In a statement issued from Raj Bhavan on Sunday (June 8), Mr. Abdul Nazeer said Ms. Yarraji made the people of Andhra Pradesh as well as the nation proud with her achievement. The Governor wished her many more laurels in future.

Quantum Valley will position A.P. as a leading centre for technology research, says Governor

Andhra Pradesh Governor S. Abdul Nazeer has said that the State government's plan to establish Quantum Valley, a quantum computing hub in Amaravati, as part of India's National Quantum Mission, will position the State as a leading centre for quantum technology research and development. Mr. Nazeer, who is also the Chancellor of JNTU-A, presided over the 14th convocation held at the university's auditorium in Anantapur on Saturday. He expressed happiness over the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Anantapur (JNTU-A) introducing a minor programme in Quantum Computing from the next academic year, saying that it would augur well with the State government's ambitious plan. Viksit Bharat goals Addressing the students, the Governor said the concept of Viksit Bharat focuses on achieving economic prosperity, social inclusiveness, technological advancement, and sustainable development and envisions an India where every citizen has access to quality education, healthcare, employment opportunities, and a dignified life. 'To achieve this vision, several programmes such as digital economy, renewable energy, startups, education, health, and skill development have been initiated with a participatory approach, encouraging citizens, students, youth, and all institutions to actively contribute towards this goal,' he said. He said the State's Swarna Andhra 2047 vision aligns with the national mission of Viksit Bharat, adding that the roadmap drawn up by the State government aims to achieve economic prosperity, technological advancement, social equality, and environmental sustainability by 2047. The Governor congratulated the students who received gold medals, merit certificates and degrees during the convocation. Prof. M.R. Madhav, Emeritus Professor (Retd.), IIT Kanpur, participated as the chief guest-cum-orator. Dr. Satyanarayana Chava, founder & CEO of Laurus Labs Limited, was conferred with the Degree of Honoris Causa by the University. JNTU-A Vice-Chancellor Prof. H. Sudarsana Rao read out the university's annual report. Dr. M. Hari Jawaharlal, Secretary to the Governor, and other dignitaries attended the convocation.

Andhra Pradesh Governor S. Abdul Nazeer said he was, together with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan, other elected representatives of the people and civil society, affirming wholehearted support to the Indian armed forces and the Central government in their mission to protect the nation from terrorism and aggression. Addressing an inter-faith meeting at Raj Bhavan here on Saturday, Mr. Nazeer lauded the exemplary courage with which the armed forces repelled the attacks launched by Pakistan following India's response to the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, and the strategic restraint maintained by the Indian Armed Forces in their measured and non-escalatory counter-attack on the terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan. He also said he was honouring the armed forces devotion in protecting the country and that everyone should stand in solidarity with the citizens in the border States who have endured emotional and logistical hardships with inspiring resilience, and their steadfastness in the face of adversity. Mr. Naidu said 'nation first' should be the collective spirit in such troubling times and that terrorism was never a solution to disputes, rather it would only destabilise nations and compound their economic woes. He observed that the Pahalgam incident was not just an attack on the tourists but on the whole of India, which has never been a war - monger. India was always for peace but it would not let anyone harm its territorial integrity. 'After days of intense fighting came the good news that India and Pakistan agreed for a ceasefire upon a call by the latter. We welcome it. In the same vein, we extend our full support to whatever decisions Prime Minister Narendra Modi takes in national interests', he added. Mr. Pawan Kalyan has said that the people of all religions and faiths should flourish and be safe in India and that concerted efforts should be made to keep the social fabric intact amidst persistent attempts to divide the nation. Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha, Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand, Director General of Police Harish Kumar Gupta and others were present.

A native of Kalli Thanda, Gorantla mandal in Sri Satya Sai district, Mr. Murali Naik, was martyred in the fight against the terrorists In Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday, the Governor posted on 'X' on Friday. 'I offer my tributes to the brave soldier, who sacrificed his life in protecting the nation,' Mr. Abdul Nazeer said and conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the jawan's family members.

A.P. Governor presents Red Cross awards to eight Collectors for outstanding services

Governor S. Abdul Nazeer, who is also the president of Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) A.P. State branch, participated in the World Red Cross Day celebrations, and also the International Thalassemia Day programme, at Raj Bhavan here on Thursday. The Governor virtually inaugurated the Red Cross Thalassemia Blood Transfusion Centre in the Srikakulam district Red Cross Blood Centre, from the Durbar Hall in Raj Bhavan. He also unveiled the plaque of the Red Cross Child Care, Women Welfare and Skill Development Centre, established in Kakinada. Addressing the District Collectors and other officers, Mr. Abdul Nazeer congratulated the officers and staff of the Srikakulam district branch, for their initiative to support children and patients who were in need of blood transfusion during treatment. The IRCS A.P. State branch was collecting more than 65,000 blood units every year from 20 blood centres, the Governor said. He directed the State branch officials to expand the blood transfusion services at all the IRCS Blood Centres where component facility was available. Later, the Governor presented Red Cross awards to East Godavari District Collector P. Prasanthi, Krishna Collector D.K. Balaji, Nellore Collector O. Anand, Nandyal Collector G. Raja Kumari, Kakinada Collector Sagili Shan Mohan, Kurnool Collector P. Ranjit Basha, West Godavari Collector C. Naga Rani, and Bapatla District Collector J. Venkata Murali, for their outstanding services and mobilising the maximum contributions towards the cause of Red Cross movement. First Lady Sameera Nazeer, Secretary to Governor M. Hari Jawaharlal, A.P. Red Cross Chairman Y.D. Rama Rao, CEO and General Secretary A.K. Parida, Chairmen of Red Cross district branches, officers and staff of Raj Bhavan were present.
