Where to buy the AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D: new gaming CPUs at no extra cost
The day is finally here: AMD is adding to its list of best processors, and gamers have something to be happy about — they both have the same recommended list price (MSRP) as their last-gen counterparts. The Ryzen 9 9950X3D and the Ryzen 9 9900X3D both feature AMD's famous 3D V-Cache tech that makes them gaming beasts, but unlike the 9800X3D, they sport more cores — making them better picks for productivity. The initial batch might sell out quickly, so check out where to get them once they go on sale today. Several retailers have already listed the Ryzen 9 9000X3D CPUs, so if you're in the U.S., you've got a good chance of being able to snap one up. Retailer AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D AMD Ryzen 9 9900X3D Best Buy $699 $599 B&H Photo $699 (TBA) $599 (TBA) Micro Center $699.99 $599.99 Newegg $699.99 $599.99 As far as specifications go, AMD stayed true to the formula it appears to have perfected in the previous generation; both CPUs have the exact same specs. This means 16 cores and 32 threads for the Ryzen 9 9950X3D and 12 cores for the Ryzen 9 9900X3D. The flagship sports 144MB of combined cache, while its cheaper counterpart offers 140MB. Despite the lack of updates in the specs, the CPUs should get a significant boost from the update to Zen 5 and a newer 3D V-Cache. So far, reviewers highlight that the 9950X3D can match the 9800X3D in gaming, while rivaling the 9950X in productivity. This isn't a surprise — the same situation took place in the Ryzen 7000 generation, when the two CPUs to compare were the 7950X3D and the 7950X. At the time of writing, some retailers are still yet to list the CPU, as the sales start at 6am PT / 9am ET. However, a few listings are already here for you to keep an eye on and refresh. Come back here a little bit later to see an updated list of AMD Ryzen 9 9000X3D deals.

Ryzen 9 9950X3D and 9900X3D hit retail on March 12, according to official AMD outlet in China
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. New listings at AMD's official store suggest the retail embargo for its Ryzen 9 9950X3D and Ryzen 9 9900X3D processors will lift on March 12 (via ITHome). alternatively known as Jingdong, is an online e-commerce company that is ranked as China's largest B2C retailer by revenue. Courtesy of HXL, AMD has priced these CPUs at $770 and $630, respectively, reflecting a moderate increase over their predecessors, at least in the Chinese market. Note that (pre-sale) listings in China are not wholly indicative of global pricing and availability. AMD announced high-core count Ryzen 9000X3D offerings at CES, promising retail availability by Q1 2025. Without discussing pricing, it showcased how these CPUs stack up versus their Zen 4 counterparts and Intel's troubled Arrow Lake processors, claiming 20% higher FPS on average versus the Core Ultra 9 285K. Ryzen 9000X3D processors leverage AMD's 2nd generation V-Cache technology, with the SRAM packaged beneath the CCD. Dual-CCD models like the 9950X3D and 9900X3D still have V-Cache implemented on only one of the CCDs, so the total cache count remains unchanged. Last month, a reliable leaker from China alleged the review embargo for the 9950X3D ends March 11th, which lines up with what we're seeing today at AMD's JD store. As for pricing, HXL used a special plugin designed for which allowed them to view prices across different regions. The Ryzen 9 9950X3D and 9900X3D are listed at 5599 RMB ($770) and 4599 RMB ($630), representing a 5% and 2% higher price versus the launch prices (in China) for the last-gen 7950X3D and 7900X3D. Keep in mind that China generally imposes a 13% VAT (Value Added Tax), so the expected global prices drop to $670 and $550 for both CPUs before tax, but that's no more than a guess. Earlier in February, data scrapers revealed potential $699 and $599 price-tags from Newegg. So which one is it? The latest information suggests a $50 drop in MSRP over Ryzen 7000X3D, which seems unlikely since Arrow Lake's gaming performance has been weaker than anticipated. It's hard to conclude as these prices are based on pre-sale listings so it's best to wait for an official statement. Even though AMD says the 9950X3D and 9900X3D can deliver comparable gaming performance to the 9800X3D, the latter will inevitably hold an advantage in certain titles. The high core count models are more geared towards productivity, so customers will have a wide array of CPUs to choose from, depending on their needs. All that's left is an announcement from AMD where we expect further details on pricing and availability.

AMD is releasing its latest Ryzen X3D processors on March 12
AMD has announced that it's releasing its newest Ryzen X3D processors on March 12. The Ryzen 9 9950X3D and Ryzen 9 9900X3D were both introduced back at CES 2025, and are currently the most powerful gaming-focused processors the company sells. The 9950X3D has 16 Zen 5 CPU cores, a max boost speed of 5.7GHz and second-generation 3D V-Cache tech for more efficient performance. In contrast, the 9900X3D comes with a more modest 12 CPU cores and a max boost speed of 5.5GHz. AMD's 3D V-Cache tech is still the standout feature on these chips. The company introduced 3D V-Cache as a method of packaging cache modules on top of each other to provided less RAM-intensive performance. The tech was added to desktop processors first, before coming to laptop processors in 2023. The 9950X3D's 3D V-Cache packaging allows it to be 20 percent faster than Intel's Core i9 285K across 40 different games, according to stats AMD shared when it announced the chip. It's also supposed to be at least 10 percent faster across certain content creation apps, too. When you take into account AMD's recently released Radeon 9070 GPUs, the company has the pieces you need to make a pretty compelling gaming PC. The AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D and Ryzen 9 900X3D will be available to order on March 12. The Ryzen 9 9950X3D will start at $699 and the Ryzen 9 9900X3D starts at $599.

AMD ramps up gaming performance with new X3D CPUs, and they're almost here
If you're waiting for a chance to upgrade your gaming rig, you don't have to wait much longer. AMD announced that the Ryzen 9 9950X3D and the Ryzen 9 9900X3D will hit store shelves on March 12 for $699 and $599, respectively. First unveiled at CES 2025, these two processors promise huge gains in performance for gamers wanting the best frame rates and visuals they can possibly get. AMD describes the Ryzen 9 9950X3D as the 'ultimate 16-core desktop CPU,' and while there might be a bit of hyperbole involved, this is an undeniably powerful piece of hardware. Its 16 cores give it 32 Threads, and it comes with a base clock speed of 4.3GHz that can boost up to 5.7GHz. It also sports a 144MB cache and uses an admittedly high 170W TDP. The Ryzen 9 9900X3D is slightly less powerful, but still nothing to scoff at. With 12 cores and 24 Threads, this CPU is more than capable of handling most anything you throw at it, but make no mistake: it's designed with gaming in mind. With a base clock speed of 4.4 GHz and a max speed of 5.5GHz, you'll get great performance with a more reasonable 120W TDP. If the prices feel familiar, it's because AMD hasn't changed a thing from the last-generation equivalents of these two cards. It's still on the higher-end compared to other cards on the market, but these offer an alternative to the hard-to-find 9800X3D. Opting for a non-X3D card will save money, but comes with a significant gaming performance hit. If either of these processors sounds like the missing link in your ideal gaming rig, keep your eyes peeled: they'll be available for purchase in less than a week.
