General Hospital is bringing back fan-favorite star seven years after he was killed
General Hospital is bringing back their beloved star, Ryan Paevey, seven years after his character was dramatically killed off. The actor, 40, first joined the the long-running ABC soap in 2013 as Detective Nathan West, quickly becoming a fan favorite. His character's tragic death in 2018 devastated viewers, making news of his return all the more shocking. Exactly how the Torrance native will fit back into Port Charles remains a mystery, at this time. The actor confirmed to Deadline that Executive Producer Frank Valentini reached out to him with an unexpected text, sparking conversations about a possible comeback. 'We talked a bit and he asked would I consider returning for awhile, talking story, floated different story ideas involving different time commitments of me, and I thought if we're going to do this we should really do it and surprise the fans with a meaty storyline,' Paevey said. He continued: 'I was surprised by my excitement for a homecoming and reuniting with familiar faces after seven years. I still have my last call sheet from my final taping day on January 18, 2018, tacked up in my home office.' Filming begins this week, and viewers can expect to see him back on screens in September. Speculation about Paevey's return had already been mounting, especially after Kelly Thiebaud, who played Nathan's sister Britt, reappeared on the soap in July. The timing of both comebacks has fueled theories about a potential family-centered storyline. While some fans are hopeful Nathan might be resurrected, others believe Paevey could take on an entirely new role in classic soap fashion. Since leaving General Hospital, Paevey has built a successful career in TV movies. After breaking out in Hallmark's Unleashing Mr. Darcy in 2016, he went on to star in more than a dozen romantic comedies for the network, including Two Tickets to Paradise in 2022. Most recently, he appeared in Fourth Down and Love. He has also notched credits outside of Hallmark, with appearances on Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Games People Play. The news comes just a week after the death of General Hospital star, Tristan Rogers, following a battle with lung cancer. Since 1980, Rogers had been portraying international spy-turned-Port Charles D.A. Robert Scorpio on General Hospital - a role Soodak said 'meant everything to him.' While he did not appear on every episode, he still was a long-standing presence on the series with 1461 episodes under his belt. 'He loved being Scorpio and he created that role from nothing. He was supposed to work a day and he ended up making it into something huge. He was just a genuinely loyal, kind human being and he loved his family,' his manager, Meryl Soodak told ABC 7 News.

Ryan Paevey is returning to 'General Hospital 'after 7 years
The actor explained that the idea of returning to the series was kickstarted by receiving a text from "General Hospital" executive producer Frank Valentini. More than seven years after his departure, Ryan Paevey is returning to General Hospital. The actor, who starred as Detective Nathan West from 2013 until 2018, is set to appear in new episodes of the hit ABC sudser starting this September, Entertainment Weekly has learned. Deadline was the first to report the news. EW has reached out to representatives for General Hospital and Paevey for comment. It is currently unclear what role Paevey will play in his grand return to the series, given that Nathan was killed at the end of his five-year run. (Not that death has ever stopped anyone from returning to General Hospital before.) Speaking to Deadline, Paevey explained that he began to explore the idea of potentially returning to the series after receiving an unexpected text from executive producer Frank Valentini. 'We talked a bit and he asked would I consider returning for awhile, talking story, floated different story ideas involving different time commitments of me, and I thought, 'if we're going to do this we should really do it and surprise the fans with a meaty storyline,'' Paevey told the outlet. 'I was surprised by my excitement for a homecoming and reuniting with familiar faces after seven years. I still have my last call sheet from my final taping day on January 18, 2018, tacked up in my home office.' The announcement comes just four days after Paevey teased on Instagram that he had 'some news to share' with fans after attending a fan event in Georgia. 'I've got some irons in the fire,' he said at the time. 'I've got all kinds of fun stuff coming up. So stick around and, yeah, I hope to see you guys at another. And I'll share some news with you as soon as I can.' Paevey previously announced that he would be taking a step back from acting in 2024 in order to protect his mental health and to be closer to his mother after she was diagnosed with breast cancer. 'The industry hasn't felt like the place for me in quite some time now, and my mental health has suffered from it,' he said in a statement to Heavy. 'It's taken me to a bit of a dark place, made me into a version of myself I don't like very much.' He added, 'I've had bank accounts hacked, money embezzled, investments stolen….things that, while difficult, can be recovered from. But after all that, my mother was diagnosed with lung cancer. I left Los Angeles to be closer to her, and feel the need to devote more of my time, energy, and resources closer to home.' Read the original article on Entertainment Weekly

Is Ryan Paevey Returning to 'General Hospital'?
Is Ryan Paevey Returning to 'General Hospital'? originally appeared on Parade. General Hospital alum Ryan Paevey has hearts fluttering after a recent social media share. Paevey took a step back from acting in 2024 but is now gearing up for a comeback. The Hallmark hunk took to Instagram the other day to tease that he's getting back into the entertainment business. 'Got some irons in the fire on the big screen and the small screen that I'm hoping will enable me to share more stuff like this with you guys….a lot more. Get busy living right?' he that wasn't enough, the soap star used social media again to keep fans guessing. This time, he shared a headshot with googly-eyed emojis as the caption. In the comments section, Paevey popped up to ask his followers, 'What do you guys think it will be?' The remark had fans sharing their thoughts, and many of them are hoping for a General Hospital return. Paevey played Nathan West on the ABC soap for nearly four years. Even though Nathan was killed off, soap fans know a character can always come back from the dead. 'thinking TV like maaaybe GH 🤷🏻♀️,' wrote one fan, while another expressed, 'I'm not sure back to general hospital lol.' Other comments related to the ABC soap included, 'General hospital would be great 😊,' and 'Really hoping it's GH since Britt's on her way back.' The latter refers toKelly Thiebaud returning to the ABC soap in July. If General Hospital can resurrect Britt, the show can certainly find a way to bring back Nathan. However, that doesn't mean Paevey is returning to Port Charles. It's more likely he will be back to filming TV movies for Hallmark or Great American Family. The actor added fuel to that fire with a throwback to a film he did with Jen Lilley on Hallmark. Here's hoping we find out soon what will bring actor Ryan Paevey back to our TV screens. General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC.
