Horror moment thugs open fire as gangland drive-by shooting caught on camera in Irish city on edge amid ‘revenge' fears

It comes as a feud in the area has spiked in recent months, with petrol bomb attacks and drive-by shootings — similar to a dispute that killed 20 people in the late Nineties and early 2000s, involving the Keane-Collopys, the Ryans and the McCarthy-Dundon gang. 'I just want people to appreciate their neighbours and put an end to any actions or anti-social behaviour that is putting our community in a bad light or having people in fear.' He continued: 'Ultimately, if it continues going the way it is going it will end up with loss of life. 'So anytime someone's life is in danger, no matter who they are, you'd have to be concerned — especially for young people. 'You hope that will be avoided and that this will stop before someone loses their life.' He added: 'I'm always here to listen and to pray for people and to support them in any way I can. 'VERY UPSETTING' 'At next Wednesday's mass near the statue of Our Lady, at the back of the church, we are going to remember anyone who has died locally down through the years for various reasons. 'A lot of young people have died from drug overdoses, so we are going to remember those people. "We are going to pray for a good community, for peace and a good sense of togetherness and neighbourhood — to bring people together.' 'I just want people to appreciate their neighbours and put an end to any actions or anti-social behaviour that is putting our community in a bad light or having people in fear.' Fr Richard Keane Fr Keane added: 'There is a great community centre here with great community initiatives and the school has a brilliant principal and staff who work so hard for the area too. 'They all have their hearts in the right place, they are committed in trying to give the kids in the area the best education and opportunities, and to allow them to discover their gifts and talents and to try and be positive in their lives — and that needs to be acknowledged too. 'IT'S CYCLICAL' 'Obviously, places have anti-social problems, and a situation like this is very upsetting. 'We know how it finishes up, its cyclical — you can have an end to a feud and things are quiet for ten years, then things kick off again.' Fr Keane said he was 'very much one hundred per cent' proud to be a Limerick native, adding: 'I just want to see the best for the city.' He also called on authorities to continue to provide resources for young people to attack 'boredom' in their lives. Fr Keane said: 'If people are idle and have nothing to do, they can find themselves going down the wrong road. 'But if people have something to do or have something to engage in, then there is less chance of them going down the wrong path.' 6 The passenger in the car during the shooting kept their face hidden under a balaclava

Texans HC DeMeco Ryans named to 2026 College Football Hall of Fame ballot
Texans HC DeMeco Ryans named to 2026 College Football Hall of Fame ballot DeMeco Ryans might never make it to Canton, Ohio, for his efforts as a player with the Houston Texans, but he could represent the University of Alabama in Atlanta, Ga. The former Alabama Crimson Tide star and future 2006 Defensive Rookie of the Year was named to the 2026 College Football Hall of Fame ballot The 2026 NFF College Football Hall of Fame Class will be officially inducted on Dec. 8, 2026. Ryans dominated the college ranks during his time in Tuscaloosa. He was a 2005 unanimous First Team All-American and won the Lott Trophy during his final season. The defender was also an All-SEC first-team honoree, a two-time All-SEC second-team honoree and won the SEC Defensive Player of the Year Award in 2005. The Texans landed Ryans with the No. 33 overall pick in the 2006 draft and never looked back. He became a captain in 2007 after winning the DPOY, and was considered the leader in the clubhouse until his trade to Philadelphia in 2012. Over his decade-long career in the league, Ryans totaled 970 tackles, 72 tackles for loss, seven interceptions and 13.5 sacks. He was a two-time Pro Bowl representative as well.

Texans head coach wishes veteran CB Ronald Darby 'the best' following retirement
Texans head coach wishes veteran CB Ronald Darby 'the best' following retirement Houston Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans remembers when his body told him it was time to hang up the cleats. It's a challenging call, but one that every player eventually must make. Veteran cornerback Ronald Darby made that decision Monday morning, announcing that after 10 seasons, he was calling it a career. Ryans, who played 10 seasons with the Texans and Philadelphia Eagles, understood this was a call that could have been made and wished the former defensive back a prosperous next step in life. "It's a very difficult time to step away from the game that you love, whenever that decision comes," Ryans said. "Whether it's voluntary or it's your body saying you can't do it, it's difficult because you've done it for such a long time. And I don't take that decision lightly.' A 2015 second-round pick out of Florida State, Darby spent a decade playing with multiple teams as a fringe starter and No. 2 cornerback. Drafted by the Buffalo Bills, he also played for the Eagles, Washington Commanders, Denver Broncos, Baltimore Ravens and the Jacksonville Jaguars. Last season in 13 games with Jacksonville, he totaled 46 tackles, three for losses and nine pass deflections. He signed a one-year deal worth $2.5 million this offseason and was expected to take over for Jeff Okudah as the veteran No. 3 defensive back. While the Texans like their starting talent in All-Pro Derek Stingley Jr. and breakout rookie Kamari Lassiter, their depth will take a toll. Houston drafted the versatile USC defensive back Jaylin Smith in the third round and could shift him around the field as a do-it-all player, including seeing reps at safety. "That was definitely something that appealed to us about him from the draft process standpoint," Texans defensive coordinator Matt Burke said last week. "He's been doing a good job working and trying to absorb everything we're throwing at him. We will see how that plays out.' As for replacing the "veteran impact" at the position, Ryans said they will try and fill the position with either someone on the market or potentially a player who has been cut between now and Week 1. "Whoever it may be, we'll look to add a guy," Ryans said. Several names on the market in former Defensive Player of the Year Stephon Gilmore, do-it-all defensive back Rasul Douglas, Kendall Fuller, James Bradberry and Caleb Farley.

Texans' DeMeco Ryans fires back at C.J. Stroud injury concerns
The post Texans' DeMeco Ryans fires back at C.J. Stroud injury concerns appeared first on ClutchPoints. While Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud appears to have no concerns as he continues to not throw at OTAs, there is an additional update from head coach DeMeco Ryans. As Stroud leads the way for the Texans in the foreseeable future, Ryans would ease people's questions regarding the signal-caller and why he isn't throwing during OTAs. Advertisement Ryans would speak to the media in a press conference on Tuesday afternoon, where he echoed the same sentiments as new offensive coordinator Nick Caley, that there aren't any concerns. He would say 'it's just general soreness' with his shoulder as they are taking steps to not rush Stroud onto the field, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. 'There's no concerns with C.J.,' said Texans HC DeMeco Ryans. 'It's just general soreness. We're taking extra precaution with him, but he'll be good to go. No concerns on my end there.' Last season, Stroud threw for 3,727 yards to go along with 20 touchdowns and 12 interceptions, which was down from his rookie year, when he recorded 4,108 yards with 23 touchdowns and five picks. While many could classify that as a classic sophomore slump, he looks for a big third season, but it remains to be seen how the shoulder soreness will heal. There are 'no concerns whatsoever' with Texans' C.J. Stroud Denny Medley-Imagn Images Despite the current issue with the shoulder, the Texans' star quarterback will work with a new offensive coordinator this season in Caley, as mentioned before. Before Ryans spoke about the shoulder, Caley would also be asked about the limited participation from Stroud, according to NBC Sports. Advertisement 'Yeah, he's locked in every step of the way. No concerns whatsoever,' Caley said during his press conference last Friday. 'I know DeMeco [Ryans] has already hit on this. Everybody has a specific routine relative to their own routine, specific to whatever.' At any rate, Houston is looking to further improve after finishing with a 10-7 record, which won them the NFC South, though they were eliminated by the Kansas City Chiefs in the divisional round. The Texans open the season against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, Sept. 7.

Texans QB C.J. Stroud misses another OTA practice, DeMeco Ryans explains
Texans QB C.J. Stroud misses another OTA practice, DeMeco Ryans explains Another update has come down from headquarters surrounding Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud entering Week 2 of organized team activities. Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans said that Stroud is currently dealing with 'general soreness' in his throwing shoulder, but maintained that he's not concerned that the issue will affect him moving forward. When asked for a timetable of his return, Ryans again said it was just "general soreness." 'We're taking extra precautions with him,' Ryans said in his press conference on Tuesday. 'But he'll be good to go. No concerns on my end.' Stroud, who could be up for a new contract following this season, hasn't thrown since the start of OTAs. While he hasn't missed practice and has been in meetings, the 2023 Offensive Rookie of the Year has yet to run full drills in new offensive coordinator Nick Caley's system. 'Whenever he's ready to go, he'll be ready,' Ryans said, addressing Stroud's issue. Former starter and veteran backup Davis Mills has been running with the runs, while second-year passer Kedon Slovis has spent the majority of reps with the second- and thrid teams. While Stroud played in all 17 games last season, he was also sacked 54 times. That's enough of a concern following last year's divisional round loss to ponder if he was dealing with an issue entering the offseason. Ryans did not specifiy if Stroud underwent any procedures during his offseason ahead of drills. No one, for now, seems to be concerned on his role. Caley said last week that the passer remains attentive in drills. On Tuesday, veteran receiver Christian Kirk mentioned the two have built a rapport off the field while he's been limited. 'If he sees a guy make a mistake or feels like they could do it better, he's going up to them and coaching," Kirk said. That's big for a quarterback going into his third season. That's stuff that you see from guys who have been in the league even longer.' While the Texans expect Stroud back by training camp, no one seems to be hitting the panic button yet. 'I know that when it's time for us to get rolling, he's going to hop in there and just keep elevating us as an offense,' Kirk said. The Texans will have several practices closed to the media this week and return in front of their eyes next Tuesday.
