Police want to trace four people who were seen near the blaze at the time it broke out late on Saturday night. A police probe has begun after a bridge in a Scots park was torched by a firebug and destroyed. ‌ Officers want to trace four people who were seen near the blaze at the time. ‌ The incident took place at Popeyes Park in the Dumfries suburb of Lincluden, late on Saturday August 10. ‌ Officers raced to the park at 11.45pm after the bridge and a clothing bin had been set on fire. The force posted a picture of the damage on social media and appealed for help on the Police Scotland Dumfries & Galloway Facebook page. "Around 11.45pm, we were called to the fire within 'Popeyes Park', where a bridge structure and a clothing bin had been set alight. "The fire was extinguished by Scottish Fire and Rescue Service." ‌ Constable Ryan Cochrane added: "Thankfully there were no reports of any injures, however, the consequences could have been much more serious. "This fire has caused extensive damage. "Four people were seen near the fire. ‌ "We are appealing to anyone who may have information on their identity, or any details that may assist our investigation to contact us on 101 quoting incident number 3654 of 10 August.
