.' Russell and Britney frequently visit Italy together and first sparked engagement rumours during a trip to the European country last year. In February last year, Britney was seen wearing a dazzling diamond band on her ring finger as they visited at the Ariston Theatre in Sanremo. They were visiting the Italian Riviera for Russell's gig at the Sanremo Music Festival with his band, who frequently perform at venues across Italy. Russell also often holidays in Italy with Britney and his sons Charles, 20, and Tennyson - both of whom who he shares with ex Danielle. The superstar Russell has long gushed over his love of Italy and Rome in particular, previously describing it as 'the city where my heart beats faster'. Russell is believed to have first met former actress Britney on the set of his 2013 film Broken City, but they did not start dating until many years later. The pair then confirmed their long-rumoured romance with a kiss on a tennis court in November 2020.

Movie star Crowe raking in new fans with an unlikely co-star
Russell Crowe is making headlines in Europe thanks to his latest collaboration with an unlikely co-star - and it's a long way from the big screen. The Hollywood megastar has been following his 'other' passion of late, teaming up with one of the most influential Italian artists of all time for a delicate, emotional take on Pearl Jam's Just Breathe. Crowe told the collaboration with Zucchero 'Sugar' Fornaciari happened over a backstage beer. 'Zucchero is a legend in Italy, Central Europe and South America, selling some 60 million albums,' Crowe said. 'He has worked with friends of mine like Sting and Tom Jones. Way back he had a huge global hit Sensa Una Donna with Paul Young.' The pair met at the 30th anniversary Andrew Bocelli concert in Tuscany last year when Crowe's Indoor Garden Party was touring Italy. 'As the summer went on, Zucchero then attended a couple of Indoor Garden Party concerts in La Spezia and Castiglioncello,' Crowe said. 'Backstage over a Guinness he asked if I'd have any interest in doing a duet with him. I was enthusiastic about the idea, he told me about his new album plans.' Crowe recorded his vocals on his farm in Nana Glen, and shot his part of the video in Guanaba in Queensland. Their version of the Eddie Vedder classic features on the deluxe edition of Zucchero's Discover II album which went straight to number one in Italy last November. 'When they dropped the video in Italy last week, it received huge coverage and ran as a news story, got 2.2million views just on my Instagram,' Crowe said. Over a 40-year career, Zucchero has sold more than 60 million records and earned a Grammy nomination, blending Italian soul with blues, gospel, and rock influences. He reportedly said of Crowe: 'I've always been a fan of his as an actor… now maybe a little bit as a singer too'. For Crowe, creating music is something he has always done. 'Music is like an adrenaline shot, rock and roll is my theatre, and instead of doing a season of Shakespeare in my time off like some actors do, I play music,' Crowe told this journalist in 2023. 'The reality is music has always been so important to me, and even though I don't talk about it all the time, it's simultaneous with everything I do creatively.' He was given his first guitar when he was just six years old. 'I was staying at my grandfather's house at Church Point. The next-door neighbour was the famous cabaret artist Reg Livermore. 'He used to have musicians and actors and artists over all the time, so one day I got my guitar and walked across the back garden. One of the musicians there taught me three guitar chords, and I went home and sat down and started to write a song. So I have always seen a guitar as a method to create.' Sting once wrote Crowe a letter describing a song he'd written about his mum and dad called 'Raewyn' as a 'royal gift' to his kids. 'That thing of another artist purely understanding that you have written something, not for mass consumption, not for radio, but you've just written it because it needed to be written. To get a note like that from an artist like Sting was amazing,' Crowe said. 'There are lots and lots of reasons to write a song, and the song going to number one isn't one of them for me. That's not a requirement. I'm not in the business of music as such. I do it for other reasons.' Russell Crowe's Indoor Garden Party has one concert in Australia this year - at the Enmore Theatre in Sydney on December 20. Tickets go on sale on August 2. And in his 'down time' he's been making movies, with several due out this year including Nuremberg with Rami Malek and Michael Shannon, Billion Dollar Spy with Harry Lawtey and Vera Farmiga and Bear Country with Teresa Palmer, Luke Evans and Danny Zovatto.

The facial feature that means you're more likely to have a son
You might think that having a boy or a girl is completely up to chance. But expectant parents might be able to hazard a good guess – depending on what the father's facial features are like. Researchers wanted to find out whether certain traits in parents were linked to the sex of their firstborn. The team, from the University of Michigan, recruited 104 pairs of parents with at least one child. Both were asked to submit facial photographs which were rated for attractiveness, dominance and masculinity or femininity by university students. The results show that one certain characteristic was linked to an 83 per cent higher chance of having a son. And it could explain why the likes of Tom Hardy, Russell Crowe and Jason Statham all had sons as their first child. So, can you work out what it might be? Their analysis, published in the journal Adaptive Human Behaviour and Physiology, revealed that fathers whose faces were rated as more dominant were more likely to have a firstborn son. This result held no matter their level of attractiveness, masculinity or age. They found that each increase in perceived dominance was linked to an 83 per cent greater chance of having a son. However, there was no similar effect seen for mothers' facial dominance. 'In our sample of romantic couples, we found that fathers with more dominant-looking faces were more likely to have sons for a first-born child,' study author Benjamin Zubaly told PsyPost. The team said one theory is that when women have higher testosterone levels around the time of conception – a factor linked to having male children – they may prefer dominant-looking males. This preference, in turn, could influence the likelihood of having a son. 'These results suggest that fathers' facial dominance might influence the likelihood of a couple producing male offspring,' the team wrote. As part of the study, university students were asked to rate how 'masculine' the faces of participants were (stock image) 'We propose a plausible mechanism through which maternal personality, hormones, and mate preferences influence the sex of offspring. 'Relationships between facial cues of dominance and offspring sex warrant further investigation.' The findings could go some way towards explaining why particular celebrities – who arguably have more 'dominant' faces – have sons as their firstborn child. Tom Hardy's eldest child is his son Louis, Russell Crowe's eldest is his son Charles, and Jason Statham's eldest is his son Jack. Meanwhile perhaps less 'dominant-faced' celebrities, including Zayn Malik and Keith Urban, have firstborn daughters. 1 - Popularity Men appear more attractive if they're popular with other women, according to scientists. The theory is that women are especially attracted to men with partners because they are more likely to be kind and faithful - which makes them 'good mates'. 2 - Money Women are more likely to find men attractive if they think they have a bulging wallet, a new study has found - but for men it's still all about the looks. A recent study suggests that women are four times as sensitive to salary when considering a male partner as men are when choosing a female partner. 3 - Muscles When it comes to what women want, muscular, tall men still win out, a recent Austrlian study suggests. Scientists showed a group of 160 women photographs of shirtless, faceless men and asked to give them an attractiveness rating. The results show men who looked strong, with muscular arms and toned torsos, did far better than those who had worked a little less hard at the gym. 4 - Intelligence It seems that, for some, looks and personality really don't matter. Nearly one in ten people find intelligence to be the most attractive feature in a partner - a trait known as sapiosexuality, according to researchers at the University of Western Australia.

My luxury camping holiday in the Hollywood of Africa – where Game Of Thrones, Bond and Gladiator were all filmed
I STEP out of my tent, surrounded by golden sand dunes. A campfire gently flickers while camels sleep in the distance and the Milky Way shines down on me from a sky so clear you can see every star. 6 Take a camel trip past in Sahara Credit: Photographers Choice - Getty 6 The bustling main square in Marrakech Credit: Alamy 6 The Hassan Tower in capital Rabat Credit: Alamy I'm spending the night at operator Xaluca's Auberge Bivouac La Belle Etoile, at the Western edge of the Sahara desert in Morocco. He posted a selfie to his Instagram wearing a black cowboy hat and gave fans an update. "Howdy Pilgrims ….. My Head and Neck muscles having a flare up since my fall. Been prescribed a day of watching Westerns to help recuperate," he began the post. "On my list Russel Crowe in The Yuma , John Wayne in Red River and Kevin Costner Dances with Wolves . It's medicine - honestly ! 😊 … feeling better already - Ouch !!!" Eamonn's fans rushed to send him well-wishes in the comments section of the post. "John Wayne films definitely the best to watch or Clint Eastwood 👏get well soon 😍," wrote one person. Another added: "Get well soon cowboy! 🤠" A source previously told The Sun about the fall, saying: "Eamonn slipped in the bathroom last week and took a bad tumble. "He was taken to hospital in a lot of pain and went through a series of tests. Why Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes REALLY split & her furious reaction when she caught him on phone call to his lover "Fortunately, he didn't suffer any broken bones and is now on the mend. "He was very lucky." The TV star - who is often seen out in a wheelchair or on crutches - has struggled with his mobility for the last few years as he battles intense back pain. His chronic condition began unexpectedly in 2021 and soon he was unable to walk without a stick to help him. Ruth and Eamonn's relationship timeline Before the shock split announcement, Ruth and Eamonn seemed like one of the strongest couples on UK TV – even with their signature bickering style. Here's how their romance played out... 1997 - The couple first meet after being introduced by mutual friends, two years after Eamonn splits from his first wife, Gabrielle, with whom he has three children. 1997-2002 - To be respectful to Gabrielle, the couple kept their relationship out of the limelight. Ruth told Daily Mail: "I thought it spoke volumes about the sort of man he was, the sort of father he was and the integrity he had. It made me love him more, not less." 2002 - Ruth and Eamonn welcome their son, Jack, to the family. 2005 - Eamonn finalises his divorce with Gabrielle. 2006 - The pair begin to host Friday episodes of This Morning together. 2010 - Eamonn proposes to Ruth while at the Cheltenham Races, after asking Ruth's mother for her hand. June 2010 - Eamonn and Ruth marry at Elvetham Hall, Hampshire. 2016 - Eamonn undergoes a double hip replacement in the first of many health battles. June 2019 - On This Morning, Ruth and Eamonn say the secret to their happy marriage. Eamonn credits "compromise, consideration and lots of conjugal," while Ruth said it was "laughter and an equal marriage". November 2020 - Ruth and Eamonn are replaced on their regular Friday slot by Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary in a 'show shake-up'. December 202 1 - After a year of being moved to the bank holiday presenting slot, both Eamonn and Ruth left This Morning. January 2022 - Eamonn debuted on GB News, while Ruth stayed with ITV in her long-standing role on Loose Women. September 2022 - Eamonn undergoes spinal surgery after years of back issues including a trapped sciatic nerve. November 2022 - Eamonn falls down the stairs of his Surrey home with Ruth and breaks his shoulder, requiring a new operation. September 2023 - Eamonn has a spine and neck stretching procedure as part of his year-long recovery. May 2024 - Ruth and Eamonn announce they have split after 14 years of marriage and a 27-year relationship. September 2024 - Eamonn was spotted on a luxury holiday in Barcelona with his new girlfriend Katie Alexander. Ruth calls in a 'fierce' divorce lawyer. The pain was caused by a dislocated pelvis, which later resulted in him sustaining three slipped disks. While recovering from surgery, he fell down the stairs at his home in Weybridge and broke his shoulder. A further spine and neck procedure in 2023 did little to alleviate Eamonn's pain. He has admitted the pain has led to him having countless "sleepless nights" and caused rows with his estranged wife Ruth Langsford over how much medication he relies on taking. Eamonn and Ruth announced their split in May last year having started dating in 1991. 3
