BrahMos, S-400, Akash, MR-SAM…: How India's deadly superweapons destroyed Pakistani military assets during Op Sindoor; Air Chief reveals key details, says enemy had…
(File) Operation Sindoor: India's lethal superweapons, especially the S-400 Triumf air defense system and BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles, decimated key Pakistani military infrastructure and shot down at least five enemy fighter jets, during Operation Sindoor, Indian Air Force (IAF) chief Air Chief Marshal AP Singh has revealed. How India's superweapons devastated Pakistan? According to the Air Chief, the Russian-made S-400 Triumf air defense system, which has been tailored to India's needs, attacked strategic military targets deep inside Pakistan and also shot down enemy fighter aircraft. The S-400's advanced radar and missile guidance technology gave zero reaction time to enemy pilots, he said. Similarly, India's homegrown BrahMos supersonic missile, pulverized Pakistani military infrastructure with precise, devastating strikes, sending shivers down the spine of Pakistani military leadership. As per defense sources, BrahMos was used to target Pakistani military command centers from a stand-off position. 'We were able to get at least two command and control centres, like Murid and Chaklala. At least six radars, some of them big, some of them small. Two SAGW systems that is in Lahore and Okara. We attacked three hangars. One was the Sukkur UAV hangar, the Bholari hangar and the Jacobabad F-16 hangar. We have an indication of at least one AEW&C in that AEW&C hangar and a few F-16s, which were under maintenance there,' the IAF chief said during his keynote address at the 16th edition of the Air Chief Marshal LM Katre Memorial Lecture on Saturday. 'Largest ever recorded surface-to-air kill' According to Air Chief Marshal Singh, apart from the five Pakistani fighter jets that were shot down during Operation Sindoor, one large aircraft was downed at a distance of about 300 kilometers, which is the 'largest ever recorded surface-to-air kill that we can talk about'. 'We have at least five fighters confirmed kills and one large aircraft, which could be either an ELINT (Electronic Intelligence) aircraft or an AEW &C (Airborne Early Warning and Control) aircraft, which was taken on at a distance of about 300 kilometres. This is actually the largest ever recorded surface-to-air kill that we can talk about,' he said. What about indigenous air defense systems Meanwhile, DRDO Chairman Samir V Kamat revealed how indigenous Akash missile system and Medium Range Surface to Air Missile (MR-SAM), intercepted Pakistan's low-altitude fighter formations and neutralized every enemy drone and missile during the India-Pakistan conflict. Additionally, the D4 Anti-Drone System, developed by DRDO, a key part of India's multi-layered air defense, also played a critical role during Operation Sindoor as it shot down enemy drones and other aerial threats with deadly accuracy. 'Political will' was key Meanwhile, IAF chief Singh also credited the 'political will' of the Central government for the success Operation Sindoor by allowing the Armed Forces to conduct the operations without any constraints. 'A key reason for success was the presence of political will. There was very clear political will and very clear directions given to us. No restrictions were put on us… If there were any constraints, they were self-made. The forces decided what the rules of engagement would be. We decided how we wanted to control the escalation. We had full freedom to plan and execute,' he said.

IAF chief breaks silence on Op Sindoor—6 Pakistani aircraft shot down by S-400, many destroyed on ground
Speaking at the Air Chief Marshal LM Katre lecture in Bengaluru, ACM Singh said one SAAB AEW&C aircraft was also destroyed in precise strikes by the IAF on the Bholari air base. New Delhi: Breaking his silence on Operation Sindoor, Indian Air Force (IAF) chief Air Chief Marshal A P Singh Saturday said India's S-400 Triumf air defence system had shot down five Pakistani fighter jets in the air along with an AEW&C/ELINT aircraft at a distance of about 300 kilometres, besides some parked F16s at the Jacobabad air base. ThePrint was the first to report on 8 May that the S-400 system had seen action for the first time during Operation Sindoor. Information related to actual kills was then held back since the IAF was still in the process of analysing the technical inputs. All the five fighter aircraft along with the AEW&C/ELINT were shot down on 7 May, sources had then told ThePrint. Sources said the identity of the fighter aircraft was discerned based on the signature and they are all of Chinese origin. No F16s were shot down in the air, as per preliminary inputs. The other aircraft shot down at a distance of about 300 kilometres was a slow moving large aircraft which could have been the Saab Erieye, an airborne early warning and control (AEW&C) aircraft, or the Chinese-made electronic intelligence (ELINT) and electronic warfare (EW). Russia, India talk up 'strategic partnership' after Trump tariff hike
President Donald Trump announced higher tariffs on imports from India because of its purchases of Russian oil Reuters Russia and India stressed their commitment to a "strategic partnership" in bilateral security talks in Moscow on Thursday, a day after US President Donald Trump announced higher tariffs on imports from India because of its purchases of Russian oil. Interfax news agency quoted Indian national security adviser Ajit Doval as saying that New Delhi was looking forward to a visit from President Vladimir Putin by the end of the year. At Doval's meeting with Sergei Shoigu, secretary of Russia's Security Council, both sides emphasised the importance of the countries' relations. Later on Thursday Doval met Putin at the Kremlin, where official footage showed the two men shaking hands. Shoigu, Kremlin foreign policy adviser Yuri Ushakov, and India's Ambassador to Russia, Vinay Kumar, also attended the meeting. The Kremlin did not disclose what they discussed. Trump's imposition of an additional 25 per cent tariff on goods from India, coming into force on August 28, signals the most serious downturn in US-India relations since his return to office in January, threatening to disrupt India's access to its largest export market. "We are committed to further active cooperation in order to form a new, more just and sustainable world order, ensure the supremacy of international law, and jointly combat modern challenges and threats," Shoigu told Doval in televised comments. Interfax quoted Doval as saying: "We have now established very good relations, which we value very much, a strategic partnership between our countries". India and China have become the top buyers of Russian seaborne crude oil since Moscow launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, precipitating Western efforts to choke the Russian economy. Trump had threatened measures against countries buying Russian oil before he announced the new tariff on Indian goods, which raised the total duty to 50 per cent. On Tuesday, the Kremlin accused the United States of exerting illegal trade pressure on New Delhi, saying India has the right to trade with whomever it chooses. India's state refiners have stopped Russian oil purchases as the discounts narrowed and Trump warned countries not to buy Moscow's oil, industry sources said. Private refiners Reliance Industries and Nayara are Russia's top oil clients in India, trade data shows. An Indian official familiar with the matter said Doval would discuss India's purchases of Russian crude during his visit to Moscow. He was also expected to discuss India's defence collaboration with Russia, the official said. India signed a $5.5 billion deal with Russia in 2018 for five S-400 Triumf long-range surface-to-air missile systems, which New Delhi says it needs to counter a threat from China. But deliveries of the systems have been delayed several times. Moscow is expected to deliver units of the final two S-400 systems to India in 2026 and 2027. New Delhi has traditionally relied heavily on arms imports from Russia, although it has dramatically reduced those imports and shifted to Western buyers in recent years.

NSA Ajit Doval meets Putin in Moscow day after Trump slaps tariffs
National Security Adviser Ajit Doval met Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin during his visit to Moscow for bilateral talks focused on security, economic, and energy cooperation. NSA Ajit Doval meets Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin.(Kremlin ) The meeting came a day after US President Donald Trump announced steep new tariffs on Indian imports in response to New Delhi's continued purchases of Russian crude oil. Trump, on Wednesday, signed an executive order imposing an additional 25 per cent tariff on Indian goods, effectively doubling the total tariff burden to 50 per cent. India has defended its energy trade with Russia, maintaining that its oil imports are 'driven by national interest and market dynamics.' In a video released by Russian state media outlet Sputnik News, Doval described India's relationship with Russia as 'very special,' underlining the depth of long-standing strategic ties between the two countries. 'We have got a very special relationship, long relationship and we highly value our strategic partnership. We have had high-level engagements and these have contributed very substantially,' Doval said. He also welcomed the announcement of an upcoming state visit by President Putin to India, saying summit meetings have historically marked key moments in bilateral ties. 'We are very excited and delighted to learn about the visit of His Excellency, the President of Russia, President Putin, to India. I think that the dates are almost finalized now. The more important thing is that the summit meetings have always been a watershed point,' Doval added. According to sources cited by news agency ANI, while Doval confirmed that plans for the Russian president's visit are underway, no specific dates were finalised during his engagements in Moscow. India and Russia continue to expand their defence cooperation. In 2018, India signed a $5.43 billion deal for five squadrons of the S-400 Triumf air defence missile system from Russia. So far, three squadrons have been delivered.
