JPEX brings Japanese pop culture to Dubai
The three-day event kicks off in Expo City Dubai today. If there's one thing the UAE does best, it hosts unique events that cater to every kind of interest. From concerts to comedy shows, there's always something exciting happening. And while MEFCC may have just wrapped up in Abu Dhabi, Dubai isn't letting the party end. In fact, it's gearing up for the inaugural JPEX Entertainment Exhibition, popularly referred to as JPEX. Kicking off today and running until 27 April, JPEX is making its grand debut at the Dubai Exhibition Centre in Expo City Dubai. It promises a celebration of anime, gaming, cosplay, and traditional Japanese culture that's perfect for all ages. JPEX will host several action-packed competitions and fandom showcases. Cosplay lovers can dress in their best fits and get a chance to win one of the cosplay contests. For gamers, there's a lineup of tournaments such as Tekken, Super Smash Bros., and FC 25. Trading card game enthusiasts have tons to look forward to as well. JPEX will feature an incredible lineup of voice actors flying in to meet fans and bring their characters to life. Leading the charge is Hiroshi Kitadani, the voice behind several One Piece theme songs, Ryusei Nakao, who has voiced some of the most iconic villains in anime history including Frieza from Dragon Ball Z, Mayuri Kurotsuchi from Bleach, and Caesar Clown from One Piece. Fans will also get a chance to meet Showtaro Morikubo of Naruto fame, Yosuke Hanamura from Persona 4, and Makoto from Free!. Representing the Arab world is Amal Saadeddin, a treasured voice actress who lent her voice to beloved characters from Detective Conan, Pokémon, Sonic the Hedgehog, and Doraemon.
